I've been training at Oceanside Jiu Jitsu for 10 years, the coaches and students create such a positive and supportive environment for all ages and skill levels. It's an amazing place to grow, learn, and be part of a great team! read more

Both my girls have been training for 3 years. Professor Nat, Coach Isabella, and Coach Kristian are amazing. It's a studio all about the kids and developing them into well discipline, strong, kids. My girls have so much fun. Oceanside Jiu Jitsu is a family and community. read more

I was able to drop in on a 6:30 PM Friday night gi class. It was focused on Judo for Jiu Jitsu. I reached out via Instagram and head back from Professor Nat quickly. I got to the academy and was greeted by Professor Nat and signed a waiver. There were a handful of students for this class and within the class time there were warm-ups, takedown technics, nagekomi, randori rounds, and live rolling rounds. Professor Nat is a great instructor; very detailed and made sure to correct any mistakes he noticed. The academy is full of tough and technical students! It was a great class and thank you for allowing me to purchase an academy shirt! read more

My daughter loves this place! Staff is incredible and the training is excellent. She's been attending for about 6 months and has even in that short amount of time developed some excellent skills. I highly recommend them! read more

Just dropped in today. Very welcoming gym and great instruction. 10/10 would recommend to anyone wanting to train GI in Oceanside!

Professor Nat is an excellent coach and his banter cracks me up. A lot of people with soft skin sometimes get offended but the man has dedicated his life to BJJ and is tough as nails. He is also very concerned about making sure rolling is done safely, highly focused on good technique, builds solid comradery among his students, and it's just a great place to train overall. read more

"Discipline at its Finest Levels" is what you'll find at Oceanside Jiu-Jistu. You will not find socializing or a casual approach to the instruction. The Staff here also watches their students closely to ensure that there isn't any misuse of power/abilities. In the event that a student demonstrates a lack of control, they are corrected immediately. It is exceptionally clear that Oceanside Jiu-Jitsu is a 100% Learning Environment from beginning to end. Professor Nathanael is precise in his instruction and thoroughly explains the Real Life application of each move. There is also extensive time spent on what NOT to do in terms of instinctual responses when having to defend oneself. The depth of each session with Professor Nathanael builds endless confidence in each student that is unique to his teaching style. Coach Kristien is also instrumental in communicating and encouraging students to move forward into the Competitive realm of Jiu-Jitsu. Her ability to communicate with students and empower them to grow in this sport is phenomenal. Coach Yasmin, is also a great role model and assists the Staff in a way that allows for all students to take her lead into this organization. Oceanside Jiu-Jitsu has gone to great lengths to build a solid program that is truly worth the investment. Without any hesitation, I recommend Oceanside Jiu-Jitsu. read more

6/2019: our son started here not too long ago. The place is very clean and structured, which we love. The instructors are wonderful and patient. Our son really enjoys attending. We highly recommend this Jiu Jitsu school. read more

I was recommended to this gym from a friend and I was very impressed with the 1st class we were able to join as a test. My son has been at this gym for a couple months now. He is 5 and surprises me when he is able to walk me through the steps of various moves they are teaching him. He is actually learning self defense techniques and takes pride in knowing the oath and how to tie his own belt. I'm proud of him and the growth he's had since joining this gym. read more

So if you are looking for a great place to learn self defense, have a good workout, and have a great time doing it, this is the place. I haven't trained in Jui Jitsu for a very, very long time and I'm glad they did not throw me in with the colored belts and get my a** kicked. This Dojo is very structured, organized, and the instructions, and techniques are explained precisely and clearly, because if you don't, people can get hurt. If I can give this Dojo a ten stars, I would! I would also like to give thanks to my instructor Phil, newaza partner Conor and Oceanside JiuJitsu Professor Nathanael Soli for allowing me to practice with them tonight. You guys are awesome, and very professional, thank you very much! read more

After visiting a few other jiu jitsu places in the area (and in Kentucky, strangely enough), Oceanside Jiu Jitsu is definitely the best place for me to train jiu jitsu. The atmosphere is a bit more laid back than other places, which tend to be filled with either overly macho grunts that want to throw you on your head at all costs or blue/purple belts that think the Ezekiel choke is the holy grail of jiu jitsu. Nat and Brendan are both very good instructors that clearly are teaching because they are passionate and have dedicated their lives to jiu jitsu. This is not the place to train if you just want to tell your friends you are a black belt in something. If you want to do that, just learn tae kwon do, know that you will get your next belt every 3 months or however often it is, and be able to defend yourself from paraplegics and small children. If you want to be able to defend yourself and have more self-confidence, this is simply the place to be. By the time you get your blue belt here, you will have no doubt in your mind that you have earned it, and I would put you up against a random Joe that has 40+ pounds on you no problem. Don't be intimidated to come in and learn. Nobody at Oceanside Jiu Jitsu is perfect and everyone is very accepting. There are people that weigh 140 lbs and there are people that weigh 225 lbs. I would at least recommend coming in and trying a free class or 2. read more

I love this place. I travel to California frequently and always make sure to stop in to learn something new from Professor Nat! The staff and people who train here are super friendly. The facility is top notch and I was just really impressed with how things are done here. If you are lucky enough to live close by and have an interest in learning the arts, I would highly recommend this place. I travel extensively and have been to many gyms and this is a top notch place for sure! Great people, great facility, and of course great teacher! read more

My children love everything about Oceanside Jiujitsu. At first they were nervous to even want to try it out. After the first class my son who is 10 and daughter who is 7 were all about pursuing Jiujitsu. The Master and instructors have a great program that keeps children committed and focused. My children love it therefore I love it! read more

My daughter and I are both students of Oceanside Jiu Jitsu. Under the effective instruction of Professor Nat & Coaches, my daughter has consistently progressed in her understanding of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Jiu Jitsu has benefited her in other aspects - patience, respect, physical health and team work; just to name a few! Professor Nat is very knowledgeable! His expertise and experience are evident through his instruction! The team is awesome. Good training partners and good people all around. There are no egos; just good solid technique, people wanting to learn and train! I love that there are afternoon and evening classes. We recommend Oceanside Jiu Jitsu to anyone looking to train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! P.S. 5 Stars for cleanliness too!! read more

Amazing JiuJitsu instruction for adults and children! Nate is a great coach. Firm and fair. The techniques are excellent and taught with care and precision. read more

I have been coming to Oceanside Jiu Jitsu for about a year. Nat and Brendan are great instructors. They are very eager to teach. I have learned a new ideas about jiu jitsu since coming to this gym. My jiu jitsu is better now than if I stayed in the Bay Area for Jiu Jitsu. Numerous questions I have asked about jiu jitsu and Nat has answered very intelligently on the specific position. The class starts off with warm ups i.e. light running, hip escapes, stretching. Then we may do some stand up techniques with the occasional grip break drill. We move on to the ground for a position that can branch of to positions as the class progresses. After 30 minutes or so we drill specific positions. Which helps us ingrain the position in our muscle memory better. Then the last 20 to 30 minutes is free sparing on the ground. The gym is very clean. They have boxes for each student to put their belongings during class. The location is off the 5. My journey as a white belt was long and arduous so when I was awarded my blue belt I felt accomplished because Oceanside Jiu Jitsu has such a high standard and tradition with Ribeiro Jiu Jitsu. read more

Oceanside jiu jitsu is a great place to train! I have been coming to this academy for 7 months now and I'm not going anywhere! The instruction from professor Nat and coach Jesse is impeccable. The instruction is the best I have ever had. Everyone on the team is super friendly and good training partners. I would definitely recommend anyone to come check out a class and see for yourself. Also, they host seminars From top level black belts! In the short time I have been here they have had Xande Ribiero and Rafael Lovato Jr. ( both multiple time black belt world champions). It doesn't get any better than that! read more

I went to this gym a few weeks ago while I was in town for a week, And all I can say is that it is nothing short of Amazing. The facility is super clean and the energy is awesome. Brendan and Nat are fantastic instructors. I highly recommend this gym if you are looking for a place to get great instruction in a welcoming atmosphere. read more

Thanks Instructor Nat for letting me train with your team this afternoon. I couldn't ask for a better way to spend my vacation than catching an extra session in a great training environment. I definitely recommend this gym. - Nick read more

My son has been at Oceanside Jiu Jitsu for a little while now and he LOVES it! This is the first sport that he actually wants to stick with and I am so glad that we chose this place because they are great with the kids. read more

Me and my wife train here and it's the best Jiu-Jitsu school in the area, hands down. The instructor is a Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu black belt (if you don't know who Saulo or Xande Ribeiro is, look them up) which is as good as it gets. It's definitely a team atmosphere where everyone knows everyone each others name and we all keep it technical and friendly on the mats (speakings of mats, it's the largest mat space I've seen). There's some places in Oceanside that are sketchy at best, do your research before training anywhere, check out instructor lineage, competition record, etc, otherwise you might end up at a place where you learn poor technique or get hurt. You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't check this place out. read more

I must say that Oceanside Jiu jitsu is an amazing place. I recommend it to anyone looking to attend or take their children. My daughter is 5 and I can honestly say professor Nat and coach Jackie have helped develop her skills so much. They're extremely professional and patient. Thank you so much for an amazing experience!! read more

My son started going here last month. They were very welcoming and helped with all the questions I had. My son loves going! Plan on keeping him in for as long as possible! read more

We love Oceanside Jiujitsu! Especially the little samurai program. My children (6 and 4) both participate and love it!!!! Professor Nat does a wonderful job with the kids. (The right balance of fun, learning and and discipline) We will be moving soon and can only hope to find such a wonderful program where it is evident that they really care about the kids! read more

Professor Nat has taught so much to my son and he's come so far, beaming with self confidence and also developing a love for jiu jitsu. My son thinks he's a good role model and if my kid is happy and learning something, then that's a really good thing. He's not just another kid in the class, they actually get to know your kids and are constantly challenging them to do their best. Just before school ended he was approached by three older kids at school and they tried to gang up on him and take something from him. He was able to stand up for himself and defend himself. Highly recommend. read more

Oceanside Jiu Jitsu is awesome! Each of the coaches are vested and are very knowledgeable. I have been bringing my son here for over a year now and would never want to bring him anywhere else. He has learned a lot and is being taught many skills along with discipline as well. The professor is at each class and learns each of the kids as individuals. Such a great place. I highly recommend Oceanside Jiu Jitsu! read more

World class instruction from a premier black belt. Professor Nat is an incredible teacher. He's great with kids and can take anyone, regardless of skill or ability, and make you a technical Jiu jitsu artist. The rest of the folks here are perhaps the most level-headed people I've ever met....just really great people that are very welcoming. There are no egos here, everyone is here to help each other along...a real team/family environment. read more

I have been looking for a martial arts program for my kids, age 7 and 9, for a long time now. I checked out quite a few before I got to Oceanside Jiu Jitsu and I am so glad I did! I went to some gyms that were very well known and was not impressed with there program at all. I felt like they were more interested in money then my children getting quality training. Some mixed martial arts places i checked out, Jiu Jitsu, one of the most important fundamental aspects to mixed martial arts, was not being emphasized, they were teaching a little of a lot of different arts, which may be okay for some but that's not what i was looking for. OJJ has given my children awesome training and confidence. Brendan, Nat and Penny are great, my kids respect them and want to be just as good as they are someday. I can't wait to get by youngest started, she can't wait either! So glad I found this program! read more

Love coming here to train! I have never done martial arts before nor was I ever on a sports team of any kind. Yoga was as much exercise as I would get. My husband has been into jiu jitsu so it was only a matter of time till he dragged me onto the mats. The team at Oceanside Jiu Jitsu is a great team to be on, put together by fantastic instructors who also make sure we are learning the techniques and encourage everyone to go out and compete. As a girl, I never felt out of place or like I couldn't do something. It is kind of empowering to be practicing such a great sport, so to any female out there reading this and thinking about coming in: Do it!! read more
