The bartenders know exactly how to make a cocktail the way you like it, and the drinks are consistently spot-on. What can I say? The experience was enchanting. The atmosphere was delightful as was our waitress. Kiki was amazing! She answered all our questions and my hubby is a handful to say the least! She handled him with ease and was very entertaining to boot! I had the cod fish and I love spicy and it was yummy with some Tabasco sauce. My husband had a sirloin steak which was delicious! Amazing that for a town of 35,000 that this is now the only decent sit-down restaurant, and it's really 50% restaurant 50% bar that can get pretty loud. A restaurant that serves something other than Mexican food or hamburgers although 822 serves that too. The ambiance of this restaurant is genuinely nice, but unfortunately that's where the positives end. The service overall was disappointing, though I want to be clear that our waiter was extremely kind and professional. She checked on us multiple times, kept us updated, and assured us the kitchen was working on our food. She did everything she reasonably could, so I don't believe the issue was with her. It seemed to be a lack of oversight or organization in the kitchen. We were seated at 9:06 PM, didn't get to place our order until around 9:20 PM, and all we ordered were pork belly tacos and a chicken breast entrée--nothing particularly complex. Despite that, our food didn't arrive until 10:10 PM--about 50 minutes after ordering and over an hour after being seated. What made the experience even more disappointing was the food itself. For all the hype this restaurant gets, the food was bland and underwhelming, especially for the price. After waiting nearly an hour, we expected a meal that justified both the cost and the wait. Instead, it lacked flavor and left us wondering what all the hype was about. A nice atmosphere can only carry a restaurant so far. When the kitchen loses track of orders and the food doesn't live up to its reputation, it creates a frustrating experience. I hope management takes a hard look at their kitchen operations because the front-of-house staff shouldn't have to apologize for issues that appear to be happening behind the scenes. read more

Nice place to celebrate our evening and good variety of choices for a menu. The burger was top notch and the ribeye was cooked perfectly and had great "char" flavoring. I do wish the ribeye came with a side of something, possibly small vege, salad or even a garnish but it was just a slap of meat on a plate. They both were excellent and what flavor! My hubby then had the fish tacos and those also were phenomenal. This place get 1 star from me because of the treatment I received. Discrimination Sucks!!! My boys and I went out to a nice new restaurant here in Del Rio. Once again we were treated like outsiders. The owner, who I had met a week prior, spoke to every table around us but not once did he speak to us. I was very disappointed with this treatment especially after spending over $100 in his establishment. I decided not to take my frustration out on my waitress and still tipped her well (over 15%). Ok...so have been here lots of times. It is one of two good restaurants in the city. Yes, Del Rio has dozens of fast food restaurants but those dont count. Ocho's atmosphere is the best in Del Rio for sure. Food is also good and for some reason they manage to bring in unique menu items (for example escargot). Anyway, I really want them to add a red pasta dish to the menu. They have alfredo so why not? Especially since there is NO Italian restaurant in the city. I just want their menu to be a little more varied (it is mostly burgers and steaks, and there are several restaurants in the city that already have those...and Ocho's similar items arent necessarily always any better). They sometimes have a fish dish and I've tried it every time I've gone (almost) but although the fish is good, the recipes for it arent. Service is outstanding and is superior to any other restaurant in the city. We feel like royalty when we dine there. We will continue to go as the atmosphere is really lovely; it seems like the type of restaurant that you'd find in a big city. We're glad its there. read more
