With prices like that it's unsurprising that this is a bit of a student haunt, at least on the night I went along anyway. The Bristol uni hordes manage to fill up the three rooms and garden out the back, creating a proper buzz on a Friday night. They also make a long queue, which combined with the five pounds asked for some nights makes this place slightly less attractive that it otherwise would be. That the only criticism I can think of is because this place is popular should tell you that you won't be disappointed by a night out at Bunker.

On the other side I have been severely let down in the past. I will explain...... Situated near Clifton Triangle and Park Street, The Bunker nightclub is open 6 nights a week with drinks starting from £1, popular DJ's, 3 rooms and a very large smoking garden. The queuing can be quite ridiculous so make sure you do not get there to late. Music ranges from chart music to dance and drum and bass with a raised seating area and large dance floor. The toilets are fairly small so expect a queue. On one particular night, they had let in far too many people on the venues legal capacity resulting in a 'power cut', which then the venue turned very much into 'a war bunker' with emergency lighting and scared people. Magically all the staff swiftly disappeared and there was literally no-one to tell us what was happening. Everyone started to pile towards the stairs to leave and no joke I was almost crushed to death and £5 out of pocket from the entrance fee. I was not happy!

They have a few specific nights that I can't quite remember, I think thursday is a cheap night and saturday is the most popular. Usually drinks are pretty cheap, the music is okay though once you've been there once you've probably heard the entirety of the DJ's music collection. The place itself is pretty bad, the floor is always sticky (nightclub tradition I know.) it's very very dark, which I suppose suits the "theme" but can get a bit annoying. Despite all the flaws I've kept going over the course of two years in Swansea, it definitely has something that the other clubs don't, check it out if you're into the music.

The indie room sound system is poorly set up (all bass and high notes. No treble). The ceiling used to drip but my last visit it didnt... and after 1am all you can smell upstairs is damp... Just as well the drinks are so cheap! You have to be comatosed to put up with it... Now the good points: - The bouncers are all great, not stuck up powertrippers like other places. - Drinks are cheap. Summary: If your absolutely bladdered you may enjoy. Tipsy or sober it is a dive. (Ive been going there on and off once every few months since it opened. Ive stopped going there since two months ago. They may have turned it around in those two months but after 2years or so of it being a real dive i doubt it...)

Great nights can be had in abundance at this place. Whatever your orientation, you'll feel welcomed…read moreand comfortable here. It's very relaxed and friendly, without lowering itself to sleazy standards. I know lots of gay clubs where straight girls have a ball in, but straight guys wouldn't be seen dead in. But this one is different, many of my male friends have been on night here and only left when the bouncers kicked them out at dawn. But maybe that's just my friends... The most memorable thing about Pulse has to be the shows they put on. If you go on a busy night (Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and many in between) then you'll almost certainly be graced with the luxury of one of these shows. Imagine drag queens, nudity and audience participation, and you'll be pretty much there on the mark. Go to Pulse and YMCA your night away!

I escorted a gay friend of mine to Pulse once, and both of us ended up spending the entire night…read moresat outside in the smoking area. This was not because the music was awful (it wasn't great but it's a club so I didn't expect it to be), and it wasn't because I felt uncomfortable being in a gay bar. Well, actually I did feel uncomfortable, but that was because of the ridiculous amount of straight men that seemed to be everywhere trying to get lucky. Whether they had gone to Pulse out of a desperate need to watch girls kissing girls, or whether they were there hunting down the straight girls who had tagged along with their gay friends or who'd let their guard down because they thought they'd be left alone in a club full of gay men, I don't know, but either way it was not cool. For some reason it was worse than being chatted up by a guy in another club. I felt targeted and they were a much lower class of bloke than the usual prats that chase girls around clubs. But aside from that, this isn't a bad club. In fact, when I've been there with more people since that awful first time, I've had a lot of fun. It's a bit hard to navigate your way around, especially when you've been drinking, but it's nice to have a separate seated area away from the dance floor where you can catch your breath and chat to your mates with out having to go outside. A pretty good night so long as you're not a straight girl going there under the false assumption that it's a night away from the attentions of desperate lads.
