Ocado is an online supermarket and is probably one of my favourite grocery retailers mainly down to the customer service and information, as well as the product range. I've tried numerous online delivery services now from Britain's major supermarkets: Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Asda and Ocado with Ocado being amongst the best and Sainsbury's being amongst the worst, one of my favourite parts of the Ocado service is how they keep the customer informed, you can change your order until hours before delivery and then you can download a receipt and see what items are coming even before your order comes, for example you can see if any substitutions have been made in advance of your delivery. The product range at Ocado is also very good and includes items from brands such as PieMinister, Watmuff and Beckett and Wilkin and Sons, the gluten-free range especially impresses me with multiple products I cannot find elsewhere. Ocado also sell Waitrose own brand products which is pretty cool, including the likes of a cottage pie and stonebaked pizza, which are both gluten-free. Ocado prices are a little high in some areas, mainly on items which I've found hard to source down including the ones mentioned, but the prices remain competitive in terms of the basic essentials, with a standard own-brand 4 pint of milk costing either £1.09 or £1.10 as of July 2018. On past experiences, Ocado deliveries always tend to be either early on time with the drivers polite, they even offer a scheme to return your old bags to get the "bag tax" back, which is 5p per bag in the UK. Ocado also make it easy to apply a refund, which is something I've found hard which other brands such as Sainsbury's, Ocado have an online selection tool where you can ask for a refund on certain items and state why with no need to wait on hold and/or mess about by contacting customer services. Ocado could be improved however, such as by working to keep pricing competitive on some areas where it is a little pricy and by constantly working to make sure all items are stocked, for the last few orders now I've had one or more items being out of stock for my delivery time, one was even out of stock for over a week ahead of when I wanted my delivery which is a shame but the product range, customer service and keeping the customer informed throughout the order process, makes Ocado a brilliant grocery tool to warrant a four-star rating. read more

Shocking!!!! I am a new customer and I put an order in. I missed the delivery and got an email at the exact time the driver was at my door saying: As we were unable to deliver your order, this has now been cancelled, and as per our Terms and Conditions you will be charged for an amount equal to the price of perishable items contained in your order. Ocado said they are throwing out carrots, apples, potatoes and other hardy vegetables and charging me for them because I missed the order. This is the most disturbing practice I've ever heard. We did not order meat, there is no possible way these products perished in the minute after I missed the delivery. It is not only poor customer service it is a shockingly wasteful process. This behaviour cannot and should not be supported. This type of practice is beyond lazy. I will ensure others know how wasteful and downright nasty this company is. read more

Light years ahead of Sainsbury's! They bring the bags into the kitchen, offer 5 p for every bag returned and are very friendly. But most of all the food itself was so much fresher! The "use by" dates were more than double what we always had from Sainsbury's. And there were NO substitutions. Each bag is colour coded making it easier to sort. They call regularly to be sure to let us know when they are arriving. The shopping website has tons more items than Sainsbury's. Sainsbury's did not even bother to call us when they were delayed for over two hours the last time we ordered. We had to call them and they said their driver fell ill and so our delivery would not arrive and we had to rebook. We cancelled and switched to Ocado and are SO happy we did! read more

horrendous. For the past 6 deliveries they have been late and more than half the time they have not called beforehand, instead waiting as much as 45 minutes after the delivery deadline. Last night they forgot to delivery a few items (missed loading a tote on the truck) and were supposed to deliver tonight 8:30-9:30. They just called at 9:26pm and said they were running a half hour late. BS read more
A boat-load of stars for saving my back the aches and pains of lugging large, cumbersome, and/or heavy items to my flat from far, far away. However, their produce is sometimes not the best in my experience. They also tend to pick milk and other highly perishable items with early expiration dates (yes, I'm one of those people, who rummages to the back of the dairy case for the later-dated items). And while it's really nifty that you can pick your delivery slot to within one hour during the day, I've had several experiences where the delivery guys have come anywhere between 45 minutes (on one occasion, nearly 3 hours) early or late. That's not so convenient sometimes. For that reason I tend to use Ocado only when I have a large order for entertaining purpose, and then maybe once a month to every six weeks for pantry staples and toiletries. read more
Ocado grocery home delivery is a pretty sweet service. Groceries, sometimes even same-day delivered to your doorstep, even if you live in a 3rd floor walk-up. It's Waitrose-owned, but selection is usually better than the Waitrose stores. When there was an item I wanted that they didn't carry, I put in a request and they started carrying it. The veg they bring is always in really nice condition, much better than I'd get at my local Tesco. The one time I had a problem when I delivery guy didn't come on time, they sent me a free bottle of wine. I was delighted. Their customer service has been surprisingly good. So the downsides: it's expensive. More than you'd probably want to spend on groceries. They Tesco price-match some items, but what that basically means is that anything that isn't marked as being price-matched is more expensive than you'd find at your local shop. When it's an item your local Tesco wouldn't carry, it seems worth it, but it's harder to justify on generic brands/items that you can find anywhere. They also make you sign up for that Mastercard protection program to place an order which is infuriating. Also, my first few orders I was given a coupon for a free bottle of wine after I ordered. That seems to have gone away and now they are giving me free ham. Bummer. Also, my average delivery charge has gone up in the last few months and I usually can only find a £5.99 slot open. Think Ocado is tightening the proverbial belt and that can't be good for the likes of me. read more
I love using Ocado. Although the prices can be a tad more than the other major supermarkets they price match labelled products against Tesco. If an item is unavailable, they let you know on checking out the order, so there's rarely any surprises on delivery. They have one hour delivery slots and some times are offered with free delivery. The delivery staff are always helpful and offer to bring groceries in to the kitchen, if needed. They also have an iPhone app available so it's easy to shop on the go. read more
By the way they now deliver on Sunday but with NO SUNDAY TIMES! Beware, don't especially plan to get grocery thinking you'd get your free sunday paper as well! You still get the free Times Mondays to Saturdays though. read more

Ocado is a delivery company in partnership with waitrose. In their automated warehouse, groceries are picked and packed according to your online order. They are a big employer and offer staff a 15% discount, plus access to a staff shop with up to 50% off goods. There is a subsidized canteen too. Obviously food is not cheap as its waitrose prices. Delivery prices are based on a £75 shop and you will be charged more if you spend less. At Christmas time, they charge £10 on a £90 shop for delivery and you cannot get a delivery if you spend less. I think this is disgusting. Head office is in Bishops Sq. read more

I can't stop praising Ocado, it really has changed how I shop and given me a few more precious hours at a weekend. I have actually found myself saving money because it totals it all up as you shop and the picture shopping trolley means that you can really think about what you really need and plan your meals for the week ahead. If you want to make it better value for money we paid a one off yearly delivery fee of £99 and now our minimum shop only needs to be £40. So long as you spend this amount each time you are not limited to only one delivery per week. Deliveries are very reliable and with very friendly drivers who seem happy to help you carry the stuff into your kitchen. They tell you if there's a substitute should there be any problems with items and you don't have to accept it there and then. If there are any problems with the quality of the produce you can email them within 24hrs of receiving your shopping and they refund you very quickly. If you're worried about their green credentials you hand your carrier bags back to the driver on each delivery and they will be reused and when booking delivery slots they can even tell you when a van will be in your area already. I really wanted to be sure that this was good value for my money, baring in mind that as good as Waitrose produce is it can be expensive, so I checked a weekly shop on mysupermarket.co.uk and it came out cheaper than Tesco and Sainsburys, the only one it didn't beat was Asda but there's not one close by and they don't deliver in my area. AND we get a free copy of The Times with our shop so I don't even have to wander round to the shops for the Saturday paper! Now, if only it could make breakfast as well read more

Ocado Avoid Placed an order with a Groupon discount voucher. Picked a delivery date. Day before delivery order gets cancelled. Delivery is Cancelled last minute 4 TIMES. Start complaining vehemently on twitter #Ocado and email to CEO. Customer Service manager finally calls admits delivery will be cancelled yet again so now 5 times. Agrees to goods for free (so relatively happy) Day before delivery manager phones to only offer 50Pct. And lies that previously he denied offering the goods for free. Told him to give shove the goods where the sun don't shine. Email again to CEO. Start twitter complaining. Ocado now threatening to block me on their twitter feed. read more

UNRELIABLE AND UNHELPFUL DO NOT RELY ON THIS COMPANY TO DELIVER YOUR FOOD ON TIME! Or even at all! What you are saving in money (which isn't much) you loose in customer service and reliability!!! I never write reviews online but I really feel people should know this company relies highly on computer systems which the customer service staff are unable to adjust or access. So if their is an error with your order online you will not receive your food at your delivered time. It is a highly unreliable system. I made an order on Thursday for Saturday 6am and the order was cancelled at 11pm on Saturday night. I called the call Center on Saturday night. They were completely unable to help, and reported a manager could call me at 10am the next day (4 HOURS AFTER MY ORDER WAS MEANT TO BE DELIVERED) as he was too busy to speak to me at the time. They could not do anything on the phone to rectify the problem as they report they work entirely with computer systems which they can not access or alter. I was left having to do a huge grocery shop at 8am prior to having a large family gathering because of this companies incompetence. read more

After an unsuccessful delivery the following happened: Have spoken to a rude customer services person that I would like to have the delivery cancelled, but he threatened me with unreasonable delivery charges. Therefore I would have to agree with rescheduling my delivery, but now the products are unwanted as I have had an horrible experience using Ocado and would never use or recommend it again. I will take the delivery to avoid abusive charges for a service that was not provided and was extremely disapointing. I will do my best to spread my final experience with Ocado in order to prevent other customers from suffering such ruthless treatment. At the end the order was cancelled and money stollen from my account. read more
I did a selection of tests on online shopping and guess what Ocado stopped me in my tracks and I stayed with them. The reason being - they've considered that the little things matter to the experience. I must say first - I ordered from London 1. Whenever they don't have something in stock - they tell you online rather than bringing something random that they've got in stock 2. They tell you who the driver is... and even what kind of van - this level of detail makes me calm - as if it is a personal experience. 3. The receipt is dividied up into storage (freezer, fridge, cupboard) and again into expiry date - so it's easy to scan... and for dyslexics like me - a significantly easier experience. 4. Every single person who has arrived at my door with Ocado has been positive, polite and in a good mood - and it felt sincere ... there training must be amazing! 5. The price isn't siginificanly different from any of the other options - unless you plan on splitting your shop up to different supermarkets/ 6. They take away the plastic bags 7. The plastic bags are colour coded. 8. they bring the shopping inside (if you prefer) and again - don't make you feel annoyed by it - makes a difference for me... Like I said its the little things the matter - the online experience and the drop off experience don't even compare to Asda and Sainsburys. FODMAP note: The FODMAP friendly stock was good, last time I ordered - could use a few extra things - that said - massive LACTOFREE and GLUTEN FREE selection in the London delivery area. read more

I ordered some items on Ocado Monday to be delivered Tuesday night. However I got a text Tuesday evening saying some items I ordered is not available. I can understand if a static shop runs out of goods but this is an online service. I am surprised they do not keep track of their inventory. I wrote an email to their customer service and received a bog standard reply something along the lines we will make sure in the future this will not happen again. This is very dissapointing as we had guests over that evening with a huge lot of drinks missing. Ocado could have easily substituted the items. Looks like I will not be shopping with Ocado! read more

I adore Ocado home delivery. It is slightly more expensive than ASDA and Tesco, but unlike ASDA they have always had what was advertised. I've used all three home delivery services and Ocado is definitely the best. read more

24/07/2014 Stephanie Jones Ocado Employee Ocado Customer Service (sic.) The contents of this letter are important. A very serious breach of business conduct was enacted by one of the drivers employed by Ocado, and it is very clear they need to be terminated from their position immediately. Do not ignore this letter as we intend to fully and rigorously pursue this matter to its outcome. Unfortunately, instead of making amends, you have aggressively aggravated the situation by terminating my Smart Pass and fraudulently making claims that I myself have done this. You were then extremely uncooperative, biased and dishonest over the phone and informed me my account had been "suspended" with no attempt of inquiring my version of events. Because of this sustained aggravation and wilful grievance over a matter that is already seriously injurious to us and in need of remedy, we have no choice but to obtain legal advice on remedying this matter. You have also firmly declined a private resolution, or to even investigate, so at your request, we are forced to resolve this publicly. The driver employee who was arranged to deliver is Daniel. He has light coloured, short cropped hair, is medium build, and extensive tattooing on arms and legs. Daniel appeared drunk or drug affected when he finally showed up, was driving, steering, and judging distance on the road with great difficulty, ran over the curb, and had noticeable difficulty with motor functionality. Daniel's speech was affected to the degree there was a long delay before answering questions, his coordination was affected, he had difficulty walking with and releasing shopping bags, he had a glazed look to his eyes that he eventually tried to conceal by putting dark glasses on, and he was slurring and stuttering words to a minor degree. We have come to the obvious conclusion he had either been drink-driving, or had taken a recreational drug, took lengths to conceal this by attempting to act as normal as his state allowed him to, and was coming off the effects. The scheduled time for the shopping delivery was between 18.00 - 19.00. Daniel first arrived a full hour early, at 17.04. He was witnessed by neighbours as parking the van at this point, and proceeded ringing the doorbell intermittently for about 45 minutes. He later denied this, saying he only got there at 17.30. At the same time, our phone registered 3 missed calls from him while we were out. When we returned the call at 18.01 he sounded incoherent, and incorrectly stated he had just arrived. We informed him we were returning home in 10 minutes and to wait for us to arrive. He agreed, but drove off. We are unaware if anything illicit was taken at this point, however, when we arrived back and found him gone we proceeded to ring his mobile 3 times, all of which went unanswered. He eventually rang back and, without giving a reason, said he would be back within the hour. We think it is a justifiable explanation to assume Daniel was sufficiently "off his face" at this point. Daniel was asked why he was first early, and then late. He appeared at a loss and could not answer at this point, instead eventually saying, "What? I'm here.... What? I'm here now" at intervals. He continued this cycle, appeared very guilty, and until I asked him to calm down, agressive initially. The shopping he dumped with a thud near the door, again raising suspicions he was having difficulty judging distance, and suddenly he began taking away our shopping. I questioned him as to what he was doing, at which point he again dropped the shopping heavily on the pavement, and he began walking back to the Ocado van. I asked him what he was doing in his van as this is very unusual behaviour from a delivery employee but he refused to answer, locked himself inside, and rang the police. This all seemed extremely strange and quite disturbing behaviour on Daniel's behalf, and we are convinced his judgement may have been affected by the increasingly obvious signs of an idividual having taken illicit substances. We are still unaware what these substances may have been, how much may have been taken, and how close to recovering Daniel may have been. We are at this point also speculating as to whether Daniel genuinely could not calculate 24 hour time correctly, or if he was intoxicated or drugged to the point he was incapable of knowing where he was, either scenario does not speak highly of his intelligence or employment capacity. It was only when the police arrived that he suddenly "remembered" that he had to make no less than three (3) deliveries within the same area at the exact same time, two of which happened to be on the same street as ours, meaning he had to "run off and run back again". Sadly, this is at odds with him being observed waiting for 45 minutes in front of our place with nowhere to go. He also said at this point he arrived at 17.30 despite being seen at 17.04. He also made a false claim to police that my partner touched him, read more

I am highly disappointed with the turn of events that has occurred with my first ocado experience. Upon hearing very good things about this service from my housemates, I signed up for an account and placed my first order with ocado. Shortly after, I received a message stating that my order was canceled due to verification problems with my debit card. I then phoned customer service, knowing there was absolutely nothing wrong with my debit card, to ask what actually had happened. I then was told that someone from the same address had an outstanding bill, and needed to pay in order for my account to reactivate so I could place my order. I then spoke with my housemate, who paid his bill with ocado. After waiting for a few hours, I tried to log into my account again, and it remained inactive. I then phoned customer service, and was told. after waiting for an hour on hold, that the payment was shown to have been placed, but it needed to be cleared in order for my account to reactivate. I then waited all day today and recently tried to log in once again (even though I am getting quite tired of trying), and my account still remains inactive! I have NOTHING to do with my housemate or his unpaid bill. My debit card is perfectly fine, and the fact that I would even be paying for the order IN ADVANCE before even receiving it should be an indication that I have no connection with my housemate having an outstanding owed amount. Ocado refused me service for NO APPARENT REASON! They have lost a potential customer in myself, and I will make sure that any other people that I know of who have an interest in ocado will choose otherwise as well. There are other grocery delivery companies in London, and I will have no problem trying one of those! I am exhausted from fighting to constantly be their PAYING customer!! They are rude and accusatory! Refused me service because my housemate didn't pay his bill. They made my account inactive, and accused me of lying about who I really was. I am unable to lift my own groceries due to a recent operation, and this service would have been very useful. However, I will now look elsewhere because I refuse to give business to a company that treats their potential customers this way! read more

i dont live 0 because i can Last week I was parked up and an Ocado van scraped the entire side of my car and also slightly dented the body above the rear wheel arch. Ocado's insurance said I can either get it repaired or get the cash value of the repair paid to me. If the garage considers the car a write off would I get the full cash value of the car paid to me? dont want to take responsivity and need to get my insurance to sort it don't buy from Ocado stay away from the, make sure you check google reviews about this company Ocado before you buy form them read more

I used to be a very happy customer of Ocado but then without notice they cancelled all my outstanding orders because of card 'verification' issues.
