Wagon Wheel Tennis and Pickleball is like the little engine that could - a municipal gem in DFW…read morethat, unfortunately, honestly goes through big turnout swings with its programming. I've been in and out of their adult tennis drop and drills on Tuesday and Thursday since moving to the area in 2018. For stretches, their tennis drills have been humming with really good players - but then there's a big drop in attendance for a while. The biggest opportunity there is to start developing some new drills and not stick with the comfort of Amarillo and other drill mainstays. Wagon Wheel to its credit was pickleball when pickleball wasn't all that cool - before the pandemic. It seems though with the evolution of indoor operations in the DFW area - several opening since the start of the year - Wagon Wheel has seen a decrease in advanced players and it's mostly low to mid intermediate now - even on their designated advanced courts during their pickleball open plays. They recently enhanced their court waiting area near the original true pickleball courts but are dealing with some backlash over the construction of new courts converted from tennis because they're way too cramped. If you are going to play in a park setting, Wagon Wheel's tennis and original pickleball courts are in phenomenal shape and it's pretty affordable to play there. Their tennis teaching pros work hard and Wagon Wheel has a formidable teen tennis program with other amenities like ball machine rental for both tennis and pickleball. I don't love that it costs more for non-Coppell residents plus fees to run a credit card for tennis and pickleball so I'm willing to pay a little more for better competition and indoor pickleball.

I will likely buy a sweeper and donate to them next year. There does not appear to be any interest in continuing support For ball machine rental. I'll go to oak creek next time. Also it's about $16 plus $2.50 for one hr rental... 3 rounds at most., and you have to take the balls to the court, put it back in the bag then bring it back to the office...:) six years ago at minimal the balls are left on the court. So now wagon wheel is heading to zero star. There is zero management.

I was so pleasantly surprised by all the equipment. First of all there is more than one pool and I have only been at the north pool. It's a lovely pool up to 5 ft, no diving, but beautiful landscape and plenty of tables and chairs and recliners. There is also a little "splash town" that I like to call it where there are these huge rings you can run through with sprinklers on you and also these water sprouts that comeup from the ground that are tons of fun for my 14 month old twin grandsons. Clean and fun. There is also a gym that seems to have the most popular equipment and they are in the process of giving it a "facelift". There is a great play area outside of the pool area and gym that is great fun for the kids. It's new and they had a grand opening and passed out refreshments and had a balloon lady and everything. I'm looking forward to the next few years being here. Great amenities and great people to be around.

I'm a resident of McKinney. I remember when the town was discussing building the indoor TENNIS…read morecourts now taken over by pickleball. Let's talk about the tennis pros: you can sign up for a drill or you can contact any pro at Courts of McKinney for a lesson but the bottom line is none of the pros will take a vested interested in you. None of the pros really care about you. None of the pros will attempt to establish a relationship with you. None of the pros will actively take an interest in whatever your goals are. So when I started 8 years ago here I was at best a 3.0, now I'm a 4.0. 99% of my training has been accomplished outside of McKinney. How many pros have you practiced with at COM you ask? 6 5/6 have left and work elsewhere in Dallas. How many have ever called or texted or taken an interest in my matches, tournaments or training schedule - ZERO. Not one follow up call or text. But the will promptly push the billing to get paid. If you want an 'à la carte' experience and have zero expectations, goals or don't want a real coach, then this is your place. And a few other points - the court garbages are always full. Apparently emptying the garbage each day is too difficult. The gates have large gaps so they either don't close or the exterior gates allow balls to pass through so you always need to bring extra balls. Many of the gates lack mid court access so god forbid you hit a ball over the fence because you can't get it without walking ALLLL the way around. If you want to use the all machine and are expecting balls that bounce, then forget it. The balls are older than Abraham Lincoln's balls. Indoor tennis? Well all you McKinney residents, you can forget about all that tax money you paidfor that because you get to listen to 20-30 pickle ball players screaming and swearing and whatever else they are doing to destroy the atmosphere. Let's not forget the windbreakers on the outdoor court fences. Don't worry your court will be covered with plastic zip ties because they don't care about maintenance. Hey but don't worry, the city mows the surrounding lawn and they take great care to spray all the grass cuttings onto the courts. This would normally be no big deal however no one actually cleans the courts. Make sure you reserve a court before grass cutting day. What day is grass cutting day? No one in the office can tell you! It's a big mystery. Oh snap I forgot to mention the bathrooms they built out by the 'new' courts. Make sure to work on your core strength to squat down to the stainless steel childsize potties but really more importantly is that you bring Lysol wipes to clean the toilets and probably should bring your own toilet paper and hand wipes as often there are none. Ask your doctor for a round of antibiotics after using this place! But if you prefer to walk allllll the way back to the other 'indoor' bathrooms you'll be met with dirty uncleaned stalls with lots of garbage and special odors to fill your nose. All my tax money is pretty much in the pocket of Matt. Oh yeah, he's the guy 'running' this place. Nice job McKinney.

We joined this club because of the indoor courts, admittedly spoiled coming from playing out of a private, exclusively tennis club in Louisiana then a CC here in Texas. This club is more of a tennis academy that allows adults to play. After 6 months of membership, I was literally only able to play a handful of times because there never courts available. This club was focused on their academy side not on the membership. Some of the members I found rude and some just outright mean. My son, who is on the autism spectrum and really good player REFUSED to go back. The staff were pleasant but poorly trained. Facilities are mediocre and everything was à la carte. If you have to play outside there are many very nice public facilities in the area with very excellent tennis coaches, many for former D1 players. I didn't see the point of paying the monthly membership fees for courts you cannot use. Other than the status of belonging to a club owned by a famous player it was really left wanting. I hope things have improved but these are my experiences which was quite disappointing to the point that I paid the early termination fees to leave. Things I wish I had known before joining. Your experience maybe different.

The outdoor courts are very nice and well maintained. If we lived even 30 min from this facility, we would definitely join. Unfortunately, it's close to an hour with no traffic. It's fortunate for people who are close enough to sign up for membership. If this facility was in Dallas, I'm sure it would be overcrowded and people would have difficulty reserving courts.
