We approached OffLeash SoCal with a need to train our two 7 month old Labrador Retriever puppies which are siblings. They are great dogs, very little to no aggressive behavior, but VERY energetic and unable/unwilling to take direction. Specific concerns were: 1. Impossible to walk them together. They would just jump on each other and think it was play time. Not great walking independently either. 2. Totally unresponsive when off leash in the field. They would chase birds, butterflies, etc. and would not come back to me until they were bored. 3. Jumping when greeting new people at the front door 4. Chewing. Everything. All of our furniture has bite marks. Called Mike at OffLeash, and after a little bit of a challenge with scheduling issues, we agreed to have them board and train with Mike for one week a piece. Boy would go first, then come back and we'd send the girl for her week. Then, when they were both done, he took them both for 48 hours to train them together. The results were very good. The dogs both walk on leash extremely well, both independently and together. They also walk off leash very well, although I'm still not 100% confident that if they saw something they wanted that they wouldn't bolt. Still, we only did the one week training which is on leash, so the off leash benefits were a bonus. Most impressive was their recall back to me. They now pay attention when I ask them to come back. Not perfect, and the boy is better than the girl, but very much improved. When they are doing behavior that we don't like they respond well to the 'off' command to stop whatever behavior they are doing. Are the dogs suddenly perfect? No, still plenty of work to be done. But what I think we got with the training was a great foundation to work from. No dog training will get you to 100%, it requires active and regular follow-up and consistency by the owners. This is where we have failed with prior dogs and training, and the results have been as you'd expect. They retain a few things (sit, down), but lose the rest. This time we are actively working with them, independently and together, to reinforce the training that they received from OffLeash. One final note on the eCollars used by OffLeash. I understand the initial reluctance expressed by some about using this type of training tool. I shared that feeling initially. I did a LOT of research on the topic, and found that if used appropriately, they are a good tool and do not damage or otherwise inflect unnecessary, lasting pain on the dog. The amount of stimulus used is as little as possible to reinforce the behavior, and I found that when I got the dogs back, they were extremely responsive to even the slightest use of the collar. It was so light, in fact, that when testing it on myself and my daughters it was not even enough to feel it. Now we only use the collars when we are going to be in an environment where we feel the distractions or potential danger (chasing a bird into the street) is likely. What we found is that simply by virtue of wearing the collar, the dogs are more aware and obedient, without even needing to use them. All in all, we were very happy with the results of our training. The bad behaviors we wanted to see go away were addressed, and the dogs benefit by not having us yell at them, violently yanking on their leashes or grabbing their collars when going after other dogs, etc. For us, it was a no-brainer. read more

Yoshi did the 2 week board and train with Priscilla. Initially I was doing the 8 week private lesson, but after the first lesson, I decided to change to the board and train. I was scared to leave her with someone I didn't know because I didn't know how they would treat her. Some of my family members were telling me not to board her because if they mistreat her, she'll be either very aggressive or very scared. Just like any other dog parent, I looked and read as many reviews as I could. I saw people posting negative things about the company, which of course got me scared. BUT I had to remember everyone's definition as "bad experience" is different. So I decide to move forward with it. Before I get into how her training and my experience went let me tell you about Yoshi. She was a 6 month old Rottweiler at the time, who jumps on people to greet them, plays with my 10 and 5 year old kids but puppy bites them, runs past us when we open the house door, jumps up to grab food from our hands and has even knocked my kids cereal bowl out of their hands, very possessive over food/ toys, she would pull us when trying to walk her, gets distracted very easily when walking and chases her shadow when we would try to train her. August 21st Yoshi left to her temporary home with Priscilla and I got her back on September 4th. I did a 2 hour training at the park with Priscilla. It was a very hot day roughly 98 degrees, but Yoshi took it like a champ and showed me that she learned everything very well. I asked quite a few questions that day, and the response I would get were right to the point, no hesitation on how to reply to me. She even gave some good tips on Yoshi being possessive. Every morning I would look forward to the daily pup updates to see how she was progressing. Priscilla took lots of photos that I was able to save. She also took videos in different places with lots of distraction around and she did good. There were times where I would email Priscilla because I had a question and she would respond fairly quickly answering my question. The first couple of days of Yoshi being gone I couldn't sleep because I was worried about how they would treat her or how she would be acting. I can honestly say I do recommend this company. I plan on using them again when I get my second. I know some people are skeptical about the positve and think it's fake, but im being 100% honest. I'm not getting paid to say good things nor do I know anyone that works for the company. read more

My 8 month old German Shepherd dog Max was trained by Jesse. Before Offleash, I would dread taking Max on walks. He would have 'good' days where he'd just pull and only bark at dogs and possibly chase birds pulling me along with him. And then we'd have bad days where he'd bark at everything and anyone, including cars passing by. When meeting new people, especially kids, he'd jump and nip which would be cute at first but as he'd grow not so much. He could not be around kids because he'd attempt to jump or run them over. If we locked him in he'd bark to play with them. In terms of commands, he knew sit and that was only if he got a treat. He knew stay but again only with a treat. On a walk he just didn't listen to commands. With OffLeash, at least from the updates, he started doing soooo much better. He was heeling, sitting, and staying. When we got him back, and around his trainer he did perfectly as well. Jesse was very helpful getting us aquatinted with the technology and the commands. He practiced with us and made sure to not miss any details. **Jesse made it clear that now we were the trainers** Then he brought out Max. Max was still the same excited dog but also a disciplined dog. We worked with him for the first time which gave me the confidence to take him on future walks. Now, (a week after) I am continually working with Max. He has his good and bad days. His bad days are no longer a mess. I also have more patience with Max, understanding that sometimes he's just a bit more excited than other times. Something important to note, is that you will continually have to work with your dog. They will come back wayyyy better but like anything, practice makes perfect. You need to be willing to put in the time afterward. Like Jesse said, now we become the trainers. We were in serious need of getting our dog under control. Ripley is an 18 month old Labrador Retriever with a lot of energy and a mind of her own. She had been with two trainers before with no good results. We found OffLeash SoCal and are so glad we did. Katie was our trainer for a 2 week board and train. When we dropped her off, Ripley was pulling on the leash, she would jump and get overly excited when greeting people and even though she knew basic commands, she would not retain them. We never enjoyed taking her out because it was such a stressful experience. When people would come over, we would have to put her in her crate or leave her in another room. This was not fair to her and not the reason why we got a dog. Fast forward two weeks later and all we can say is AMAZING!!!! When we met Katie and Ripley for pick up, we could not believe this was our dog. The exchange took place at a busy park. We walked her around, off leash, with many distractions. There were kids, people walking, running, riding bikes and other dogs. Ripley stayed right by our side the entire time. She would stay in the sit and down command without wanting to run off. She would even immediately come when we called her. She's still the same goofy pup but a better version of herself. We can now go on walks without her pulling and can even stop and talk to people with her sitting or lying by our side instead of wanting to be the center of attention. We did a two week board and extended it to three and so happy we did. Bolt had anxiety and wasn't able to focus. I found Offleash. After reading the reviews I decided to reach out. Every interaction with the company was great. We started the process before Covid hit. We rescheduled and they were flexible with finding a date. Our trainer Jesse has the best energy. I knew Bolt was in good hands as soon as I met him. When they met, jesse and Bolt, he explained everything he was doing. Handing your furry kid over can be stressful. I left happy knowing he was in good hands. Daily video/photos. When the two week board was about up we had a discussion on whether to do another week or not. After talking with jesse we all agreed it was the best decision. It wasn't a scam to get more money. We could see within a couple days the progress he made. He sits, extended sits. He comes and lays down. He needed structure and Jesse did an amazing job. He also spent 2hrs with us going over everything with patience and support. Answered all the questions we had. OffLeash is definitely worth every penny! My 5 month-old Havanese puppy was trained by Joey Madrid, and she did an excellent job. Everything that bothered/worried me about my puppy was addressed in a timely and professional manner. I was afraid that my puppy was too young to be trained, but that was never a problem. I was afraid that my puppy would be a perfect angel for her and she would think I was crazy, but that was not an issue (she even purposefully put him in spots that would make him act up so that she could correct him!). The best part of this program is that OffLeash will follow through and update you and communicate with you whenever you need it, even after the training is complete. You are given a high quality e-collar when it's all done so you can continue the training, and Joey assured me that she will be my puppy's trainer for life. That's right--they don't just disappear when your time is up. If I want to, I can meet Joey somewhere and she can spend time helping me and my puppy. We did a two week board and train for our 1 1/2 year old German Shepherd. He was difficult to walk on a leash and was aggressive towards other dogs. With a new born coming in a few months we decided to make the investment of getting him professionally trained. We adopted our dog Nala from a rescue organization. Nala was a great dog but needed a lot of training when we first adopted her. Nala had 4 private lessons with our family and her trainer Amanda. Amanda was great. She explained in detail what we needed to work on at home and how to do this. Amanda is very calm, patient, and professional. She explains well and never was rushed. Most importantly Nala was very comfortable with her. During the sessions Amanda demonstrated the task to us and Nala. Then Nala went into the 2 week camp with Amanda as her trainer. We could not have been happier with the results. Nala came back as an off leash trained dog. The carryover to home and walks with us was smooth. We can't thank OffLeash SoCal enough. They are great trainers! We rescued a Lab Mix a couple of months ago, shortly after, we knew we could not keep her if we didn't get hr trained. She was constantly nipping at our kids (in a play form) , she would not listen to us at all outside, and pull after everything on walks. We did a two week Board and Train and it was the best thing we've done. Briggs is a very stubborn 11 month old Wheaten Terrier who was a nightmare to walk.
