COME ON IN, GET YOUR POSTCARDS!! was looking for picture postcards of the area because this area is overflowing with card-worthy scenes and scenery and this is where I found 'em. some are about the tri-cities and local goings on, some are period pieces, some are just kinda fun or funny. not really sure why postcards are so hard to find around here (or anywhere?) on the front is a better snap than most people will ever take and on the reverse there's usually an interesting bit of about the image on front... and after picking out postcards there's regular cards, playing cards, incenses, desk signs, finger puppets, refrigerator magnets, posters, games, all manner of t-shirts and puzzles, and candies and nostalgic references to the dawn of the nuclear age to amuse people of all ages who get that an entire world existed before they were told otherwise. read more

What a great shop with so much to browse I hope you have time when you step in the door. I just went for a couple of sympathy cards but could have spent an hour or more looking at the items. Ps the staff is exceptionally kind when I brought the cards to the check out. The selection of all kinds of cards is endless and the cool items are great for sticking stuffers, gags and specialty interest buying. So much to see so little time. If I could give no stars I would. These people are the rudest people. Pretty disrespectful and not welcoming at all. The owners will sit there follow you and glare at you the whole time. They've kicked my grandpa out for opening his mask to breath because he has breathing problems and threatened to kick my grandma out today. They have a whole wall of funky T-shirts, a bookcase of funny and trippy books, tons of gag gifts of every sort, bachelor/bachelorette gifts, incense-type stuff, a wide variety of greeting cards, The Simpsons stuff, and that's just naming a small part of what O.G.'s got goin' on. Not as R rated as Spencers, and not as Goth as Hot Topic, this is a small town store dedicated to the odd, quirky gifts and collectibles that loads of locals can't get enough of. If you have to buy a gift for someone you hardly know or know too well, you are likely to find something quite fitting in the Octopus' Garden. Loads of odd Barbies (Lucille Ball, the cast of Grease, Speed Racer, etc.), lunchboxes, unique cards, and funky strings of lights fill the walls and shelves here. Flavored lip balms, keychains games, multiple varieties of rubber ducks, and stuffed diseases are also part of the mix here. (No really, you can cuddle with Salmonella, he's cute.) The prices range from under a buck to over $50, and it's always free to look around. You'll find something to make you laugh or maybe even a little sick. Wow. This place is the epitome of quasi-nerd tchotchkas and gifts. Stars both Trek and Wars, comics, retro, ironic, political, goth-y, nuclear/Hanford, wacky mugs, incense, science, piercings, tshirts, tote bags, toys, candy, and a TON of greeting cards ranging from somber and thoughtful to bizarre and off the wall, and yes even a little perverse. I kind of got lost in this store for far longer than I should have. I ended up leaving with 2 sets of LED bike lights (red & white)...one for me and one for a friend. This design is on lanyards so nice to quickly attach to your helmet or backpack, or as a spare should your regular light fall off/die unexpectedly. Each SET was $3...kickass! I bought an Elvis Presley post card to send to my grandma, who just had heart surgery. I also took a picture of a greeting card as a "Valentine" to my other single friends...it says "You're the Mutt's Nuts". There were lots of other things I kinda wanted but knew I didn't have room to fly home with. If you're in the area, stop by before going to Hallmark or Bath and Body or whatever chain you usually buy gifts at. It's quite the sight to behold. If you don't live in the area and are here for work...honestly...what else were you going to do? Head back to the hotel after your dinner at PFChang's to watch reality TV? LAME. If you can't find something in here that you like or want to buy, chances are we'll never be best friends, which is really too bad since I know where you live and I've been watching you for the past couple days from your front lawn. I bought an absolute ton of stuff here. They sell toys that are stuffed microorganisms in the shape of diseases. Who would have thought the Black Death could be so cute AND cuddly!!! They have all sorts of DC and Marvel stuff. I got a children's book titled "My First Batman Book" with interactive stuff for kids 1+. I also bought a miniature chemistry set that has 16 different edible experiments. So you get to do science with your kid and eat! How awesome is that?!?! There's tons of cool stuff, please check this place out so we can be best friends...and I don't have to hide under your bed anymore... read more

All kinds of awesome things to find in here! Lots of nick-nacks, little quirky toys and cards that you may not find somewhere else. It is insanely cramped.. I mean i n s a n e l y. It's hard to navigate around people and you're hardly ever going to be able to just stand in one spot and look at something. I'm always having to move around for people just so they can get by. The smell is overwhelming, because the shop is on the small side and because one corner of it is loaded with incense, so if you have a sensitive head to fragrance, you might find it stifling. It's also a little annoying noticing a worker running around, darting in and out of people to make sure nobody is stealing anything. I understand and all, but maybe that's when you know you need a bigger store. The owner/staff are very friendly and nice, if I was giving a rating on them alone it would be a 5 instead of a 3. Personally, I've only found one or two things I've actually wanted to buy here. Aside from their big selection of items you wouldn't normally see in other stores, I haven't found anything special enough to really get, which is a little strange considering how many things they have tucked away in there. Everything seems like the kind of thing that you'll find lying around in your house later and think "Why in the world did I spend my money on this?" Considering the unpleasant and cramped environment, and how nothing in their selection is unique enough for me to justify buying it, I'd rather shop online! Or just.. somewhere else. :) read more

This store is really cute!! There was lots of toys, card games, greeting cards, pins, mugs etc. but I was mostly excited for the incense selection. It was bigger than the metaphysical store in the same area specializing in incense and spirituality. They're was all kinds of scents and different types. You could get the short sticks or longer ones. I got a handful of loose sticks and they were $.10 each. What a deal!! I was so excited I couldn't help grab every color of candle they provided. Again, the Lotus Of The Moon selling the same candles for $3 each. Where here, you can grab all 10 colors for $3. One is clearly the better deal! They had lovely burners for not much money at all. The workers were nice, friendly, and made me feel comfortable and welcomed. I will definitely return to this lovely little shop read more

My favorite store in tri cities! Perfect for visitors and locals . I buy all my gifts at this store ! Helpful staff and unique finds!

Normally I love this place, but today I was appalled to find a sign outside the door that read "Free Envelops." Did they hire Dan Quayle's estranged contrary twin? It's not a big deal, I just get urges to graffiti up bad signs. Anyway, this is the place to go (aside from Atomic Ale) if you want nuclear or Richland-themed goodies. Where else can you buy both a "My Friend the Atom" t-shirt and a perpetual motion machine? They also stock a category of items that I affectionately refer to as "quality crap" (Ramen noodles are an excellent example), joke gifts, fabulously hilarious cards, and pretty much a whole lotta random stuff. This is where I got my KitKat clock for my 1944 era kitchen. read more

I have no words. Every single time I've been, I was warmly greeted and asked if I needed help finding anything. Even after years of visits, it's never changed. The place is constantly stocked with amusing items, beautiful wall deco, candles, [awesome] incense, birthday cards, tye dye t-shirts/sweaters (which I've been looking for forever. Of course, Octopus' is just the place to go for this, and I didn't realize it until I actually went hunting for it). All in all, Uptown is the ultimate shopping center. I love the two new second-hand stores newly opened (Becky's Household items, and on the weekends, Estate sales in the old book shop), and serves as an amazing substitute for that daycare center we call a mall. read more

I remember when I was young enough to go into this store and feel completely comfortable. That was three grown children ago, I think! I forget. I'm that old. But I still go into OG once a year to find items to fill my adult children's Christmas stockings, and I come out feeling like I've dropped a few decades. It's a little like that movie Cocoon. And, like Kelly says, there is that smell. It takes me back and I love it. The owner of the store is wonderful, and always a face I love to see. The contents of the store are truly beyond description. Every item a treasure. Some hysterically funny, some uber retro cool, some little treasures, some just a little bit racy. Did you know there's an Octopus Garden Resort in Egypt? I haven't been to that one, however I have been to the OG in Richland, WA. First entering this shop the patchouli hit's you in the face like a brick wall. This shop has it all... They have a decent selection of super hero and manga style T-shirts which is what I was looking for in addition to are nice selection of books, and unique toys. This place is soo fun. Where else can you buy gummy boobs (surprise gift from my girlfriend) while I was picking out a pin up girl calendar and hunting for a hot little Bettie Page t-shirt for her. If you seek it, they probably have it. Give them a shout! They are super helpful. read more

You can get lost in this store for hours, if you let yourself. If you need a gift for someone who is hard to buy for...head to OG, tell the staff what you are looking for and you will find it. I go to OG about once a paycheck and find all kinds of lovely things I "need". I love their clothes imported from Kathmandu....I stock up on incense....and recently I went in there to buy some thankyou note cards; i'm talking just a nice set of stationary. (I used to live in a place where you could run to Papyrus and get a classy set of paper for note writing....sigh....) By far the best store in the Uptown it Is stuffed to the top of great finds and far prices. I go there for my body jewelry they have a great selection and are a great price. The employees there are cool besides that one skinny short blond girl but I would go in there anyway it is to great to pass up. If you are from out of town this is the tourist destination for you and if you are a towny and haven't been there yet than you are missing out. read more

There's all kinds of fun to be had snooping around this little gem. You can find incense, gag gifts, greeting cards, and other randoms at a reasonable cost. My only complaint is that this place is so effing crowded (with people and stuff). Though you may have to walk sideways to get to the items on the shelves, you are sure to find something interesting to take home with you. read more
