This campground is 5 stars all around and we will definitely return…read more There are no sewer hook ups so you kind of have to use their restrooms/showers unless you drive to the dump station if you are staying for a week.. thus, the drop in a star (to be mentioned below) The GOOD: Pretty much everything! Lots of shade, big sites, signs everywhere to find your way, TONS of trails, dog friendly, friendly staff.. Bunker beach is walking distance, the activity/event center is gorgeous. There are stables at the regional park as well as the stunning golf course that we did not use. Just absolutely beautiful grounds. Bring a bike or take some long hikes. Maps are well marked and so much to see! Our California campgrounds are not this green and lush or have sites so spacious so we LOVED that! The BAD: Spiders (Daddy long legs) everywhere.. we sprayed eco friendly bug spray each day around the picnic table, tent and trailer and helped a bit.. but after 3 spiders on the window curtain next to my bed in he RV and a big old spider ON my bed.. I had a big more compassion for my boys in the tent with too many of them to count on top of the tent. Bathrooms - need to be cleaned as the sinks were pretty gross on most occasions. The water in the shower? I froze for all 3 showers and there is no way to control the hot/cold, no water pressure (which is kind of common at campgrounds) but not even a spray.. just a slow trickle/stream from the shower except in the family bathroom, a faint spray (also cold). Oddly, my boys showered once in the men's showers and said it was too hot, they had to get out. The showers were also unpleasant with spiders everywhere, moths flying at you from every direction. There were grasshoppers in abundance as well, but the moths were pretty disgusting. The GOOD FAR FAR outweigh the BAD and definitely recommend a stay here. It IS camping so just expect a lot of bugs around and you won't be disappointed!

Fun place to walk the dogs and to try a new park. Plentiful parking, a nice building to learn more…read moreabout the area. Easy trails and fun to see the water pouring over the dam. There were some spots that fisher people had left miles of line and hooks - not great for walking dogs. I picked those up and put them in the line and hook receptacle which was an easy walk from all the fishing leftovers I picked up. Please do better if you're fishing than doing the cut and run. There are parks on both sides of the river if you're up for an adventure. Not too much foot traffic when I was there, but lots of bikes, most with bells to alert me they were coming which is appreciated.

And speaking of fishing , this place "USE" to be phenomenal, now it's all fish out , tons of snags, with all those budget and constructions , there's very little to poor fishing area , the docks are old , too bad they never use some of that money to build a stone pier that extend from one side to the other below the dam. Worst now is that the STOP the road from reaching the other fishing dock so it's a very long walk from both side of the parking lot. So much of the land scapes are looking more like over grown weeds then a work of art . I do have to give them credits for supporting the troops.

He didn't seem to care, So we needed to get to Boston that night for a flight out early the next morning. At that moment, Northern Lights Taxi, who had brought us from Lake Placid to Saranac Lake Airport, was unloading our bags. He saw our trouble and made a few calls to other airports. None would help, so Derrick of Northern Light Taxi Service said he would take us to our Hotel in Boston. We loaded our stuff, and he got his co-pilot, Geneva, and for the next 5 hours or so, drove us through the rain and traffic to the hotel. We talked and learned about the cities and areas we rode through that night. When we got home, Derrick called to check if we had indeed made it back. In closing, if you are in need of a taxi service that you can trust to get you from point A to point B, then our recommendation is Northern Lights Taxi Serves.
