Besides the fact that my Dad become infected with SCABIES (which are highly contagious) while at The Royal Gardens of Camarillo, we saw dog poop on in the hallway several times, and it often smells like urine there. A staff-worker, unauthorized to push or wheel Residents, flipped Dad's Walker (Dad hit his head and she badly injured her arm) and they were both taken to the hospital; when we refused to pay for the ambulance Royal Gardens admitted that their staff worker should not have been wheeling a Resident. They are also severely short-staffed at Royal Gardens. I've often heard Residents calling out for someone to please come help them, and I've turned on my Dad's Call Light many times and found that it took 10-15 minutes for someone to come. Also, I've gone into Dad's room more than once to find no toilet paper and/or no towels, full wastebaskets, and food trays left from previous meals. Paying $4000 a month should get you better care. We've had other bad experiences there and I am willing to share them with you: Laura at 808-990-7848). PS-the food is good and they have several very kind, helpful employees, it's too bad they are under-staffed.

I would like to just take a moment to thank Mali, her son John, and all the staff at Mali's Place…read morefor such a loving job caring for my mother ! There's a reason Mali was in business for almost 30 years with one of the best reputations in the county. Thank you Mali for being such an angel !

Mom was here for quite awhile. Mali was constantly trying to put Mom "on hospice." Yep, Medicare…read moreand many insurance companies completely cover hospice costs. But, Mali charged us an extra $1,000.00/month. Mali insisted we use "her pharmacy." Then, medications were ordered a month a head of time. Then reordered every month, regardless of the quantity purchased (they buy 100 pills, taken once a day, reordered every 30 days.) The pharmacy demanded to have a credit card on file. I was paying for stuff Mom didn't even need. Mali would not allow any residents to walk or move about and kicked one resident out because he got himself an apple. Mom got scabies. Mali said,"It's not scabies." I had her doctor look at it. He said, "Its scabies." He prescribed medication. It wouldn't go away. I took Mom to 3 different dermatologist. They all said, "It's scabies." Finally, Mali convinced me that Mom would be better off being on hospice. So, ya, paid the extra grand and, somehow, Moms doctor got changed without me knowing. Mali began doping Mom. Sometimes she would give mom cough syrup and sleeping pills (at the same time, at 4pm on a Saturday,). Then, she was surprised Mom was drooling. Hospice nurse misdiagnosed the situation and called a stroke. I wasn't told for two days. When I questioned the medications, Mail screamed at me until I left in tears. After 2 years on hospice, Mom was discharged. Within 30 days, Mali sent Mom to the hospital three times. when Mom did pass, we did not have any hospice service. Mali, and her creepy son, are true evil. Just no.
