It is pretty cheap ($4.50 for 6 hours per person)! It is very punctual as well. It has two lines: blue & green! We parked at Mall of America, found a kiosk very easy, bought a 6-hour pass for the Blue Line to Target Field, and waited for the train. Trains and markings were easy to see and, it was hard not to miss other Twins fans milling around in the area waiting like we were. Took the train about 35 minutes or so to make it in to town and drop us off at Target Field, but we didn't have to look for a place to park, and pay a high price for parking. So, we were both very happy. You couldn't beat the price for the 6-hour pass for seniors ($2.00) and we got a nice ride back to the Mall with our drop off about 100 yards from the car. How sweet is that? Now ... if only the Rays would have won!

I'm proud to announce that this year we finally booked a 6-hour train ride from Saint Paul to Sturtevant which is near Milwaukee, WI. We had a wedding to attend and rather than drive 5-hours, we decided to add another hour on the train and be hands free and comfortable. It was the best decision ever! Showing up to the depot 30 minutes before departure vs. 2-hours at an airport was the biggest flex. The depot is also very sanitary and has great security. There's even security in the women's bathroom so big kudos there. Depending on the time of your departure, shops and coffee might not be open but again, this is not a travel spot you need to be at hours in advance so that wasn't a knock for us. The Borealis Amtrak was the train we took and adored it. Was it super updated and high end? No. Did it have an upper and lower deck? Yes. Was the leg room out of this world with feet resters and chairs that reclined basically all the way down? Yes. Was there great overhead space for luggage and only 2 seats per aisle with no middle row ever? Yes. Was there a snack cafe? Yes. Did we see fall foliage out the windows? Yes. Did we play on electronics the entire ride? No. We looked out the window for 6-hours watching nature, seeing tons of deer, bodies of water, etc. If you're even considering a short trip to Rochester, etc. DO IT! This is the greatest adventure ever and it's affordable. Staff is beyond friendly and helpful especially for us as first timers. As I am pregnant, they even let us move into the family line and board first. We also saw a huge catering service towards the elderly population where they escort those who need extra time before the family line and encourage them to sit downstairs to avoid the stairs as there is no elevator. My husband and I look to book a longer trip in the near future in one of the sleeper trains going to see the mountains. I cannot vote for this more. Enjoy!! Toot toot!!!

Metro transit does a decent job trying to keep the areas clean, considering the amount of litter gathering in a day. The system is efficient on their timing and I appreciated the efforts to make the cars more secure and safe. The train rides were a nice experience until about 2020 when things started to change. That year walking back to a seat some young show-off tried to block my way as his friends laughed. All I could do was walk right past even letting our shoulders bump, yes we have to show no fear sometimes. Another time a passenger screamed at me for no apparent reason saying he didn't want me walking past him. I've seen cars with litter, people smoking and sleeping on folded down seats. Jump to 2022 and problems seem more cleared up with more transit police kicking people off and the system scrubbing urine stains off the floor. There used to be soft cloth seats which had to be replaced with cheap hard sitting plastic.
