Obsession, formerly a GO-TO destination in SCV, has unfortunately declined in quality to subpar levels. The salon no longer prioritizes client experience and satisfaction, now only accepting cash payments, rushing clients through sessions, promoting excessive upselling, and frequently changing your scheduled technicians without explanation. Was so excited to try this place out! Arrived for my appointment on time and it was very busy. After 25 minutes they called me to have a seat and I sat there for 10 minutes. Well I'd like to thank Daniella for recommending John at Obsession Nails and Spa. I called and was hoping to get a same day appointment with John but he was booked. I made an appointment for 5 pm on Saturday, the receptionist Carley, Omg she is so nice! She told me if any one cancels she will call me back. I swear, not even 5 minutes goes by and she called me back left a message telling me there is an opening with the Nail Technician John at 4 pm... Sooo Today was my very First time getting my nails done here and let me tell you ....this Nail & Spa location! oh my frickin' gaaaawd! Yep! So worth it... I highly, highly recommend going there. The ambiance is very beautiful and so relaxing. I arrived with coffin nails done by a different technician from a different nail shop. Before I knew it John went to work! I'm disappointed with this place. The receptionist was rude as heck, she was talking with one word responses shortly saying appointment? Whatever but I go and my nails don't take to long which was fine with me but they didn't do the regular fixing up my cuticles or brushing down my nail. Again no biggie, she was talking and looking anywhere but my nails half the time. She finishes quickly but leave so much crud under my nails and the front had areas not filled to much. Only putting on one coat of gel. WTF? Meanwhile my friend is getting just a fill and hers took longer than me getting a full s I start to go back to the receptionist and she reply's 40$. 40 freakin dollars for unfinished treatment? I will not return and hope others listen to this story Update! It's been maybe two weeks and one of my acrylic nails fell off. Went to a nail appointment that I made a week ago and the owner Lily, told me she double booked me so I had to wait 30 minutes. I told her that I wished she called to tell me. she said she called but she didn't. I went last week to get a pedicure and they did gel without asking and when i said that i didn't want gel she said oh sorry i thought you did. And charged me for it. Luckily I found somewhere else to go that is much better quality and better customer service. read more

Love this place and I go regularly! What I love most is that they always have availability and never make me wait when I have appointments. They are very friendly and clean and thorough, so my appointments are usually an hour and a half for a fill & pedicure. (I always love my nail art no matter who does it too!) I really don't have any complaints other than the fact that they don't take cards They do however have an ATM, but yeah, it's hard to always remember to have cash. They were able to take me within an hour of walking in and Kim did my acrylic manicure and she did a fabulous job recreating a picture I showed her. I work in SCV and wanted to find a shop to get a fill. My credit union is located in the same shopping center so I noticed this shop. I read the Yelp reviews and decided to give it a try. Shortly after I arrived I was told to have a seat at one of the stations. I did and sat there for over 15 min waiting for Lisa. I was the last appointment of the day. She was nice enough but rushed, which lead to cutting me with both the hand file and electric sander. I had at least five sore and cut up fingers the next day. I told her specifically what shape I liked, even showing her. She had to replace two nails. One she shaped total coffin, the other was crooked. I had to point out the crooked nail to her and she still kept filing it the wrong way, making it more crooked. So my nails needed up being different shaped. Omg, at this point I just want to get out of there. To make matters worse, the receptionist (only other English speaking employee) informs me that if I use a debit card there is a charge and you can't leave a tip either. I told her it would have been nice to know ahead of time, I would have brought cash. Her response " well most people know this ". With an attitude ! And I am supposed to know how exactly??? When I have never been here and YOU booked my appointment and never told me. The whole shop speaks Vietnamese back and forth the whole time also. It's just alll bad here if you ask me. Went here because my normal place was closed and I needed my nails done for an important work trip. Both ladies working on me were rushed and both hurt my cuticles. Nails are very crooked on hands and feet, polish is wonky and has little air bubbles. It cost about $40 less than my normal place, and you can tell why. I was recommended this place by a friend but to book with John or Lily but they were on vacation so I got put with Kim. I got a full set of acrylics for a special event, I wanted mid length oval shaped nails. I was holding back tears the entire time I have a personal problem of not being able to speak up and tell the nail tech to fix something I don't like. I realized from the first 5 minutes in she was rushing and doing everything half ass , I'm not even trying to be mean but it was the worst application I've ever seen not to mention the complete neglect of prepping my nails all she did before glueing the tips was lightly buff my nails no cuticle attention what so ever and my nails were in shambles. I've done my own nails before during covid with zero experience and I did substantially better than this. It was a sad experience because I had a terrible week and all I was looking forward to was getting my nails done, but little did I know it would in fact not be my saving grace but my actual worst nightmare. So not only did I spend my last dollars on the worst nails I've ever gotten but also be stuck with them for the next 3 weeks and endure the shame of others disapproval with these sad excuse for "professionally done nails". The nails them selves are shorter than I asked for, crooked, lifted up words( the nails literally are pointing up) the application is terrible and thick, they're all different shapes and lengths and just to top it off she sent me away with wet nails and said they were dry. Been coming here regularly for the past few months. John does a wonderful job with my nails, whenever he's not in a rush. If he's got another appointment after me, he will honestly ruin my nails. But you get the best prices. Only thing that bothers me is how much everyone of the staff stares and obviously talks about you. Nancy-still on point with pedicures. The only reason I come here. She takes her time and always does a fantastic job. She's literally the only person that does my pedicures, I refuse to see anyone else here. Attention to detail with the little things, takes her time with massages and scrubs. Went for a mani pedi. It's a small space and they seemed rushed. When getting a manicure, I hope to get my cuticles cleaned and removed but she did not really do that. You can see in the picture. I asked for a heart on one nail and she was impatient and didn't let it dry long enough so it smeared with the clear top coat. I asked her to redo it and she did the same thing again.
