At that moment, Northern Lights Taxi, who had brought us from Lake Placid to Saranac Lake Airport, was unloading our bags. He saw our trouble and made a few calls to other airports. None would help, so Derrick of Northern Light Taxi Service said he would take us to our Hotel in Boston. We loaded our stuff, and he got his co-pilot, Geneva, and for the next 5 hours or so, drove us through the rain and traffic to the hotel. We talked and learned about the cities and areas we rode through that night. When we got home, Derrick called to check if we had indeed made it back. Vincent's kept track of our flights and coordinated our pickup at baggage claim at MS/SP Airport perfectly! The driver was pleasant and professional, making our 50 minute drive to our destination most enjoyable! At the end of our vacation, the return flight to the airport went seamlessly, we were picked up in plenty of time for our flights. I was at a pitstop crossroads. Should I take a break at Elm Creek Rest Area, which was the last…read morerest stop before I got to Eagan, or wait till I checked in to my hotel room in Eagan? I went with stretching here, which is in Maple Grove. I am glad that I did. There were lots of parking spots in front of the rest area. I pulled into a spot and walked into the building. The women's washroom was clean. I realized that I had been here eons ago. It looked and felt the same. There were a few maps for me to look at. I liked the scenic byways map better than the you-are-here one. What stands out about this rest stop are the vending machines. There were five of them. You could get everything from snacks, to hot and cold beverages. I liked the variety. The hot beverages one was cool. It had hot chocolate. I wasn't in the mood for a hot drink, but I'd like to try it someday and see if it's any good. This rest stop has picnic tables and lots of trees. It would be the perfect spot to have a brief picnic in the summertime. If you've got a pet with you, it would be the perfect place for your furry family member to go for a walk or stretch. I felt refreshed leaving this rest stop and heading into the homestretch to the hotel. It was nice revisiting it and taking a much needed break from driving. (84)
