Gems and amazing rocks we collected during our dig Jan 1, 2026

Our entire family decided to take our 9 kids to dig and collect gems and rocks. It was an amazing experience! It was pouring down rain but they didn't cancel and neither did we. We had our jackets, kids, shovels and buckets and went to work. Our kids (ranging from 4 yrs to 12 years) and our group of adults ranging from 13 years to 70 years had an amazing time and get to keep all the amazing rocks and gems we collected. Lauren and Nate were so helpful and their positivity braving the weather encouraged us to be excited for the dig and have a great time. Highly recommend doing this with the family. You won't regret it!

Nice piece of quartz. Cloudy. I find them All over BLM land. Cool to find one in front of people that don't realize how common they are lol

Fun for the kids! Kind of expensive you get to dig through the leftover dirt from the mine so pretty much all the good stuff's taken out of it. You may get luckily and find a good find. Think of it as the casino go to have fun! But don't go to find that money gem! I would go back for the kids. The people that are working there are A+ employees very helpful answers any questions. they make it very fun and educational. Most definitely bring the kids.

What a fun experience! My husband made the reservations for us to have a date day and I wasn't disappointed. As an avid seashell hunter this was literally right up my ally. We worked very hard and we're rewarded. We found so many nice crystals which included a beautiful watermelon crystal. We bought gloves for sifting and ladies if you want to save your nails like me, wear gloves. I ordered some off Amazon and we got our 5 gallon buckets at Home Depot. We packed our own lunch with cooler which we didn't use until it was time to go. The time goes by fast when you're digging. They do give a small tour around the property but you get to view from the UTV. You can bring your own umbrella with stand to shade from the sun because it can get hot and sunny out there. They have running water and bathrooms so no worries thinking you're stuck in the mountains with an out house. We had Chris and Lauren attending to us during our reservation. They were super nice and knowledgeable about the mine, property and stones. The driveway to the main area is a steep, rocky uphill dirt road. We have a smaller SUV and the tires did okay, spun a couple of times, however, I wouldn't drive a car to this location. SUV or truck is the only way to go imo. I would highly recommend this mine to anyone who wants to hunt for real treasure. Pala Casino and Resort is an 11 minute drive from the mine. We decide to take advantage and book a room to stay the night. Best decision ever! Was a nice little local getaway that we will definitely be doing again!

Very fun experience. You can bring your own easy-up. The rock-cleaning water keeps you cool when it's really hot. It's a bit of a workout, so amazing to stay at Pala casino just down the road and relax the rest of the day!

We visited Oceanview mine on Sunday, Jan 28, 2024. We had such a great time! The staff, Steve and Chris were soooooo nice and helpful. Steve took us on a tour up the mountain to view the mining areas. He was super knowledgable about all things mining from the history of the mine to how to identify where to find the gem pockets. You can tell that Steve has a passion for this industry. Found a few nice gems, you definitely need to screen plenty of buckets to find good pieces. I plan to come back with more friends in April!!!

With that being said we also had a fun! They adapted to our riders on the tour. It was a mix of what we thought were quiet reserved personalities, friends, couples and families. They kept our purchases and personal items safe so we didn't have to carry them around all day. Gathered the forgetful and happy tourist back to bus to keep us on time. The music on trolley had variety of range for everyone. During the trolley tour all had bonded and became very comfortable with each other. On the way back to hotel everyone feeling happy and relaxed enjoyed themselves bobbing our heads and dancing to the mix of music provided. Although I may never see our group. I enjoyed bonding, sharing and learning about their lives if just for that day. We visited three wineries all a different vibe. One small family owned gave a traditional tour (saw where they processed wine appreciated that because the others didn't) loved the drunk bunny story!!! Barcelona started at a tapas bar where we chose tapas from a buffet in a rustic atmosphere of archways made of giant stones, Then a Barcelona tour that included architecture from the Roman era to Gaudi's creations and a view of America's Cup race in the Marina. A train took us to Alicante where we stayed in a Palace that was 100 feet away from the plaza full of sidewalk cafes! Paid a visit to the Miguel Cervantes tribute (Author of Don Quixote), the plaza, and marina. Next was Seville, where we took a tour and stopped at a Pizza restaurant -- walked around some landmarks, and prepped for our 4 days in Madrid. There we had an amazing Tapas and Wine Tour, visited Prado Museum, and other historical sites, and yes, discovered some amazing cafe/restaurants right around the corner from our hotel. Found the best Paella in Spain, discovered new wines, and found a restaurant "Jardin Secreto" overlooking the plaza. (from a list of hidden dining gems thanks to tour guide Patricia Willems.) There is no way I could have arranged or found everything myself. It was definitely a one-of-a-kind experience.

This was my first time on a quad/ATV and my boyfriend has been riding dirt bikes since he was like 6yrs old. I love being outdoors & going on new adventures, and he loves riding ... so the mixture of those things i came upon this place. For birthdays I love and prefer creating memories instead of giving materialistic gifts. Example: For his 28th birthday I booked us a little personal speed boat in San Diego. Upon arrival check-in was easy, quick, and they gave us hand sanitizer so we felt assured. They had helmets and other PPE lined up and available for us to use, however we had brought our own (riding gloves, riding jerseys, riding DOT certified helmets, and googles) which they allow. Our guide Jorge was funny and very easy going. The ride overall was really fun!! During our ride our guide also took pictures of us and he took some awesome ones with amazing backdrops! The only complaint I have was that I only booked us the 1 hour ride. Next time we are doing the 2 hour ride for sure! And maybe the Big Bear location as well.
