Great Open Water course with Dive Master Seth Tufvesson! Can very highly recommend this Dive Master due to his breadth of knowledge about diving and the ocean, communication skills and his energy, willingness and patience to teach not only practical and required diving skills, but also the conceptual understanding for why these skills are necessary. The assistant dive master,Ted Moulter, also was encouraging, and went out of his way to go over principles, assist in learning skills, help with equipment weight adjustments. I love this shop! I got my open water here in 2022, followed by advanced and rescue certs. Their staff is very helpful, friendly, and knowledgable about all things scuba. They also have one of the best selections of gear I have seen. Wet suits, BCs, regulators, lights, fins/masks, anything you can possibly think of needing for scuba...they will have it. They also sell air refill cards and have a full repair/servicing department in the back of the shop. Just an overall really lovely community of divers and I'm so thankful I found them :). read more

In the last 10 years, I have completed 2 discovery dives while on vacation. I didn't have a great experience as anxiety about all the gear kicked-in and I had difficulty equalizing my ears. However, I wanted to give scuba diving another chance for an upcoming trip. This time, I signed up for the open water certification program at OE (4 pool sessions and 2 ocean sessions). I could not have asked for a better experience! The instructors (Ed and Chris) and dive masters (Matt and Joe) were so patient, kind, and knowledgable. I caught the bug! I have since completed the advance open water and nitrox certifications with the same instructors and dive masters in Catalina :) Looking forward to taking another course and doing a live-aboard with OE. read more

I did the class with my 13 year old son, and they were beyond patient with him. I don't really write reviews, but I keep coming back!!! Awesome dive center and super friendly staff! You can shop and also rent your scuba gear - just everything you need. Sign up for a course, do your PADI e-learning, show up for orientation, and get your dive gear. The shop also offers 10% off for students and military. I came here not knowing anything about fitment. They asked for my height and weight, then gave me gear to try on in the dressing room. Even got fitted for my dive mask. They got me all squared away with my dive gear. Also, I got to exchange my rentals and try out a few different dive fins and size that best suited me comfortably. Had a blast doing my open water certification here with Guy, Pedro, and Jason and came back to do the advanced course with Matt and Katie. Thinking about doing the rescue diver course with them. I took open water this summer, mostly just as an opportunity to learn something new. Ocean Enterprises was generally a good choice and I would highly recommend them. The staff all seemed pretty knowledgeable and the store is well stocked - I called several times to check things and they always answered quickly. The instructors were all decent. Special thanks to Seth who did my ocean days for going above and beyond in every way. Really, just a few complaints to take off a star - the pools they use are pretty far away at high schools. - if you seem competent in the pool, you won't get enough attention. There were several instances where the instructor forgot about me for a skill or didn't notice when I attempted to get their attention for something. The classes are pretty big and they're busy with the people who aren't comfortable in the water. - during pool days no breaks are given for water or sunscreen (besides lunch). We finished very early, so it's not like there was a rush. Obviously, I could have asked for a break but without a watch it's hard to know that it's been 90 minutes and the sunscreen is long gone. Most of the class had lots of sunburn because of it. Seems like this is the instructors responsibility - the shop does push for buying your own gear even for basic open water course. If you're not sure, be sure to rent. Loottss if people will dive maybe a couple times and then never again - some of the rental gear was in pretty bad shape. The mouthpiece in my first kit was split, we had a bcd blowout, a tank that had a broken valve, and frequent freeflows during prep. - although they say there's no rush, the instructors still seemed in a hurry even in the ocean. At one point on the first day while descending the line, I paused to clear my ears and an instructor grabbed my foot and pulled me down the rest of the way. Thankfully no harm was fine but it was jarring. In the end, they'll get you in and out quickly for open water. While I'm sure it's safe (the instructors correctly handled a stingray injury as well as a mask problem) it certainly wasn't very personable. For me it didn't matter, and the people who it did matter for had constant attention, so perhaps it all works out. read more

Seth is very knowledgeable and accommodating and ensured that we covered the dive plans and discussed any potential hazards before the dives. Had to stop in here for a refresher course for Open Water because it had been just over 2 years since the last dive and we were headed to Hawaii for a Manta Ray dive. Everyone here was super helpful from the front desk to the rental counter. We got set up with a refresher just a a few days before leaving for Hawaii so that was perfect. With the fact it had been over 2 years I was a little nervous on how it would all go but it was such a smooth pace through the class. Todd was our Dive Master for the class and he made sure everyone felt completely comfortable by the time we were done for the night. I felt reassured with my skills and ready to dive in Hawaii. I just completed my Open Water Diver course at Ocean Enterprises and had the most amazing experience both in the class and at the shop. Mark was the instructor and Amera the divemaster, they both did an incredible job. Mark and Amera were both extremely thorough and super patient making sure every one of us mastered the skills. We all had a blast, especially during our last open water dive when went out to the canyon wall. During the class, I ended up buying a new mask and fins and trading out the mouth piece on the rental regulator. Every time I came into the shop, everyone was super helpful and took their time to make sure every thing perfect. We were visiting from Arizona to do some local cold water diving suites to open water certification levels. They helped set us up with some rental tanks and weights and set us up with one of their dive guides, Ray. We did two dives at La Jolla cove with Ray and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ocean Enterprises for their customer service and helpfulness. I have a medical issue and Ray helped me enjoy the dives by assisting in and out of the water. We got to practice our navigation skills in less than ideal visibility and still saw a huge variety of wildlife. Once we get to download some of our photos I'll try to update the review. My family and I took the PADI Open Water Certification, and our instructor was Mark and the dive master was Declan. I took a four day course with instructors Ray and Kym! PADI Open Water. It was an amazing experience. I have snorkel experience and was nervous about going to SCUBA but they were professionals. Clear on expectations and really knew what they were doing. I felt completely safe and well trained at the end of it all. Kym was seriously the bast at coaching you through difficult situations and Ray did an exceptional job with everything. Beyond incredible human being. There was one point I got nervous underwater and thought about quitting but Kym assured me once I got back to swimming underwater I could do it and I did. I don't think I could have made it through the course without her. I wish I could have afforded to tipped them more. Highly recommend. Their store is awesome too.
