Rented a great Airbnb in North Myrtle Beach, SC with the family. The Maisons Sur Mer condominium…read moreon the 15th floor had 3 balconies all with an ocean view, and a private beach. It had two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The accommodations were very nice, and we rented a golf cart (located across the street). Unfortunately, we couldn't park it in the condo parking lot, but the cart rental company let us park it in their back lot. Fair price too, about $250 for a 4 day rental. Plus we could drive pretty much everywhere except the highways. Anyway, back to the accommodations. This was an older condo complex built back in the 1970's, but had undergone a major renovation on the inside. It also had a nice sized outdoor pool, and had a private beach with soft fine sand. The beach was immaculate, with no seaweed, and gentle waves. Great for swimming, but not so great for sea shelling. There were two restaurants located inside, but they were closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Both had a dress code that required a collared shirt, and no hats. They had a pretty extensive set of rules as well, including a 10 pm noise curfew (we were probably the youngest people in the complex). Also, no rolling luggage carts allowed in the lobby. Personal rolling suitcases were fine though. The large luggage carts were located in the basement, and could only be used in the elevators and upper condo floors. One thing that bothered me though was the men's restroom located in the lobby. It was very clean, but it didn't have any soap. No dispenser or bar soap of any kind. Strange and unsanitary. All in all this was a great vacation getaway, and we still have two more days here! The rental for the unit was through Big Fish Rentals. Their rental policy was pretty in-depth, but they responded quickly to any questions or concerns I had. I'd stay here again. I'd write more, but I'm off to the beach!

My wife and I have been resident-owners for the past 1.5 years. Here's what you need to know first…read moreabout living in the Maison sur-Mer building. 1. It's a constant noisy daily construction zone. Everyday there's drilling or hammering that echos throughout the building. It's very annoying so if you're looking for daily peace and quiet this is not your place. 2. It's an old building that just celebrated it's 50th anniversary. Water pipes are constantly breaking or leaking, there's a lack of electrical outlets, the building design acts as a wind tunnel so there's always a 20-30 knot wind that blows constantly. 3. The building is made of concrete and steel so there's always concrete dust that covers everything in your unit and the underground garage. If you enjoy a clean living space or want your car to to remain dust free don't come here. 4. Most permanent residents are older, retired and not very friendly. If you want to make friends here buy a dog, you'll be happier. Speaking of dogs, the HOA has very strict animal ownership rules so check them before you purchase here. You may not be able to bring your pet. 5. It's expensive to liver here. Expect to pay approximately $2,000/month in HOA and separate building insurance fees. If you're on a tight budget living here is not a good choice because these fees increase yearly. I've posted quite a few major negative things why living/purchasing a unit in the Maison sur-Mer is not a good choice and I can't recommend it. I could have posted a lot more. But there's also a plus side the living here too. 1. The building staff and security personnel are very friendly and helpful. 2. The HOA is very active and trying to improve the living conditions. 3. The building location is very close to major medical, good restaurants, shopping, entertainment, major roadways, and the ocean. You're within approximately 2-3 miles of everything you may need on a daily basis. 4. Because of it's proximity to a lot of activities you don't need to travel into Myrtle Beach which is not a good idea during the summer and biker weeks.

The place could use a few simple additions (a bed skirt on the master bed, missing knobs in the bathroom) and is a little outdated (wallpaper, paint, fixtures) but overall was not bad. The cleaning was okay however i did find dust behind a-lot of the furniture in the bedrooms and the carpeting in the hallways and bedrooms look like they need a steam cleaning. Overall if someone gave this place just a little extra attention it could be excellent. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was stocked more than I had anticipated which was nice. The water pressure in the shower I used in my bedroom was great which I appreciated. The pool was great and had a nice area with a shower and hose to clean sand from yourself. This unit was ocean front and we were from front door to beach in 30 seconds! They also have two propane grills in working order if you wanted to grill. If you desire a condo that has filthy floors and piss around the bottom of the toliets (that you…read morehave to clean yourself) and you like being accused of causing the mess, I would definitely recommend this rental company to you! We arrived at the condo after lunch on Saturday 8/29/2026. While unpacking we noticed that the bottom of our feet were turning black and sticky. Anyone that has ever been to the beach knows that the bottom of your feet will get dirty just from walking on the beach, etc. However, I did not expect that the first couple of hours after we checked in. The reason I did not expect dirty feet was because we had not even gone down to the beach yet. So, after driving 3 hours to get to the condo, we drove to Walmart to get a broom to at least be able to sweep the floors. Sunday morning - before even going to the beach, I looked for a mop. One was not to be found. So, I improvised. I tied a bath towel around the broom I bought and mopped the entire condo with hot, soapy water. I had to rinse and re-mop several times in order to get the floors clean. I sent pics of the mess we had swept up and the way the towels looked after mopping each area of the condo. I asked for more towels to use for bathing (since I used the ones provided to clean floors) and yes, they were delivered to me...in a trash bag outside of my condo door). During our weeklong stay, I did not hear from anyone addressing this issue. It was only after I sent an email stating that I would be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau that I was responded to. I am including copies of the correspondence as well as the pictures. I will let anyone reading this review decide for yourselves if this is the level of cleanliness and customer service that you desire. As for myself and my family, it is not. I would be remiss if I did not state that I received 2 checks in the amount of $41.20 each. These were supposedly to reimburse me for the cleaning fee. Be careful if booking with this company.
