I'd never return. They have complete control over the room temperature. Despite that at 3pm I texted their service about it and they wrote IN TEXT how they lowered it, they claim they don't regulate it. How ever all night long, I couldn't get the temperature below 70 degrees. At 5:30 am I texted the service. 15 minutes later they text me stating they lowered it to 62. I didn't read that message until 7:30 am. They completely deny regulating the temperature. We have a big argument about it, BECAUSE THEY'RE LYING. The owner Adriana, I think her name it, shows up to my room to state how the room temp was 68. YES AT 7:30 AM AFTER YOU ADJUSTED IT DUE TO MY TEXT COMPLAINT. DUH. She doesn't like that I pointed that out to her, and she wants to stomp her feet that I am being rude and she will not tolerate me being disrespectful to her, well I feel the same way liar. She will not leave MY ROOM, as I had already started to pack to leave and canceled the rest of the week which they agreed to refund me for. She is so stubborn that she held her one foot in the doorway so I could not close the door until she had her say in the matter. She thinks she owns the property and therefore doesn't have to leave MY ROOM. It's mine until 10 am, unless I am committing a crime. I literally had to close the door on her to get her out. I have all the proof in the world on text messages that they control the AC. I hope she saved $10 and appreciates my horrible experience and living with this review. read more

To replace our Summer preplanned Aruba trip, we've done day trips and picnics to sort of make up for the fun during the pandemic. Truthfully though, my biggest summer hangups have been staying in a hotel, going to the beach and making sure no one is hovering over me. But I bent a bit and felt more at ease with taking a long weekend trip- especially since New York pandemic numbers are looking all right. Even though Ocean View Terrace has a motel-y look in person, they got away from the kitsch for more chic- and hubs went with it. Not necessarily situated on the water, but the bay IS actually Ocean View Terrace's biggest selling point at this compact 'Inn' from across the street on Montauk Hwy in Hamptons Bays. There are other noteworthy features: our airy and cheerful room has modern plank flooring, eating area, walk-in shower, beds had clean super crisp white sheets, walls were clean, AC, small deck, WiFi, charging stations, cable tv and a few other amenities. Because of COVID, Ocean View implemented strict check-in guidelines to minimize the spread of germs and a few other protocols. All nice to hear. But we felt a lot of work went towards upgrading rooms and forgot about the kitchenette. Still clean, but the stove burners, were individually covered in aluminum foil and that wasn't a pretty sight. I almost don't mind staying in motel-y spots- but as long as it's styled nicely from head-to-toe, I'm in. Adriana the Inn keeper though makes sure Ocean View's grounds are entirely well-kept in this little gem- and she's so sweet! Plus the office is also modernized, crisp and coastal. Again...If they just would've kept a keen eye on the kitchenette that's all. This is the smallest room we've stayed in ever. And at almost $400 a night- for 4 nights (yep)....... this is the Hamptons after all. read more

We stayed here for July 4th weekend with my mother-in law and my two sons. We booked two rooms, and they were able to put both rooms together. When we checked inn they make the process very easy as they have you pre-register online after you make the reservation. So check was quick. There are no keys to rooms, each room has a pass key code. So no worries about loosing key cards. When we entered the rooms we were so surprised to see the rooms looked exactly like pics on their website. The rooms were beyond clean, bathrooms also very clean. Rooms had full length mirrors which was surprising as many of these places do not have full length mirrors. Also no carpet as many older places have carpet. You can see how well they maintain their rooms. We would recommend this for anyone looking for place to stay in the Hamptons. It was a wonderful stay. read more

My family stayed at the Ocean View Terrace recently and it was perfect for our needs. The room was small but perfectly appointed, and the air conditioning worked very well. It was all very comfortable. There was ample parking. The location was convenient. Due to the circumstances of our visit we didn't have time to make use of the entire place and the beach, but there is a lovely pool and numerous hammocks and the beach access is right across the road; the road can get busy, so exercise caution. The room was small but we really appreciated the ample hangers, the clothing steamer and the abundant towels. Everything was very clean too, and the beds were comfortable, and oh, yes, there were many pillows. Loved the ceiling fan and the windows that open and have screens. It was too hot for open windows, but on a cooler day, we wouldn't have enjoyed the fresh air. And it was very quiet. We had no in-person interaction with the staff because the rooms are locked with a code, and that worked perfectly. Also, we had requested early check-in, and they had said that wasn't possible, but it turned out that they had arranged it after all, and we were very grateful. If you wish to book with them DO NOT USE BOOKING.COM. They subcontract to Vacasa, which is an intrusive, data-mining agency that wants all kinds of information to "confirm" your visit. They actually tried to put me through an Experian-type credit check, AFTER they had taken my money, for "identity verification." Yeah, I don't think so. So I called the hotel and they were extremely understanding and helpful. Try to book directly with the property, or with another agency than Booking.Com and avoid VACASA like the plague. I am not the only person to complain about them, apparently, so go to school on me. read more

We stayed at this inn in June. The room was madden and clean. The view we had across the street was the Shinnecock Bay....beautiful. The staff was efficient and treated us with white glove service. Definitely will return again! read more

It was freezing and I asked for heat but they blew me off. It was 50 degrees and they said they turned off the heat last week. This guy burned his pizza at 3am so the fire alarm was going off forever and the fire department had to come. So much for getting away for a quite romantic night with my boyfriend read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here for our anniversary getaway. We got a room with a bathroom, jacuzzi, kitchen, fireplace, king-sized bed and a TV for about $300 (check-in 3pm 7/10, check-out 3pm 7/11). It was all cute and cozy and I love love LOVED the bed. The shower is small but eh who needs a massive shower? The jacuzzi was lovely! The staff (an older woman and a younger male who only started working there for a week or 2 so far) were very nice and polite. The kitchen is a decent size for 2, but the fan didn't work in there. So when I cooked I couldn't air out the kitchen. The stove and fridge seem cheap but they get the job done (the fridge even froze our wine! oops!). The A/C that was in there could have worked a lot better, in my opinion, but it did cool the room if you left it on for a good 2 hours or so. I don't boo this place, as I had really enjoyed my stay there. It was pleasant. But I wouldn't exactly want to spend more than 2-3 days here. read more

Made a reservation through vacasa for one room. After receiving the code for the room, we opened the door and the room was a mess. Someone had clearly stayed there and the room hadn't been cleaned; the bed was unmade, the trash bin was full, there were half drank water bottles on the counter, and the lights were on. We called vacasa, explained the situation, and asked if we could be put in another room. They said they had to ask the property manager and told us to wait 15 minutes for a response. We waited an hour and did not receive a response. We called back and they said the property manager wasn't responding and to call back again in 15 minutes if they didn't call us first. We called back 30 minutes later and still no response from the manager. We asked if we could get a refund because we couldn't wait all night for the property manager to respond and we were told the property manager had to OK the refund...every time we spoke to someone they said they'd call back in 15-30 minutes and never did. We finally received a refund after having to call about 5 times over 2 days. Luckily, we spoke with one great representative, John, who actually followed up and was able to complete the refund. Perfect location to visit ALL the Hamptons. First-timers to the area, we almost stayed on Shelter Island (would have been a mistake). If you want to tour the southern shore all the way out to Montauk, this is the place! Easy drive to Ponquogue beach, one of the public beaches on the Atlantic (think perfect waves). Price is GREAT for the area. This family-run jazzed-up motel is clean and the proprietors aim to please. We were so busy we never even got to use the perfect pool and private beach on the bay. On the good side: Nice enough view of the bay from across the street. Clean sheets and towels. No parking problem although it was across the lot. Down side: the sink was clogged. The toilet wax seal leaked toilet water on the floor. The mattress was very hard. No one on duty in the morning to talk to or check out. Had to leave the key inside the office door. I have been coming to Ocean View for at least 15 years. I have stayed in almost every room at least once as each has it's own characteristics. Some have kitchens, some have twin beds, etc. Every room is always clean and every year there are updates in decor or basic infrastructure. This past weekend, we had a new shower instead of a shower/bath mix. You could almost ballroom dance in it! We ordered in Chinese one night and Italian another as we were there for work. My best friend and I recently planned a trip to Long Island and originally planned to stay at the Hilton in Riverhead. When we realized we made the mistake of booking the wrong dates we were pleasantly surprised to find this place had an opening and was steeply discounted on priceline. Based on the good reviews on trip Advisor we booked it. Driving to the motel was easy as it is located on the main drag (27A) and has a well lit sign so it is hard to miss. The motel seemed to have minimal occupants but this was likely due to our end of the season travel dates. At check in the man at the desk was pleasant enough and was happy to offer us suggestions for what to see and do. When we unlocked the door to our room however we found the cleaning crew had not been through the unit with unmade beds and coffee cups out in the open. When we walked back to the office, the office manager was very apologetic and went above and beyond the call of duty and upgraded us to a two bedroom suite with a balcony overlooking the bay. While I wouldn't expect that they would do this with all their customers it was such a kind gesture and we found the suite to be perfect for what we needed it for! The only minimal complaint I could say would be that the bathroom for a suite was a little small and without a fan (easy enough to fix with the window open) and they didnt serve coffee. But for the money it was a steal and the location was excellent, we would definitely stay again. read more

I promise you you will be very sorry if you go here. The rooms are so small they cant even fit a coffee pot. There were moths, and other strange bugs. I have never written a review of a hotel before but felt the need for this one. I told the owner Penny that the bathroom light didnt work and she told me to flick the switch! Really? Have you ever heard of such a thing for the amount of money we paid for this closet of a room. The view they talk about is blocked by houses, one of which is the owners. I had to wait ten minutes to check in because she was playing video games on the office computer.The maid walked in as I was changing without knocking, Penny gave me the wrong room key... I could go on and on...it was crazy and ridiculously expensive for the little that you got unless you like dark rooms that you cant see the bugs in! Take my advice and go to "Bowens on the Bays" down the road. Bigger rooms, beautiful gardens and way nicer people. read more
