I'm giving it 3.5 stars because it has potential. It looks like a cruise terminal from the outside. It's basically a shopping mall that has lost many tenants. There are lots of spaces for rent, which is odd because it's not a new shopping center. I think the only thing that keeps it alive is the Royal Yacht Britannia Visitor Center, Club 3000 Bingo, and the NHS Lothian Vaccine Clinic. We saw many people getting their vaccinations on a Saturday morning. Oh wait, there's also a movie theater as well as a Source ultra-rapid EV charging hub that appear to be popular.
There are a few restaurants and a small food court area with a Ben & Jerry's on the next level. I only saw one restroom in the parent & child facility. I didn't see any others. This place definitely needs better restrooms. The one I visited had an abnormally large fly that scared the hell out of me. I think I saved it by letting him fly out of there. My advice is to use the restroom at the Visitor Center.
The good news is that there is an H&M that anchors it. We were also happy to see a Boots Drugstore. We spent a little time there since we arrived early for our entry into the Royal Yacht Britannia. I read a little more about OT. Apparently, it was originally built to be a cruise terminal. Somehow it ended up being a terminal to a permanent ship museum with plans to add another cruise terminal and an apartment building. It will be a kind of mixed-use space along the port. I think that's where the ongoing construction is between the Port of Leith Distillery and OT. Hopefully, it will all turn out well once everything is done. As of now, it's still a work in progress. read more
