Go to any other Ocean State. (Avoid William S Canning BLVD, Fall River). The manager there is unethical. Went to purchase an AC, but there weren't any prices posted. A fellow customer had this one in his cart with the price of $399 (we actually helped each other put them in each other's carts). When I got to the checkout it rang up $449. The cashier told the manager that was the wrong price. The fellow customer a few lanes over had the same issue. Rang up $449. HE got HIS AC for $399, but- because my box didn't have a sticker- I was told I could either pay $449, or return it and go to Lowes. The manager actually said that to me: "yea, sounds like a good idea. Go to Lowe's." I was shocked! Never experienced customer service where the guy in the next lane pays one price and I pay another. The employee gestured that I needed to call corporate. In the pics, you'll see the SKU on the price on the box the fellow customer had matches the SKU on my return receipt. INSANE! Any other Ocean State. We have like ten around here. That lady should not be in a managerial position. She was rude, dismissive, WRONG, and about 3 days past due her shower/laundry rotation. The staff are extremely rude. I was waiting in line to check out which is a shit show. I was next but instead the clerk called someone from another lane over to her, when I told her I was next, she said, yes but she is a senior. I told her, so am I and, I am next. I'm 62 and have never been treated so poorly at any OSJL as this one in fall river off of rte 81. Avoid this store at all costs unless you enjoys being dismissed and belittled by management. read more

I stopped here earlier today searching for a small umbrella. An associate told me it would be behind the women's clothes towards the back. I found 3 umbrellas, haphazardly thrown into the money belts, only one of which was small. I took the umbrella to the cash register to check out. The cashier asked that I wait while an associate found a price, because the SKU was missing. So I waited for about 5 minutes, and they REFUSED to sell me the umbrella because they couldn't find a price. I used to love Ocean State Job Lot, but now I have no desire to return. Ocean State Job Lot had tons of bargains to choose from. This particular store had a good selection of plants at really good prices. I have seen similar potted plants and flowers for double or triple the price at nurseries in the area. They all looked very healthy. Inside there was a good selection of summer and beach items as well. Nowadays you can also get on their website and order items online to be delivered to the store that is most convenient for you to pick up....most of the items would be furniture or large items, but there are also other departments that have their stuff on the website for online ordering....some items on the website are not sold in stores. read more

Cashier ( 60229 )was very rude and condescending. He made me feel very inadequate for not knowing where to return an item. I bought 4 shorts and he spoke to me in such a rude manner saying " YOU CAN TAKE THE HANGERS OFF" so aggressively!! He did not say "CAN YOU" or "could you"... ( I do not work for you sir, you have no right on telling me to do YOUR JOB, matter of fact no right to speak to ANYONE in such demeaning manner. So I respectfully said that's fine ill help you take the hangers off the shorts, I can do 2 and you can do the other two, he clearly did not want to do it, so I proceeded to take 2 out of 4 hangers of the shorts and with the last one he was waiting for me to do it as well. Almost hesitating grabbing it, look at the camera interaction store/ district manager! You will see how your worker operates! His demeanor was so condescending and inappropriate. I paid for my items and than proceeded to go to the service desk to process my return, the lady working there was so kind and you could just tell that she was a good person and great worker! Wish I knew her name. As she is processing the return I glance over at register 4. Where this incident happened and noticed how worker 60229 was treating the next customer so respectful and kind. Not sure why with me was different and seeing that made me feel worst. You CANNOT PICK AND CHOOSE how to treat your loyal customers. You know better, so do better. I stopped in at ocean state job lot to pick up a few things I needed at home. I picked up some pet treats for my dog, olives oil, and a few household supplies. Sometimes they have some great offers one organic plant protein power shake's but unfortunately they didn't have any in stock at this job lot. So it means onto the next job lot to see if they have it! read more

Diabetic heaven! They have all sorts of sugar free, no sugar added candies, chocolates and jellies all at discount prices. Half the stuff there would have been 3 times the price at a regular store! Did I mention sugar free that doesn't taste like sugar free? Most options aren't American so they don't have odd after tastes. read more

The Fall River OSJL is chock full o' cheap goodies. But not cheap in a bad way, cheap in a really good way. They have everything for my indoor gardening needs, basic cleaning supplies, toiletries, and more. My favorite part of the Fall River OSJL is the food section. I'm a self professed foodie so I'm always looking for new gluten free, organic, raw, vegan, etc. treats to try. They have a huge selection of Bob's Red Mill items as well as many De Cecco pasta products which I love. You can always find San Marzano canned tomatoes and an assortment of other gourmet food items. And they have a small section of Bristol Bakery items including sandwich breads, Portuguese bolos, and English muffins. They also have plenty of floor rugs, housewares and basic clothing items like socks and t-shirts. read more

This review is of the OSJL in Warren. I notice that Yelp is lumping all the OSJL's together, as if they had no differences. OSJL has lots of cheap stuff, though not everything is cheap. Since they carry "odd lot" food items, not all of them are good. You'll find lots of odd flavors (e.g., cranberry horseradish sauce), and food which just isn't well made. I once got canned clams that had sand in them. As for the nonfood items, some are good and some are not. I bought bed sheets that weren't well made. However, I've bought gloves and socks there that were inexpensive but good. I bought a flashlight that didn't work (happily, they have a good return policy). In their new space they have large rest rooms in the back, but you have to be escorted by an employee if you want to use them. The home office says that the rest rooms are open to customers, but the store employees claim they aren't. One employee treated me like a security risk when he found me in the rest room unescorted (the manager told me I could go). Another employee made a point of telling me that the rest rooms were not for customers, even after I told her what the home office said. Since I have diabetes and need to pee a lot, this whole rest room thing has become a sore point with me -- the store's customer service in this area is pretty dismal. Since writing this I've had another bad experience in which the clerk told me that the rest rooms were for "emergencies" only (even after I told him that his information was wrong, and explained why). In order to pee, I had to ask for the manager. It never ceases to amaze me how much gall these low-paid clerks have. Altogether, I'm happy that OSJL is there. There are many items that I only buy there because the price is low (such as canned beans and artificial sweeteners). And what the other reviewer said about spices is true: Why pay $6 for a small bottle of some spice when you can get it for less than a dollar at OSJL? read more

This place is dangerous. Everything is so cheap you'll probably walk out buying much more than you need. Definitely recommended for stocking up on their ginormous selection of spices for 88 cents (instead of $6 bucks at the grocery store!) read more

I love going in here and looking for deals. I normally end up buying a few things when I go in. It is worth the stop in you never know what your going to get. You need to really check out any food product you buy, I have gotten a lot of items that were no longer edibale. Most of their products can be stored in environments that are not sutable to their needs. read more

I love this place and have to be very careful not to walk out with more than I need. I buy my pistachio nuts here, they're at least $1-2 less than the grocery store. The only reason I don't give it five stars is that just like with any discount store you have to be really careful about what you buy as the quality can suffer on occasion. It IS however a good place to go to get camping gear (lanterns, tarps etc). read more
