Both Dr Slusher and Dunbar are great to work with, even though Slusher is my primary Chiropracter. I've been coming here for five (5) + years and the biggest problem if there's even been one would be the wait, which their virtually is none. The office is always busy and the tables are almost always full. SOMEBODY MUST BE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT!! I disregard the negative reviews because I know better. I am visiting Dana Point on a work trip and found this office through my medical insurance. I was in a lot of pain and they took me on short notice. Dr. Slusher knew I would not be an ongoing patient, but still treated me like family. I got an x-ray, water jet table massage, foam roller massage, and adjustment. He did a posture study and gave me some do-at-home exercise, gave me a broomstick to do other exercises with, and gave me an ice pack for the road. The office staff and Drs. Slusher and Dunbar are wonderful. I was visiting Dana Point from Connecticut and shortly after I arrived, I experienced a stiff neck (pinched nerve?) that progressed to an intolerable amount of pain, allowing no mobility to my neck. Soon the pain traveled down my back, and unfortunately I waited until my second week in California before I sought help. Dr Slusher was so kind and understanding, and fit me into his busy schedule, knowing I had only a week before I boarded an airplane back home. X-Rays were taken and he explained what needed to be done to make me feel better. He worked on my neck and back as vigorously as I could tolerate, and even had me come in later in the day again at no extra charge. Dr. Slusher had me feeling much better in such a short time before I flew home. I don't know how I could have tolerated sitting on an airplane for six hours without him! I booked an appointment with another Chiropractor in Connecticut this week, to continue treatment, and I can only hope he is as skilled and personable as I found Dr. Slusher to be. I have had adjustments on and off at various chiropractors since I was 15. It has nearly been 8 years since my last adjustment as the previous chiropractor at a different establishment was very rough and caused additional pain instead of correcting it. For the past many months I have been experiencing a wide range of sensations that made me feel that it might be nerve related. Dr. Dunabar is the first Chiropractor in a very long that made me feel totally comfortable with working on my neck. He was able to adjust everything with a lot of finesse and without it feeling like it was being forced. Also he is easy to work with and is easy going. At this point it is too early to know the results but I definitely feel like things are being adjusted in the right direction. I was in California from the east coast on a week long business trip. On day 2, my back went out worse than I've ever experienced. I could barely walk and the pain was unbearable. I did a search for nearby chiropractors and was able to get them on the phone before they closed for an appointment as soon as they opened the next morning. Dr. Slusher took great care of me and got me mobile for the rest of the day. He wanted to see me again after work, which was good since I was severely stiffened back up. He had me come in the next morning (which was his day off) just so I could continue to make progress and be in the best shape possible for my plane ride home the next day. I went back in that evening and saw Dr Dunbar, and he too took extra time with me to get me fixed up as much as possible. These guys didn't know me from anybody, but treated my like I was a patient of many years. I am so very grateful. My family and I have been to many Chiropractic providers in our lifetime, and this practice with Dr. Dunbar is by far the most excellent. He provides excellent hours for ease of scheduling, open till 7 p.m. most if not all nights, which is unheard of in this field. Just to think most Chiropractors are open for like 5 minutes a day was driving me crazy! Dr. Slusher is a magician! I screwed up my neck 2 days before a ski trip, and could barely tie my shoes, much less ski in a couple days. He worked hard to fit me in a soon as I called that day. He did his normal great stuff, and recommended I come back the next day. I already felt much better when I left, but was still pretty screwed up. I came back the next day, and he spent quite a bit of time with me, and again, I felt much, much better - but was still worried about skiing. I didn't have time to come back that night, and he was busy as well...but he told me that I really needed one final treatment if I could. So, I took his professional advice and came in shortly before closing, and he completed his miracle - and wouldn't charge me for the final visit because it was just a "re-check" for the same day. He even said that he'd come in before normal hours the next morning before we hit the road just in case I needed it. Amazing. You might expect this great service if you'd known your doctor for years, but it has only been a few months that I've been seeing Dr. Slusher after my last Chiropractor retired. Anyway, when I left that night, I felt great, but I always wonder about "the next day" after something like this - you know - in your late 40s how something as crazy as sleeping can take its toll on your body. ;-) The next morning I was probably at 98% - I could just barely feel something there, but was almost completely back to normal. Oh, and the skiing? June Mountain (by Mammoth) on a Friday, perfect snow, 45 degrees, and 28 runs that day because you'd ski on to every lift and sometimes not see ONE person on a run from top to bottom. I got two bad ankles, One from surfing and the other, I did a jump spin kick and snapped the left ankle.
