I am JEALOUS of you Oakdale peeps, as you have the good fortune to see Karinne. I have been working…read morewith Karinne for 5+ years now (see my reviews of Karinne at Real People Pilates in Berkeley) and each year she becomes MORE integral to my well being and core strength (not to mention abs). :) What distinguishes Karinne from the average pilates teacher is the following: 1. instantly modifes exercises to work around injuries while still making you work but not putting you in pain afterwards 2. focus on alignment & control - small circles harder than big circles 3. works the entire body in one session - arms, legs, core, back 4. pays attention to problem areas- will pause and ask you to do neck stretches if she sees your neck tensing up; if you tell her you want to reduce bra flab, she'll work your mid-back as well. 5. precise cues - succinct language or visual demos 6. homework - ask and she will give you exercises to do at home Whether I am injured or not, Karinne makes me work (i.e. feel the burn) while being careful to not cause me pain during or after our session. I have tried other pilates teachers, personal trainers and No One Can Work My Body Safely Like Karinne Can. She has X-RAY VISION, I swear and no matter how many layers of clothes I wear, she knows when I am not contracting my transverse abdominis, when I am shortening my right side, when I am not sitting on my right glut (so more weight on left side). She can also tell me when I am not putting enough weight on the outside of my feet (I tend to over pronate when I walk) and when I mentioned knee pain from a past knee injury from yoga, she watched me walk and gave me simple advice - more weight to outside of feet and point knees inward so in line with 2nd and 3rd toes - and the knee pain went away. How cool is that? Karinne has a wide range of clients: non-athletes, yogis, gymnasts, dancers, runners, teens, to people in their 70's, injured people. Her sunny disposition, humorous wit and positive outlook can dispel even the sourest of moods should happen to be in one. As a former bikram yoga teacher who has high standards for teachers of movement (pilates, yoga, dance, etc.), Karinne is the BEST. Take advantage of Karinne's time in Oakdale. I want her BACK in Berkeley.

Karinne is one of the most intuitive, precise, and kind people I have ever had the privilege of…read moreworking with. I wish I could work out with her every single day! Not only do I see her for Pilates as often as I possibly can, but my mother and father both see Karinne, and they are both so much taller and stronger since they started! As a massage therapist and yoga teacher, I am very aware of my body. To have Karinne explain the movement, the breath, and tell me which muscles should be doing the work has helped me create strength and balance that I never could have imagined in my body. Karinne has that special something you want in a teacher: she can walk you through the exercises in a way that makes sense, and she will push you just a tiny bit past your comfort zone so that you can grow. I couldn't recommend her more!

I was excited when I heard this chain was opening up in Modesto and immediately signed up for the…read moreunlimited class 3-month membership at the discounted price. There were so many different classes to choose from and I was excited to try out classes other than just Pilates. However, after signing up, I saw those other different classes were only offered during a normal persons working hours and the only classes at 4pm and after were just regular Pilates. So in the three months I took classes, the only ones I could go to were the Pilates, Pilates 1.5 and cardio sculpt. Also, their free intro classes were set at prime times that should have been for members. Some instructors were good and seemed to know what they were doing, but others (or just one in particular) seemed like she didn't know what she was doing and it was confusing trying to follow her instructions. Also sometimes the music was too loud, which made it difficult to hear the instructor. I think of Pilates being more mindful and if they are going to play music, it should be serene. Save the current playlists and hip hop for the faster paced cardio classes. And some classes it felt like the last 15-minutes was just for stretching. Which is a long time for a class that is basically that anyways. I have Pilates and barre videos at home that give me a better workout than from here and canceled after my promo was up. I'm a Pilates girlie and have been doing Pilates since 2010. But it's expensive and the ownership of the studio I used to go to changed and it just wasn't the same after that so I canceled and just worked out at home until Club Pilates came to town. I love Pilates, but I think you get what you pay for and the non-chain, individually owned studios are a better pick. They are definitely more expensive, but you get an actual workout. All in all, if you are a beginner and looking for an easy workout at a more affordable price, then check Club Pilates out. If you are more advanced, I would research smaller, individually owned studios (there's a new one in Oakdale that just opened and the owner is amazing - I just do not want to drive to Oakdale or I would go there). The staff is all very nice and it's easy to book classes using their app. Depending on your membership, you can book classes weeks out and even if your are wait listed, there's a good chance you will get in because of people canceling.

If I could give zero stars then I would. Not one of their classes worked for my schedule and my…read moreschedule doesn't allow for "at least 12 hrs in advance" for cancellation. I called and then was forwarded to the email. When I wrote an email thoroughly describing this, it basically responded recommending to do the exact things that I already stated I could not do because my schedule is not compatible. I'm pretty sure it was AI or just an extremely disconnected person with bad customer service. Do yourself a favor and buy resistance bands and just watch a YouTube video. After being able to go to absolutely no classes, they charged me for the second month at $180.
