They have now relocated to Robson street and Hornby (near Mac cosmetic store). Here's why I think it's totally worth visiting: 1. Not mass made: every piece is slightly stained differently as all is done by hand. They take leather goods to a whole different level. 2. If you're interested in good quality vs. being a brand whore: real calf, Python, crocodile for a fraction of over priced LV, etc. 3. Non pretentious atmosphere: if you're waiting to be ignored, or greeted by someone who has no clue about details, wrong place. (You can go to Holt Renfrew for that). There are only four people who work at this location and very well versed in all leather and upkeep. 4. On going customer service: my husbands sole go worn down more so than expected over a year. No issue! Carlos is sending them off for some TLC to their cobbler for a fix up. 5. Price: don't come here if you're looking for something under 200 dollars. This is unique wear, and you can feel the quality. Rest assured that you may be spending 400 dollars on a pair of shoes, but you're getting even more quality than you're paying for. 6. Come here and support this wonderful business and don't get scared by some of the very "loud" pieces at the window.

Railspur alley is one of those spots that is a bit quieter, and while still a little touristy seems to cater a bit more to local tourists and local shoppers. Hartman is a leather workshop that offers handcrafted leather belts, wallets, and bags. They have a nice selection and are priced really reasonably for handcrafted. Most of the items are made right there in the workshop. Picked up a really nice handmade belt that was a very high quality leather with nice workmanship for just $40! For that price in the department stores you would get a mass produced belt of much lower quality. Quite happy to support a local business as well! So venture out of the market and explore the little offerings around the island - you might be pleasantly surprised!

A wallet repair that went bad for $100+. I've never seen…read moresuch shoddy leather work. How can you manage not to sew a straight seam using a machine? The stitching on both outer sides (it folds) and the inside is crooked. Was the same grade of thin leather used to replace the torn pieces - no. Thicker leather was used so now fitting a credit card into the slot is difficult. And I can't fit more than two cards without a struggle. The wallet is now thick and bulky, so thick it doesn't fold flat when closed. Terrible work for a lot of money. I won't go back - ever!
