Tl;dr: unless you are willing to keep the chair no matter what without ever considering a return, don't buy a chair from here. I bought a Hawthorn Fern chair from Office Chair @ Work in late May. Upon arrival, the chair had a missing wheel. Contacted their customer support and they were willing to send additional wheels. It was all fine here. However, it all went downhill from here. I decided to return the chair, because the style didn't fit well with the rest of my office. Before I made the purchase, I made sure that they provide free returns, including the returning shipping fee. I checked USPS/FedEx/UPS, and the cheapest shipping costs $300. I asked the customer service if they have resources/recommendations to cheaper shipping options. No. I asked again - my shipping fee will cost a lot; are they sure they will cover it 100%? And the answer was positive. So I proceeded with the return process. Shipped my chair back, and emailed customer support with my order number, and a receipt of shipping fee. And - you guessed it - they only refunded the cost of chair. I tried to reach out a few times wrt the shipping cost, but they never responded. Lesson of the day: look up a company's Yelp reviews before making any purchase :)

I bought a Herman Miller Aeron chair from this company because I liked the reviews left by buyers, but now I suspect they were fabricated reviews. My experience with this company is really bad. 1) I purchased the chair on December 18, 2022, and received the chair on March 4, 2023. For two months, the delivery status of the item had been "Preparing shipping" without any update. I inquired twice about shipping to the customer service, but it was not helpful. 2) The chair (that I paid $899 and I have waited for more than two months) is not a new item! I am sure that it's used or refurbished. When I wiped it, it was very dirty, and there were traces and small scratches from use. I want to protest and get an exchange, but I cannot expect good customer service from this company because I've already had a bad experience with it. (And today I read many reviews that share bad experiences regarding cancelation and refund issue) I will never buy anything from this company again. I would like to advise you- Just don't buy anything from this company.

Very poor craftsmanship

Bought a Steelcase Leap V2 a couple months ago, and today I noticed the back has completely come apart - they stapled the fabric to the foam with normal staples! (you know, the ones you'd use on paper). *As you see from the manager's response below, he turns the blame onto the customer. The arms don't even reach the top of the table, so how would I be pulling the chair out with force? - the chair is also on wheels... Poor excuse for poor craftsmanship. They won't return emails, they'll ignore you in the hopes that you'll just give up. Seriously the worst purchase and (lack of) customer service of my life.

DO NOT ORDER! Horrible customer service. Website says one thing about delivery times, once your order they tell you at least 30 days. Requested to cancel my order, they initiated a refund that failed via PayPal, tried to contact support with no response. A total scam.

Chair falling apart with Staples falling all over the place

DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! If i could give this company zero starts I would. They shouldn't even be in business. I knew what I was getting in to when I was purchasing a refurbished chair, but the customer service and quality of the chair have been so incredibly horrible. I wish more than anything I could go back in time and buy from someone else. First, the chair took two months to be delivered, when they promised it within 2 weeks. I had to email multiple times to get them to even tell me it shipped. Once I received it, I thought maybe I was in the clear, but within a month the chair is completely falling apart. When I emailed customer service about the issues, they told me to buy a stapler at the store and staple it back together! This is far from the money back guarantee and warrantees they promise on their site. I am so disappointed in this customer service. I wish more than anything I could just get my money back and never deal with them again. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!

Seat pad literally just came off and screw stabbed me in my leg and snagged my pants.

I would give zero stars. This company is a fraud. I just submitted a report to the BBB. I originally submitted to the NJ BBB but it was transferred to the NY one. I highly recommend you do that same since it is the only way to hold this company accountable for their actions. If we want the world to be better, we have to advocate for ourselves and not let this kind of behavior just go. Here is the BBB contact info. This is wonderful in a world where a circular economy helps us with climate challenges. Gently used furniture helps avoid landfills and helps give a consumer a discount. Win win for all. The Knoll office chair I ordered arrived in a box that had ripped and the chair parts were jostling around in the box. It cost $449. But I was willing to be open minded and I opened it and put it together. I immediately discovered that the base had essentially been spray painted to cover up major damage because when I put it together the spray paint rubbed off all over my hands and clothes. The wheels of the chair are squeaky and very beat up. But, the Knoll chairs are amazing. I immediately sent an email to their customer service on that same day asked for a replacement chair since I still wanted the chair, just not one that was as beat up as the one I received. So, I sent the request in using the instructions provided on their website, and went on with my day. I never heard back. Then a few weeks later, I got up from my chair and the seat came right off and left a sharp screw exposed which snagged my pants and stabbed my leg. At this point, I wanted the refund versus a replacement. I then contacted them again (called the number and submitted a form on their website). On their website, it says the purchase is money back guarantee. It also says free returns. It is right on the top of their website. I still didn't hear back. So, yesterday, I submitted a complaint to the BBB. Today, I received an email from office chair at work saying that they had been trying to reach me for weeks and I didn't respond. There is no email from them in my inbox nor spam. We then went back and forth on email using 2 other email addresses (my work email and another personal email that I have) since they said my yahoo email did not work. Hi. If you want to return you have to pack the chair in the box it came in and email a photo of it. Or if you like a 30% refund. It has been almost 3 weeks. The original box is gone at this point since I put the chair together the day it arrived. It was a huge ripped box and I put it out with my my recycle bin. Why would I save it? The emails are written in poor grammar and with mistakes. What do they mean by "or if you like a 30% refund"? There is no person to speak with. When you call the number on the website, it simply says to send an email. This is the signature line of the person who has been emailing with me today. It would be 1 thing if they said that their chairs are very used, perhaps damaged, but priced accordingly. You get what you pay for, so that would be fine and informed as a consumer. But, that is not what they say and they have policies for full money back guarantee and refunds. Go to TrustPilot and other review sites to read all of the bad reviews. We really need to do something to help consumers.

How I wish I had checked the reviews before paying $999 for a chair I never received. I just cancathe order and am about to file a dispute with my bank. The customer service aka Evelyn is obviously a fraud. They respond but it doesn't solve your problem. Probably some cheap call center labor in the Philippines. All I want at this point is to get my money back. Wish me luck. I'm surprised that their web site is still operating after all the complaints and fraud reports. STAY AWAY from this merchant!!! Update 10 hours after my original post I received an email from "Evelyn" saying the chair has shipped and asking me if I wanted to process return and refund. Guess what: I checked the UPS tracker and the chair has not been shipped. Lie after lie after lie. And David, on top of running a fraudulent business you dare to reply to me in the tone that you used? Yeah, 22 years of cheating people out of their money is your successful business.

As you'll see from the many other 1-star reviews here I'm not alone in my low rating of Office Chair At Work. If there were minus stars I would have given them minus 10 stars. This is a deceptive organization that hides the facts on their website. First of all you have to know where to click to find out if a chair is new or used when it should be obvious. Their website shows "Free Returns" and "Money Back" guarantee prominently on their homepage, but that is far from the truth. I ordered a Herman Miller Aeron chair assuming it was new because I couldn't find anything stating it was used and restored. Soon after I placed the order when I realized the chair was not new I asked to have my order cancelled. The chair hadn't shipped yet, but they refunded my purchase price minus $61.90. Oh, and BTW, when I questioned them on this practice of shorting a refund, they responded with a link to their well hidden refund policy. Don't bother doing business with this company. They are deceptive in their presentation and their business practices.

Fair warning to my business associates about Office Chair @ work. This is a company whose ethics are in the gutter. I placed an order, cancelled it within 2 minutes, got charged the full amount, it took them 2 months to refund the money (after being asked by me) and they charged me a 10% cancellation fee. For an order that was placed for literally 2 minutes. This is next-level terrible business practices.

if I can give zero I will give zero stars, I purchased the chair and they did not send me for 20 days I have to keep following up, and last they send me broken/damaged and very dirty chair. So I request to return and refund. When I got a refund they deduct 108$ from total order with the reason they want me to replace the broken part and clean the chair. What lame. Forgot to mention chair was shipped into box without any cushion or anything can protect the chair during shipping. GUY plz aware of this company they show chairs are conditioned as new but it;s not close very dirty chair and ship as broken chair and they charge you to return the broken chair.

**DAMAGED PRODUCT / REFUND SCAM** The product was delivered damaged; missing piece and a broken part. * Missing the forward tilt adjustment lever as advertised and had a * Broken bracket that holds the knob to adjust the lumbar; which was cracked in half and hanging. After reporting the product's condition upon delivery, Office Chair @ Work asked for pictures and then sent me a tutorial video on HOW TO disassemble chair / install / reassemble the missing piece and broken part; stating they would "mail me the missing and broken features". https://www.dropbox.com/s/0d7xg7v8hz0r68o/aeron-install-forward-tilt.mp4?dl=0 Office Chair @ Work was asked for a "money back guarantee" REFUND since the item delivered was damaged. I was provided a FedEx return label and credited a week later 75% of my money back; a loss of $101.60 to me for buying a damaged product from Office Chair @ Work and unaware of their **conditional** money back guarantee - only if "the defective item sent is unable to make usable". Their team should make sure the item IS suitable for sale and in the correct condition BEFORE shipping a damaged product. I DO NOT ACCEPT purchasing a product that might have to be pieced together upon delivery, wait for parts to arrive in the mail, be sent "how to" videos to install / replace the missing and broken parts - or - accept a credit of 25% less than the cost of the purchased product and be told it was a courtesy they accepted the return. PLEASE. DO NOT BUY FROM OFFICE CHAIR @ WORK.

3 stars because the chair is good the customer "service" is not good.. I ordered this chair for one of our staff members, even though it was $399.00 witch was mone than I wanted to spend but got it because I figured it would last longer. After waiting almost 6 weeks for the chair to arrive it came damaged! When I contacted them about it and asked if they could replace it with a none damaged none used chair i was informed it wasn't a $399.00 chair it was a $999.00 chair, the $399 was a refurbished chair and if id like they can send me a replacement cushion for the back. So June 22nd 2020 I asked them to send it. On July 23rd I emailed again asking when it would arrive. I was not responded to very nicely intact it was rude. She told me I never emailed her and I need to read the email chain. I responded with a screen shot of me asking for the replacement part a month ago.
