As you walk in, the employees will tell you about their sustainable, handmade local art, including home goods items and jewelry, herbal remedies -- all in small batches -- nothing mass produced. During my visit, one of the owners was in the back creating a design of her own, but unfortunately for me. I didn't go to the back to see what it was. Cactus Blossom is part retail shop and, I think, part work shop for locals who need a place to create and enjoy the camaraderie of others who share their artistic life. This is such a great store for finding something unique.

The owner has done a FANTASTIC job at bringing in styles that are wearable instead of just novelty western pieces, which is what is most often found in these types of towns. While she does throw her own little bit of western flair in there, the store is very modern. There are great yoga pieces, work appropriate pieces, and a great spread of other fashionable items. This is sure to be one of the most popular shopping spots in Big Sky.

I found a unique reversible sweater, a space-dyed stretchy tank that has ruching on the sides to make it cropped or longer, a beautiful pair of pants from Liverpool brand, perfect for work (in fact, they carry some brands also sold at Nordstrom and other trusted retailers), and a super-soft long cardigan that also came in a few other styles/lengths. The salesperson said they had just gotten it in stock today and had already sold four of the pieces. (I happened to have accidentally pulled off one of my bracelets while in the fitting room and came back to ask if anyone had turned it in...and yes! Someone found it and they had it waiting for me at the front. Yay!) The service was beyond friendly and helpful. I heard the woman working there say hello to every single person that came in with a genuine warmth in her tone. She also gave us a few tips about the weekly Thursday community event, Music on Main, which my local friend had mentioned, and told us about how all the stores pull out their sale clothes and offer extra deals during this street fair-type event. All in all I'm so glad I walked into this store and I WILL be back before we head back to SD!

Being from the NYC area, I was blown away by what I found at Recouture Consignment in Bozeman, Montana. Their selection perfectly reflected the local vibe and season--think Pendleton sweaters, Woolrich jackets, high-end ski gear, and other amazing winter finds. On top of that, they had plenty of designer and brand-name pieces at incredible prices. I scored a Marc Jacobs crossbody bag, some great plaid button-downs, a beautiful collection of scarves and shawls, and even some super cool jewelry. We visit the YC and Big Sky every year, and I will absolutely be making Recouture a must-stop again next trip. I can't wait to see what treasures they have waiting next time. You won't be disappointed.

**November 2025: Saturday Afternoon Visit**…read more My mom and I were driving down Main Street and saw a big upscale resale sign. We thought it would be fun to check out so I made a quick turn to head to the parking lot. The store shares the building with a wine shop, but I was really surprised by the selection. Near the front entrance are an assortment of bags and when you walk a little further towards the windows they have a section of bargain pieces! There a $15, $20, and $25 short dress, jackets/outerwear section, and I believe a $10 tops section. The center section of the store had some really great designer pieces, but many were $100+, which is well above my price range for second hand. Nevertheless, if you go to the opposite side of the shop there's a whole section of items that are half off! There's a fun shoe section with some cowboy boots - though they just weren't my size *cries* They have a couple of mirrors around the shop as well as a dressing room, so it's a fun place to play dress up. I did find two jackets as well as a gold belt that I liked on this trip, so it was still a success! Hours Mon-Sat: 10am-6pm Sun: 12pm-5pm Parking: Plentiful Summary: This shop has an upscale boutique vibe to it. Items do tend to be on the pricier side, but I think if you really dig you can find some great gems!

I was wearing my warmest California winter skiing/snowboarding gear but was still feeling chilly while in Yellowstone. But finding clothes in Gardiner that someone in Gardiner would actually wear proved difficult as I quickly learned that Gardiner stores weren't stocked with the cute and warm outfits that I saw the people of Montana wearing - they were stocked with what tourists wanted - souvenirs and last minute travel items. So I get it - there are currently only 971 residents in Gardner and in seasonal months, tourists greatly outnumber residents so shops are geared for the tourist. But it still sucked since it's not what I wanted. Enter "The Saddle Shop". In addition to saddles and horse riding equipment, it offered clothes and accessories that were stylish and wearable. It was the only store open that offered colorful beanies in multiple styles rather than just Yellowstone or plain beanies. I didn't find an appropriate parka or boots but I did find a really cute beanie that I wore everyday for the rest of the trip. Loved it so much!

Mr. Kellem is a custom…read moresaddle maker and Mrs. Kellem runs the retail part of the business as well as making custom leather accessories (purses, chaps, vests etc.) The retail store has everything from shoes and clothes, gifts, tack and leather goods, jewelery, books and lots very unique and often hand made gifts and very few of the items sold in the store were made outside of the United States!!!! The customer service is excellent and the sales people are polite and helpful in finding sizes or helping with gift ideas. They are all very knowledgeable about the products in the store such as where and how they are made. This will be an excellent shopping experience during your trip through Yellowstone National Park and you can see the Roosevelt Arch from the store front and the beautiful mountains laying just inside the gateway to Yellowstone. I have even been lucky enough to see elk eating from the flower box out front of the store and bison strolling up and down Park Street. You will love this place!

I had purchased a pair of jeans that were too big, but had already removed the tags AND did not have a receipt when I went back in. There was a sign that clearly stated the return policy, which I was not incompliance with - But I asked about an exchange anyways. Not only did the gal who helped me bring me other pairs and sizes jeans for me to try on, she did so with a kind heart and understanding beyond what I was deserving of. She took a direct monetary loss simply for my own satisfaction as she will not be able to return or sell the jeans I returned. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You earned a lifelong customer today!
