The trackside area is clean and the platform can fit many people at once and there is a large parking lot that can fit cars. Additionally if people want to park on Camino Capistrano (the street along the tracks) they have that option as well. The only wish I have is that this becomes an Amtrak station stop like Irvine and San Juan Capistrano as I think it would allow even more people to travel across the state from MV rather than be limited to just Metrolink. The Amtrak trains pass by us anyways so why not just build a tiny building trackside in the ample space that's currently being used for construction materials for an unrelated project and make it an Amtrak stop.

You're near the friggin' airport! True, but the Spectrum area gets all the attention. They have the train station, they have the cool shopping area. Sure, we're close to south coast, and we have all those nifty protected right turns here, but public transportation from outside of Irvine kind of sucks for those of us that work or are starting to live here. Plus, we don't have things like those Grade 1 bike trails that are available to the spectrumites (i.e. San Diego Creek). Not no more. Irvine recently got fundage from OCTA to start this nifty little shuttle service that runs on 3 routes: the A - Route going from Tustin Metrolink to John Wayne the B - Route going from Tustin Metrolink to Jamboree/Michelson (Pacific Park Shopping Center) the C - Route which runs around the heart of the IBC in a circle like a 5 year old manchild on a couple of pixie sticks. So, it doesn't go EVERYwhere, but it can get you close enough to where you're going if you're a commuter (like moi) who's trying to drive less. Since it's a new service, everything is... well, new. The shuttles are nice and clean. They look like those "special" school buses, the type that almost look like they would do well in a "Mad Max" futuristic world with spikes and what not. I think the Bike Rack at the front really helps with that image. Oh yeah, they have bike racks, so you can pedal your way from your stop to your work/play area if you so desire. Really useful for those that pedal their way to Metrolink too. All in all, I like it. Right now, rides are free until Sept 1st 2008. Afterwards, the fee to ride breaks down like this: $1.00 Boarding During Peak Period (5:30a - 9:30a and 3:30p - 7:30p on Weekdays) $.50 Boarding During Off-Peak Period (9:30a - 3:30p Weekdays & All Day Saturday and Sunday) FREE Riders Presenting Valid Metrolink Pass/ Ticket for Rider Connecting to and from Tustin Metrolink Station Only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars? (I suppose trains like this stay this clean and pristine because San Diego hasn't got Chicago's awful weather). I took the Coaster to Old Town to meet a friend for dinner before I went to the airport on my way out of town. Service operates primarily during weekday peak periods, but there is also limited weekday midday, Friday evening, and Saturday service. Special evening service is provided when the San Diego Padres play Monday-Thursday evening home games. The only thing that bugged me is there was no one to collect the ticket I bought at the station before boarding. This was 100% honor system, and I suspect it's widely abused to the disadvantage of the transit authority, but maybe they save more money than they lose this way by not employing conductors.

The restrooms are always clean and available. The station itself is clean and easy to navigate. There's always plenty of parking. It definitely isn't walking distance to any stores/markets so keep that in mind, although they do have vending machines and a large waiting room.

My personal recommendation is the French vanilla cappucino which is delicious and great for a morning drink or for a nice sip on the way home after a long day at the office. The current machine is new and has a lot of options and this difference elevate my Irvine station appearance to 5 stars. Highly recommend for those commuting from an Amtrak station to a Non Amtrak station who see an Amtrak train before their metrolink train. This is my favorite train station to wait at even if only for 15 minutes. I wasn't sure the format but it was easy enough just to text and tell them where I was and where I wanted to go. Then BAM they replied and said they were on their way! Also, if you see them you can just wave them down! My first and favorite driver was Angela. She was so nice and professional. She was so pleasant, explaining the service (since it was my first ride) and represented the business so well that I gave them 5 stars! They run every day of the week from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Some places they go are: The Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey Marina del Rey Marriott Hilton Garden Inn Los Angeles, Marina del Rey Cafe del Rey Whiskey Red's Fisherman's Village Waterside Washington Square/ Venice Pier Wish I knew about this sooner. The serive was timely, reliable and friendly. Unfortunately, through time the service has significantly gone downhill and we will not be using this service in the future. The cars are not up to par with safety precautions and the drivers are late, which matters significantly for early flights. We chose private car service to avoid travel anxiety but in this case Uber/Lyft would be more reliable. Wish I could say more positive things but wanted to share my experience so others won't have to go through it.
