DO NOT RENT HERE!!! I moved my items here after separating from the military and writhing 2-3 weeks…read moreeverything was infested with roaches. I had a large indoor, climate controlled unit paying over $250 a month for it. when I called to inform them of the roaches they replied "yea we know". they did hire people to come out and spray and offered to let me know when they come out so I can open my unit and they can treat it. never got a call, email or text. I called again few months later to find out that they fumigated the entire building 2 months prior. no notice was sent once again. now I am dealing with insurance and apparently it only covers $500 for insect or rodent damages

An excellent early childhood program. I volunteered here for Sociology credits and it was one of…read morethe most rewarding experiences of my senior year. The Reggio Emilia approach that this center takes is outstanding and really challenges the kids. It exposes them to the best aspects of learning. Teachers are taught not to just answer a child's question, but instead boomerang it back to the child - and ask "what do you think?" The answers are always smile worthy. The center's main goal is to encourage a child's crucial c's: curiosity and creativity. From pre-school yoga, to child-directed plays, and all the rest - the center bears all the markings of Oberlin. OECC also has an unbelievable art program, run by Jill Harris and others, harbored in three amazingly crafted buildings; allowing the children to explore their hands-on art talents through a clay room, wire room, and paint room. Probably the best aspect of this center is the diversity. There is a beautiful mixture of professor's children, single parents' children, and all the rest. A fusion of cultures and economic backgrounds. All the staff are excellent, really enjoy what they are doing, and communicate on a regular basis with each other and parents; helping build a phenomenal community. It takes a village to raise a child: a mantra taken seriously here - and it shows.

Here's the bad part about OECC: the wait lists to get in can be pretty long…read more That's literally the only bad part we encountered in the year+ that our kids were there (we started with our infant foster son and his toddler sister). The staff is super diverse and so are the kids who attend, the grounds are beautiful and huge, there's tons of space for the kids to run and play and the staff was consistently so attentive and thoughtful, not just of our kids but of us. Things I especially loved: -Big classrooms, lots of play space both indoors and outdoors -Regular chances for the kids to work with a garden and a REALLY big nature/grassy/play area outdoors (plus two smaller fenced-in areas for really little ones). -Sliding scale for folx with different incomes. -Incredibly good with communication and with working with us (one of our kids had unique health issues and OECC was wonderful with him) -Really open to feedback and flexibility (we had a few times where we gently asked for folx to refrain from touching/playing with our foster daughter's hair and they were totally understanding and it didn't become a Thing) -They provide meals themselves and they're well-rounded, and you get documentation for toddlers and babies of what/how much they ate. Honestly... I could go on and on. As foster parents, our kids sometimes need a bit of extra help or have more appointments/visitors than most kids, and OECC was wonderful in working with us and with the folx involved. We would love to have kiddos go there again someday if there was need and we could find an open spot, and I genuinely can't recommend them enough!
