Fantastic ethnic cooking section chock full of sauces, ingredients, grains, rices, beans and any element you probably need, spices, decent bakery with breads, rolls, pitas, etc. Eggs and dairy, beer, wine, a lot of coconut water, and a fresh produce section (outside) which is standard, but nice to have. Things you won't find: fresh meats or fish. Par for the course! The family that runs it is very friendly as well (always so polite!) and I always leave feeling quite good about supporting a local food shop that is not only convenient, but tucked away from the madness of the Old Street roundabout. The manager may ask you to leave big bags at the front of the store, due to the ongoing problem they have with shop lifting!

Tonight i went along to my local Sainsburys here in Walthamstow high Rd at around 7.55pm in order to buy porrige for my breakfast, Afew minutes after 8pm as i was going towards the checkout i heard someone shouting, as i turned around i was confronted by a security guard who appeared quite agitated shouting at me that the tills were now closed, and nrequesting me to leave my purchase and to leave the store, i said i had just a box of Porrige, but he informed me that i had ignored the announcment and thereforte he insiusted that i leave immedicately without my purchase, i pointed out to him that a blond lady was still on her till and also that there were still a number of people in the store,i then proceeded to the checkout and paid for my purchase, as i was at the checkout two other people came behind me, on leaving the store i pointed outy to the security guard that his behaviour was totaly unacceptable,and futhermore i would be making a complaint to the store manager,were i in the process of stealing this porrige i could understand his reaction, but i was on my way to pay for it..there is a certain irony in this little unhappy tale, you see furder up in the shopping centre there is an excellent Asda which is where i would normally have gone for my shopping, but alas because as i indicated earlier because of the fact that i was rather late to go there i didnt have any choice but to visit sainsburys ,on what i intend to be my final final visit . thanks for your time...James Sloan.

Wow is it wrong to love a Tesco? It probably is, but I live in an area that has teeny tiny…read moresupermarkets and this place seems so large for a London store. I weirdly found this Tesco a really entertaining way to kill a 40 minutes when stuck in Seven Sisters one evening. What I found brillo: 1. They have a nice selection of home wear and electronics - woo hoo when did Kenwood food processors get so cheap? 2. They stock lots of ugly clothes from F&F and you can waste at least 10 minutes looking through the sale items and agonising whether to buy weird furry jumpers. 3. Best of all is the super dooper giant world food section. It's a cornucopia of global produce, flowing with exotic foods from around the world. Often food from this section are strangely cheaper than buying the comparable product from a different area in store. For example coconut milk is way cheaper here than a few aisles down. You can get your Caribbean, your Indian, your Turkish, your Kosher or Polish on to name just a few of the many cuisines that they stock. We very much enjoyed the Polish chocolate snack section. I can heartily recommend the Alibi bar - an awesome coconut, wafer and caramel chocolate medley. I can only presume it is named Alibi because it is so delicious you might not be able to resist stealing it. Therefore needing an alibi. But I did pay for it honest, for an import it wasn't even that much £. In true Tesco tradition, the place does seem a bit ugly and depressive, and the staff weren't very friendly. All the served checkouts were closed so they push you towards the evil self service checkouts of doom - but despite all that, the amazing stock makes up for it and I wouldn't mind if they had one of these in my area (well if it didn't kill all the personality out of my local area that is).

Lovely and spacious and much more choices available than other branches I have been too (Camden Town, Old Kent Road), and lots more items on offer and available. I was able to find items that are not stocked in their other branches, i.e. dessicated coconut, sweet and crunchy red peppers, chorizo, Italian pastries, almond biscuits etc. Every week they have special household items on offer, like rugs, shoes, lighting, shelves, garden tools, kitchenware, camping products, vacuum cleaners, and only available that week while stocks last and only available in the larger branches. If you are not into branded goods, you can halve the price of your weekly shop.

So, anyway, I figured that I would make my own. And this is where Whole Foods came into things. Sushi went surprisingly well. But my bank is missing £16. And that's not including any fish or vegetables. This place is pricey. But its good for you. The food is fresh, there is a big variety of things, they have a great deli section for you to take out hand made, fresh cakes, salads, etc. So I guess that you are paying for the quality ingredients....and good for you stuff. Just don't come the day before you get paid, coz this place is no bargain basement. It is worth coming on a Saturday, as there are loads of free samples dotted around the place, and if you eat enough then you will stop being hungry and buy less, so you will be able to afford your rent. A couple of lumps of black coated slimy cheese and about 2 peas in a huge slick of brown sauce It's nice this branch seems to really push the boat out in terms of what they get from abroad, but it's certainly a gamble! I like that though. It's nice to experiment! There's loads of checkouts, so not usually a problem there. Great for bargains and surprises!
