As you walk in, the employees will tell you about their sustainable, handmade local art, including home goods items and jewelry, herbal remedies -- all in small batches -- nothing mass produced. During my visit, one of the owners was in the back creating a design of her own, but unfortunately for me. I didn't go to the back to see what it was. Cactus Blossom is part retail shop and, I think, part work shop for locals who need a place to create and enjoy the camaraderie of others who share their artistic life. This is such a great store for finding something unique.

Puzzles, games, toys (even educational ones) for kids and families and windsocks, windchimes and wind spinners for your garden. Although all the things they have in stock are good for gifts (t-shirts, candles, etc.) or for fun, it's the kites that are truly noteworthy. Some are traditional but most are elaborate and some are gigantic. There are so many colors, design, and shapes it might be difficult to pick just one. They have kites hanging all over the store -- look up and you'll find some hanging from the ceiling, and then few those on the wall. It's hard to know where to look. I didn't ask, but some of those kites appear too large to manageable by one person and by one person in a strong wind, but maybe that's the point. This is such a great store to explore that you might have a tough time getting your kids to leave. Last thing to note: although Livingston Kite Company does take credit cards. they tack on a fee for using one.

You could sort of think of one of those nature stores in a mall mashed up with Santa's toy shop. Although it's not Christmas toys, it's just here's a lot of handmade stuff as well. I forget what I bought there but I did buy something.... Oh yes they had even the little license plates with names on it and I got one for my grown daughter to put on her bike... That said Montana since she is a new resident. I couldn't tell if the gal behind the counter was simply a clerk, the manager, or the owner. She didn't hover, she didn't care how long I looked or what I looked at, but she was very helpful and made it clear that she was there to assist. I heard her take phone calls helping people figure out if she had what they might be looking for. And I would say there is a toy for every budget so definitely a place to go if you're looking for something unique as a souvenir to take back home as a gift.

The shop is located on a strip mall with ample parking, but there's not a large sign to really identify it. I drove past it, but it's located right next to a military recruitment center. When you step inside the shop is ver narrow and has a very casual streetwear aesthetic. I think all items were for boys or individuals who would appreciate the uni-sex apparel. There are some shoes in the back of the room. I didn't get anything here, but I think the shop does have some good merchandise. I would say the items range in $$-$$$ price range.
