Uptown Pittsburg is the "nicer" side of this small city. It's furthest away from the loud railroad…read moretracks which is nice. Hearing that train whistle late night is not the business; especially when you are trying to sleep. Also, further away from the freeway. The homes are a little more expensive, newer, and larger (sq. ft. wise). The parks are more family friendly for actual play time. Although it's "nicer", it doesn't say much for Pittsburg. What is considered "nicer" is what others would probably call normal. Nothing fancy. There is occasional riffraff and ghetto folks but it's not as visual as midtown or downtown Pittsburg has come along way from it's negative stigma. So I'm not so anxious when people ask me where I live. Uptown is primarily a residential area with a small strip mall. It's also close to more shopping in the city of Antioch which is very convenient.

I invite people to our little City to see that yes there has been a bad Reputation lingering above us for a long time, But Things Change and I would like to believe that Pittsburg has Changed for the good. We have a Nice small Down Town could use a few more shops which I anticipate will be coming with the economy slowly moving up there are a few Great Places to Dine there is a Ice Cream shop and every Thursday the super fun Music and Car Show. Uptown Is like a previous Yelper said more quit Nicer area to come home from all the Hustle and Bussel of our every day Hectic life's. If you happen to get Hungry or are a foody like me there is a wide array of choices to choose from close to home. The Parks are Nice yet you have to get there super early if you want a picnic area.. Parking is MMMMmmmm There could be more with the newly renovated pool at Buchanan Park it gets Crazy Hectic on the weekends. Over all I love this Community where all your Neighbors say Hello to you when your in the front yard.

Pretty safe area considering where it's at depending on what street you go down just be careful. BART is off railroad ave. This place is fairly packed 24 seven so if you want somewhere that has traffic most of the time this is the place for you! There's a lot of people over here that will try and race you which is not an issue for me but you can tell most of them are intoxicated due to swerving so just be careful! I'd honestly just stick to the stores and stay out of here if you don't live in the surrounding areas just because of how it is. Thanks for reading hope this helps will add more details and pictures as I go back to the area!

Originally from Walnut Creek, but moved to Pittsburg still as a kid. When I was younger Pittsburg…read morewas pretty nice and not over crowded. In the 80's there was the Vogue theater that was in down town Pittsburg the very last movie that played at the vogue was Who framed Roger rabbit and Honey I shrunk the kids. Then in the mid 90's it turn into a church. If you were from Pittsburg every youngster under 20 would go to Marina Skate. I really loved the over night skate.. Hehe, especially when someone fell asleep and we would put shaving cream or draw on random people's faces. Unfortunately that happened to me twice. Every year during the first week of September would be the the Popular seafood festival although I stopped going years ago because it used to be free to get in now I think is like $15 I would mind paying it if Pittsburg didn't make the festival smaller :( When I lived in Pittsburg there were several elementary school's however I went to Private school until I was in the 4th grade so 5th I went to Highlands elementary which was okay I guess. Junior high you had the option of Central Jr High or Hillview Jr. high. I say this because if you could handle Central the do it and you didn't have the tough skin for it and you wanted to go to school drama free then Hillview was the school for you. I chose Central I don't know why I suppose it's because friends were like if I go to Hillview I was a hater. I got through Central with no problem graduated 8th grade in '96 I went to Pittsburg High from 96-00 that school was something else and I don't mean in a good way either. For me you had to stay lit to deal with the non-sense there I actually left Pitt for like 4 months during my Junior year before someone hated on me for using a friends address to get into a high school in another city. :/ Finished High school at Pitt and ran across that graduation stage with joy knowing I would never had to go there again :) :) :) In 2007 I decided to move out of Pittsburg because it got worse and people were getting killed on dumb stuff landlords were renting there properties to people who didn't live in the homes and were just using the homes as pot grows and meth labs literally. One place actually caught on fire. It's a horrible feeling when your told you can't go home. That's was the last straw. My daughter, wife and I moved out within 2 weeks a few years later my dad sold his house and moved out of Pittsburg. The only reason I still go to Pittsburg is because my mom and sister still lives there and I can't pass up Parkside Market and those delicious sausages. I don't know if this is a review or a rant but it's what my experience's living in Pittsburg. P.S City of Pittsburg why did you get rid of the Blues festival and only keep Hot August Nights and Seafood festival?!!!

So if you have multiple people speaking or children being children, the sound carries to the point it's unpleasant. It couldn't be made into a park because the noise would be deafening. The Plaza has little to no greenery and only receives sunlight during certain points of the day and year, generally being a concrete shaded rather cold space with tables that go largely unused. It would liven up the area dramatically if they put in a small coffee shop that had games you could check out (like Salesforce Park), but my guess is they have to keep it a community space for tax purposes. In my opinion the seating at Growers Square and the Wells Fargo Fountain are far more successful. They're both more comfortable and have a mix of shaded and sunny areas. So all in all, while the idea of the Plaza (with it's beautiful tiled backdrop and fountain) is great, the actual usability of it day to day is fairly low.

Half of the seating area was covered by shade when we visited, which was a relief on a hot Sunday afternoon. The glass and ceramic mosaic mural along the wall, titled Water Light, is a beautiful reflective art piece by Jason Middlebrook, whose works connect art, history, and nature. The arcs of water flowing from the jets blend in with the artwork on the wall beautifully. The biggest surprise was the wooden grand piano at the corner of the plaza adorned with images of tiny trees and polka dots whose colors match the mural in the background (part of the Painted Piano Project). We got to play and listen to lovely melodies while relaxing in this simple yet delightful space.

If we hadn't found parking we would have been so out of luck & would have left early & been disappointed... This Walnut Creek Art & Wine Festival was held at Heather Farm park. Lovely and huge. Thank goodness for portapotties strategically placed. Unfortunately my wife tried the lobster roll at Chicken at the Farm. It was horrible. I stuck with the chicken teriyaki bowl which was delicious & opened right at 11 AM. Great service at that foodie tent. Hibiscus cooler & mango slushy was also a winner at a different vendor tent. This park had the biggest playground we had ever seen. Lucky for families with children! Also a pond too! There were wine sampling & beer gardens for those interested. We found a shady area to listen to the music. I did lose my wife as she was wandering the park to check out the various craft vendors. She found one lady working there in the slim wallet tent who wore these beautifully patterned baggy pants that looked like they were from Thailand but probably from California some 30 years ago! Omgosh they are truly back in style! My wife was so jelly!!! I lucked out as she didn't spend a fortune on anything but food & drink. Whew what a relief! Trying to downsize! Like what is that??? LOL Don't forget to swing by the Safeway tent & get your free apple. PIZAZZ!!! Humongous but worth it...I think we tried it recently back home at the last Farm to Fork Festival. Seriously!

There were very nice vendors there, some that I have never seen before. I know at least three of them have things for gifts I intend to buy. My only disappointment was where they had the beer booths. Some of my favorite breweries were on the outside area. Epidemic Ales you rock!!! Altamont brewery love ya. Calicraft brewery, I was happy to see you. I don't know if it was a local ordinance but there was beer inside the festival. But I wanted the ones on the outside area. Give them a try!!!
