Dr Odeliah made a home visit for our older Maltipoo Latte who was in need of some fluids and meds from not feeling well. This was so much less stressful on her than taking her out. It was the exact care she needed. We started many years ago with Dr Odeliah-even followed her to a new hospital! But now home care is available for some very much needed TLC.

When I got there, vet techs were waiting for me. Some of them took her back, and one took my story on what happened, and her symptoms. I had to call Pet Poison Line so they could tell the vets how to treat her-that's fine-and they wanted to do a full workup on her since she is 12. I said that's fine, that's what insurance is for. It was about 11pm when I was sent home to rest while they took care of her. At about two, they called me to tell me that she survived the nightshade poisoning, but they had found a thicker spot in her intestines in the x-ray, and they wanted to do follow-up images in the morning, so I got another estimate for them to keep her til the next day and run another round of x-rays and do an ultrasound. She stayed and I went back to sleep. In the morning, a very kind vet whose name I don't remember called me and went over what is happening and why that spot could be there. She gave me advice on how to proceed after today. She asked what food my cat eats so they could give it to her there too. I was kept in the loop the whole time from when I got there to when I picked her up at 4:30pm. It set me back about $3500. Thank God for pet insurance. But considering all they did and the overnight stay, not terrible. My cat's idiocy may have saved her bacon if we caught something early, but so did True Care's thoroughness.

Calls are rarely returned, communication is almost nonexistent, and getting something as simple as a prescription refill has turned into a nightmare. My dog depends on his medication to eat properly, yet I was told I now need to pay for another doctor's appointment just because the previous veterinarian left over a year ago -- something they never bothered to properly communicate to pet owners. How is that acceptable? To make matters worse, they don't even have appointments available until mid-July. So what exactly are patients supposed to do in the meantime? Wait until their pets are seriously suffering just to be seen and get medication they already rely on? There seems to be a complete lack of urgency, compassion, and accountability. Pet owners trust clinics with the wellbeing of their animals, and this experience has been beyond frustrating and honestly heartbreaking

They really like me, you think, as you sip the free La Croix from the fridge. I have a new home. This company is owned by Chewy. Modern Animal feels like every employee goes through rigorous training in psychological tactics for dealing with people -- like a Tony Robbins bootcamp for civility and the subtlest form of upselling. It left me feeling like they had control over me for a half hour, and an hour later, I wasn't feeling a lot of love for Modern Animal... nor was my wallet. They've come up with a brilliant model of unlimited visits for $199 a year, which I hear can be discounted to as low as $129. In principle, it sounds great -- until the heart of their business kicks in. And boy, does it. The softest of soft upselling. I needed flea meds for my dog and spent over $300, brought down to $250 with a first‑time coupon. I am going to be very careful with my numbers, as this organization really scares me. If I took all the things they suggested, it would have been over $500 -- just to get three pills to kill some fleas. You may ask, "Why did you go there?" And I would tell you: my vet closed early that day. Oh, I miss him so much. This really would be a fine spot for Kim Kardashian; I'm sure she would love it. This place is actually interesting in that, in my entire life, I have never seen such a well‑oiled dream factory with such an amazingly smooth way of extracting money from its customers. Here is what Copilot said -- and I realize AIs can be way off base at times, so this is not confirmed, verified, or to be taken as fact (yes, I am scared of them): Bottom Line Modern Animal is cheaper for unlimited exams but significantly more expensive for almost everything else. My final thoughts: if something serious came up and you went there with emotions running high, you could really take a hit. My suggestion would be to find a good old‑fashioned vet.

Throughout the years we have noticed the decline in customer service specifically from the reception team. Every time we call to make an appointment, I have felt very dismissed by the receptionist as she always sounds like I am bothering her, we have both always been helped by the same receptionist. This has been my experience with them for a while now, but my recent experience is what made me not want to go in for care anymore. I called to make an appointment on behalf of my sister as she was having an emergency, although I don't expect the receptionist to give me a solution and I do understand that there is no usual last-minute appointment (again we have been coming here for the last 4 years) I do expect the receptionist to be empathetic and helpful instead of sounding annoyed and being dismissive. I will note, Dr. Shim is amazing and is the only Dr. there who my sister and I have both had a great experience with and she is the only reason I would be back.

We were hesitant to pay that amount since it was an expense not expected especially after already paying for an initial check up and vaccinations elsewhere (our cat adopted us - she just showed up in the backyard so we took her under our wing since knew the shelters are so overpopulated). Dr. Shukhman is so kind and can tell helping animals is his passion. Had a follow up question after the surgery and Mauricio was so helpful too. If your pets pick up time is before 1PM, they will contact you. The expectation is for you to come pick up your animal promptly after the call to avoid stress on the animals so make sure you hang out close to the location if don't live close. The front desk workers as well; patient and kind. I think its customary for any vet to give you a full scope when offering an initial quote on procedures and medication. At times, it was fine with my budget and other times, it wasn't. Dr. A and staff were very responsive and cooperative when we had to approach dental surgery for my dog. I set boundaries for budget and they honored it. My pup will still need some work done down the road, but what Dr. A conveyed is that the work they did would significantly improve my dog's mouth comfort and minimize the likelihood of future infections. Unlike our previous experience where we were able to book ahead of time and plan for our pup's passing, this was a circumstance where our baby needed immediate services -- his body was failing. Once I saw our senior 13-yr old pup was telling me it was okay, I called Dr. Gonzalez at 7pm. She was at our home by 10pm. Our pup had been sick for several years, and in that last week, our primary vet had already told us his health was declining, so we at least knew the end was near. And I had already mentally prepared to be strong and let him go when he needed to -- so I had Dr. Gonzalez's number on hand. We live in an apartment building, so we reserved a spot for her in our lot as close as possible to an exit. She came upstairs to our home, and she had brought all her equipment. I had already imagined how I wanted this experience to go for my once in a lifetime soul pup. I sat on his favorite place on the sofa, and I had him in my lap. Dr. Gonzalez gave me a pee pad to wrap around him within the blanket understanding there could be an accident in the process as his body released his spirit. I had a candle lit. I had soft music playing. We had low lighting on to honor what was about to happen. Dr. Gonzalez was also super accommodating to our 2nd puppy who was curious about her and wondering what was happening to his big brother. She didn't shoo him away -- she invited us to keep the puppy around so he can know his big brother was about to pass on. She gave us time to speak to Nuxx, love on him, and then let him go. Then, it finally happened. And Dr. Gonzalez stepped out of our apartment for awhile, giving our little family time to grieve, sob, and hold our baby close. Our puppy sniffed him too and said his goodbyes. Then she came back, and she asked us if we wanted to be the ones to carry him out or she was happy to do so. My husband carried him, myself and our puppy followed along -- felt like a procession down our apartment hallway. We got to Dr. Gonzalez's car, and we gently placed our baby's body in her car, and said our goodbyes again. Then...it was done. Throughout the experience, Dr. Gonzalez was so incredibly supportive, gentle, understanding, and patient. What else can you ask for when such a heartbreaking thing is occurring? When a spirit is literally fading in your arms? I am still not over losing him, but at least I know we gave him the most peaceful send-off we could: in his own home, in our arms, surrounded by so much love. If / when we need to go through again, I will continue to call on Dr. Gonzalez. RIP Nuxx.
