We were greeted by Shawn, our barista who had friendly, chill vibes. We asked for his suggestions and ended up choosing the pistachio latte and the espresso drink. Shawn told us to find a seat, I was delighted to see there were tons of spots to choose from. We ended up sitting on the main floor at a very large wooden table that would be perfect for playing games with a large group of friends or family. Shawn promptly delivered our drinks and they were delicious. Besides the drinks, the music and ambience were great and we especially liked the gift area with art, t-shirts, books and more. The sign saying "you are f#ucking magick" resonated as we left in great moods ready to take on the day. We will be back soon!

There isn't a bar or a huge food menu so don't expect that when you enter. The crowd is usually 20 to 30 something hipsters or college students from the river west area. Revel was evidently popular with Milwaukee's African-American population. The bar brought back memories of my high school days in NYC, and I loved the music. While he asked for my identification, the bouncer joked with me, saw I was more than five decades over the drinking age, and told me to put the ID away, and he helped me order a drink. Everyone was warm, and several people even complimented me on my fedora. I only had one drink because my friends were afraid to come in. That's Milwaukee's problem. Service Our waitress was kind and attentive despite handling a large group, but the busboy was unprofessional. He started clearing plates while people were still eating and even asked my husband to reach across the table to hand over other guests' dishes. It made us feel rushed, even though the place wasn't busy. 3. Food My chicken shawarma was greasy, hard, sour, and unseasoned, almost as if the meat had gone bad. The potato balls were cut open which I've never seen and underwhelming. My husband and son's wings were over fried and tough, the spinach artichoke dip was clumpy and poorly blended, and others said the lamb chops were "okay." Honestly, the best thing I ate that night was the pita bread. 4. Overall Experience This used to be our go to for birthdays, Brady Street drag show viewing, and happy hour, but it's gone downhill. Between the sanitation issues, broken furniture, food quality, and rushed service, it no longer feels like "our spot". SO TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION.... The food and service has always been good. Today, we ordered Chilaquiles with Carnitas added in a verde salsa, Corned Beef Hash, and sides of hashbrowns and 2 pancakes (instead of toast). The Chilaquiles were very good and the over easy eggs were perfect. The carnitas were tender and nicely seasoned. The housemade corned beef cubes were tender and the diced pan fried potatoes had a nice latin seasoning blend. I just wish the hash had diced bell peppers and onions. I also wish the poached eggs I asked for with the corned beef hash were cooked properly. I was expecting the type of poached eggs that are like small balloons waiting to be popped so the egg yolk oozes out over the corned beef hash. These poached eggs were over-cooked and looked un-appetizing, but tasted fine. The hashbrowns were perfect - crispy and tender and properly seasoned! The side of pancakes were fluffy and absorbed the syrup quickly. Overall a good visit. The food was mostly on point, except for the disappointing poached eggs and lack of onions and bell peppers often found in a hash. If I go back, I'll stay away from their benedicts (since poached eggs are not executed correctly, and corned beef hash, and instead stick with the Chilaquiles.
