Stop charging exorbitant sums of money for mediocre care and serving poorly prepared meals to residents

Atria Senior Living Las Posas has been a wonderful 'next step' for me. I have lived here for over 18 months, and I couldn't be happier! The staff has become an extension of family. I feel important and so welcome regularly. Having the secure feeling of being safe and cared for is just what my family was looking for. My room feels like home, and it's wonderful to have a friendly housekeeper each week to help keep it tidy and organized. Having the little kitchenette is nice in my room; however, the dining experience here at Atria Las Posas is delightful -- wonderful food while sitting with new friends. Tracy B. read more

Very very nice community! Still looking for my dad. Lots of options, but Atria is in the top 3 choices. Only reason we haven't decided is because we don't know if we want him in Camarillo, Oceanside or the desert!! David is super helpful and all the residents seem very happy. Our family is so grateful to Atria Las Posas for making my brother's 4 year stay there so happy, comfortable and safe. The staff couldn't be nicer or more respectful to the residents and really take the time with each one in assisting to their individual needs. Atria Los Posas is the absolute best assisted living facility in SoCal! New residents quickly become part of a caring and loving family. My wife and I toured over a dozen facilities and kept coming back to Atria. What sets them apart from all the rest is the expert care. Every employee treats the residents as family. There are plenty of nice looking facilities but none can match the professional staff of Atria. My parents moved into Atria Los Posas on April 25th. Because of their strict COVID-19 protocols, we knew this would be a better place than having multiple caregivers come into my parents home. Now after more than a month my parents look and feel better than they have in years. The med-techs at Atria flawlessly manage my parents twenty plus medications. This is a tremendous relief for me and I'm sure for my parents as well. If you are looking for an assisted living facility I recommend you call David at 805 987-9872. 2020 Update: One thing that I did not mention in my last review: The cell phone, land line phone, and cable service are terrible here! All too frequent occurrences of internal phones being down, TV problems, not able to call out, etc. Problems seem never ending. These are not new problems. It has been this way for years and the staff knows it. They claim that the problem is not on their end and that, for instance, they can do nothing about the cell coverage. While some of this may be true, if systems are affecting the daily life of residents and caregivers then it is Atria's problem regardless of the source. Plus, some of this *is* directly Atria's fault: their wire room, their choice of vendors, etc. Figure it out! Change vendors! Install boosters! Do what it takes to reliably deliver life needs! Management stability also continues to be a concern. Still lots of turnover and lack of good quality long-term high and low level management. I used to think that turnover was cause for hope. Now it just more seems to point more to fundamental problems in the system. read more

Lowering to 3 stars. Food quality has gone down. Just got rent increases for 2019, and they went up 9% again. And care costs went up. Still the best place for my parent, but in another year we can't afford it. Who can handle 9% rent increases every year? Way to bankrupt the elderly. read more

Our family, like many, were faced with the daunting task of finding an Assisted Living facility after my father-in-law had a stroke (complicated by my mother-in-law being diagnosed with early / mid-stage cognitive disfunction. My in-laws had been in their home for +50 years, this made the ultimate decision even more difficult. We researched several facilities in Ventura county and we decided on Atria Las Posas in Camarillo. Why? Let's start with the staff. You could have the best building in the world but if the staff is not good...you know what I mean. Let's start with Rob (Resident Services Director). Caring, understanding, professional, knowledgeable, funny and excellent communicator. He was and is the a friend of residents, spokesperson for families, coordinator or services and more! Let me switch gears and mention the rest of the staff. Starting at the front desk...professional, friendly, caring and more. Food services...wow...Atria reminds me of places my family used to vacation at...full menu and excellent service! These people really care for residents and just like the food staff on cruise ships, they get to know the residents name and food likes / dislikes. They truly care. In-room staff. These are not mere pill-pushers and bed-makers...NO. These people are well trained and screened. They care for the residents! Here's a specific example...a replacement remote control for cable TV was required...while I ordered it from Spectrum, due to the current lock-down situation with COVID, I was unable to program the remote control for their TV. Yesterday evening, while helping my mother-in-law get ready for bed, Sabrina got on the phone with me as I walked her thru programming the remote (finding one of 15 possible codes). Thru it all, she was friendly and cared about my in-laws ability to watch TV. (YES, we contacted Atria and asked that she be recognized for this excellent service.) This is only one example. If you consider Atria, I would encourage you to look at he name tags for the employees...look carefully as it indicates how many years of service each has with the company. You'll easily find people with 5+ years...even 10 or more years. These people care and are rewarded for their efforts. I have not even touched on the facility or the excursions and other services that they provide...given that this review was penned in early April 2020, smash in the middle of the COVID pandemic, many of these additional activities are suspended until the health and safety of the residents can be guaranteed. In no way does this take away from my review of Atria as my in-laws have been happy residents for one year. Would I recommend this facility...? Absolutely YES! read more

My brother and I were having a very difficult time with my mom who was living alone. Her memory was rapidly deteriorating, she had been scammed many times, and she had fallen twice and needed stitches above her eye. She was very hesitant to leave her apartment that she loved. We asked her to visit Atria with us and from the first time I spoke with David I felt like it would be the right place for her. David spent hours with us touring the grounds and answering all of our questions. He fought for us to get a great price for our mom. She knew that day it was where she wanted to be and was excited about moving in. Since she has been there (2 months) she has loved every minute of it, even with the COVID restrictions. The staff goes above and beyond to spend time with the residents and make them feel welcome and cared for. Every staff member my brother and I interacted with was amazing, very caring and patient. The residents are all fantastic as well and have welcomed our mom with open arms. She has made many new friends and calls us all the time to tell us how happy she is there. The staff is very proactive in their activities and "brain-teaser" games they hand out for the residents to keep their minds sharp. In additional to our mom being cared for and having medical attention if needed, her memory has actually improved since being there! Atria has been such a blessing in all of our lives, we were definitely divinely guided there. David, along with the rest of the staff, are truly amazing and caring people. The residents are quick to tell you that "you will love it here" and they were absolutely right about that for our mom. I would 100% recommend Atria Las Posas to anyone who is struggling with the decision of where to have a parent or loved one live for assistance and care if that is needed. Thank you to everyone at Atria for making this tough transition a wonderful experience for us and our amazing mom and taking such good care of her, we are eternally grateful! read more

It's sad to think this facility is the best in the Camarillo area. Although my mother is reasonably content there, overall the place rates as average. THE GOOD: Staff makes a great effort to be helpful, upbeat and meet the needs of the residents. The overall facility looks good (if you don't look too closely at a lot of deferred maintenance) inside and out. Nursing support is good day-to-day. The residents come from a variety of interesting backgrounds and are generally friendly and helpful. THE NOT-SO-GOOD: Food quality has steadily deteriorated over the past several months. They seem to have less money and a revolving door of chefs. The "all day dining" they advertise, is restricted to meal hours or ordering from the front desk and paying extra for a tray delivery. Theoretically, you can go to the dining room and ask for something from the standard menu but I dare you to find anyone there to take your order . There are individuals in the facility who definitely seem to belong in a different level of care (e.g. an individual with clear mental issues (who, without warning or provocation threatened another resident); or, people who routinely pick up things which don't belong to them from both public and private spaces (e.g. the personalized shelves at each resident's entry door). It's commonly discussed that some have moved into the "regular" population because of costs increases in the "supervised" area of the facility. There is a lot of deferred maintenance which doesn't detract from the "looks" but does detract from safety and livability: e.g. shower heads which fall from the wall while the senior is using it; plumbing problems; noisy, in-room combination wall heater/air conditioners; bumpy transitions from different floor surfaces which catch at wheels on walkers; missing shelves in cupboards, etc. The daily events list changes too frequently at the last minute, disrupting plans made by seniors using the weekly published schedule. Apartment doors frequently fail to shut completely unless pulled forcefully and can be difficult to enter with a walker because they're heavy and don't latch open. And the initial new resident orientation can be hit or miss depending on staff availability and relies way too much on volunteer "ambassadors" (other residents). Over all, it's OK but, for the price, should be MUCH better. I think the saving grace for now, is the staff who work hard to "make do" in many cases - doing more with less and less. Eventually, even that will not be good enough. Better if you have someone nearby or visiting often enough to observe routines and help keep an eye on things like medication management; resident assessments (which can change your billing overnight and may not be accurate); and figure out little "fixes" that will make your apartment safer, more comfortable. read more

The staff at Atria Las Posas are thoughtful, caring, professional and extremely helpful. Transitioning to assisted living and/or memory care can be very challenging for a family, and the staff worked with us to make sure our loved one felt safe and loved, comforting all of us along the way. The warmth and care exuded by all the employees is reflected in the happiness you see on the faces of the residents.
