Plenty of tackle here too, rods, a really nice shop. Checking out was smooth, they take credit card (no fee, though maybe a $10 minimum). I highly recommend this shop!

This review has more to do with West Marine in general as opposed to this location (although I did…read morecall them only to be told the item I ordered online was out of stock in my size). So here it goes: I took advantage of a recent 25% off sale that applied to Aftco Barracuda Geo Cool long sleeve shirts and ordered both a blue and silver color. I was excited about catching a break with a great deal. When I placed the order on the site, it said that both items were in stock. I received an order confirmation email and then a few hours later it said that both items were backordered and gave me a month lead time to expect a ship date. I was less than thrilled about this but decided to wait it out because of the great price. Two days later, I received another email stating that the gray shirt had shipped and the blue shirt was being "fulfilled by vendor" with "no tracking available at this time." I wrote an email to customer service describing exactly what had happened complete with the applicable screenshots and asked for an explanation. I still have yet to receive a response. I ended up calling customer service the following day. I waited 5 minutes and then opted for a call back when a representative would be available to help as there were 51 people ahead of me. (I know we are all going through a rough time so I didn't mind waiting). I got a call back an hour later, and the Customer Service agent was very informative, friendly and patient. She explained that the blue shirt that was being "fulfilled by vendor" was shipping for another store that had the item in stock. She provided me with tracking info (which should have been updated on the website at this point) and told me that my online order would reflect the update in the next day or so. At this point, I thought that the problem was solved. I was a tad bummed out that the blue shirt would be five days later as I had a trip planned where I would be utilizing these shirts but figured that I'd at least have the one that was arriving the next day. When I received the package and eagerly opened it I was extremely disappointed to find that West Marine had shipped a 2XL instead of a M. I immediately called customer service and repeated the same process as before: 5 minutes of dead air wait time and then 40 minutes for a return call... Again the agent was very nice and respectful and advised that I wait until I received the blue shirt to make sure it was correct (even though he confirmed I ordered two Medium shirts) and then take it back for an exchange to a West Marine brick and mortar close to me. Unfortunately, I didn't have the luxury of waiting as I ordered the shirt specifically for a trip. Every WM in NJ was out of stock. Rather than go through the hassle of waiting again, I simply returned the shirt to the closest WM and am praying that the one coming on Saturday is the right size. This order process is way too convoluted and too much of a waste of time. Sadly, I will refrain from ordering from West Marine again.

I was very disappointed to learn that Dick's Sporting Goods no longer offers a military discount at…read morethe Brick, NJ location. As a veteran family, we always appreciated the gesture--not because it was a huge savings, but because it showed support and appreciation for those who have served our country. I was surprised to learn that military discounts were apparently offered at the discretion of individual store managers rather than as a company-wide policy. If that's the case, then shame on the Brick, NJ store for choosing to discontinue this benefit. Our veterans and active-duty service members sacrifice their time, miss important moments with their families, and put their lives on the line to protect the freedoms we all enjoy. A small discount is a simple way to acknowledge and thank them for their service. While every business has the right to set its own policies, I believe supporting military members and veterans should be a priority. It's disappointing to see that recognition taken away.

Went crabbing today in Bay Head and stopped here to buy a crab trap. They had a bunch of traps…read morestacked outside and I only bought one to see if it was worth it. The crabbing wasn't that great today but the box crab trap was a good one and I will definitely stop back my next trip to pick up another. Trap was good for either chicken or bunker. At $15 the price was right too........ While i didn't go shopping for anything else they seemed to have everything you would need for fishing or crabbing for sale inside. The woman at the register was friendly and polite. Maybe next time I could actually catch something more than a sunburn.

Our new favorite campsite!…read more My husband and I just came back from our first "real" camping trip. When hotels in Seaside Heights were too expensive, we decided to take our camper out to Cedar Creek. Although it's usually a four night minimum, Cedar Creek kindly accommodated us for two nights. Upon arriving, I realized we were way out of our comfort zone. A lot of these people are "seasonal" campers and camp here for months at a time. I was blown away with some of the setups these people had - one even had a bar! Our neighbors welcomed us when we pulled up to our spot and helped us unload. It was a very warm welcome. We did a quick drive around the campsite and saw a pool, a fire pit for s'mores, playgrounds, kayaks and canoes. It totally took me back to "The Parent Trap". I appreciated the 24-hour security. Everyone took their job seriously and made us feel safe. It truly was a fun experience and I'm looking forward to camping her for many years to come!

For my birthday, I decided to gather a few friends and head down to NJ for a fun day of canoeing…read moreand kayaking! I've done this before and I knew exactly what to expect. But what I'm more impressed with is that their service and friendliness was consistent to my last experience. Moreover, it's an oasis away from the city as the scenery is certainly peaceful, tranquil and fun. If you're plan on going, I suggest to pick the 11am slot! This will give you ample time to hang out at the creek before the return time which is at 5:30pm. The company will drive you to the site and will leave you upstream so when you're rowing down, you won't be not fighting against the current. You have the option to go on the 4 hour, 3 hour or 1 hour slot. Best of all, the creek is not that deep, though I was told that there are certain spots that can be 8-10 feet deep but most of the time, it seems like it's only 3-4 feet deep. This was great because it gave me the option to jump in the water and play with my friends since I didn't' know how to swim! If you're renting a canoe, it will cost around $60 which you can split with the other person. But if you like to kayak then the cost is about $45 per person. All in in, I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for something fun to do and still close enough to the city to head back home. The people here are super duper friendly and the creek is beyond clean, the air is fresh and the experience is absolutely priceless!!!! _________________________ They are also a campsite so if you're planning to stay over night, this is also another great way to add more fun to the experience!
