I had Oakberry for the first time during the Summer Stroll and Savor Food Festival. Let's just say, this was hands down my favorite item that we ate all night. From trying dozens of restaurants and shops, Oakberry's Açaí Bowl topped it all. Its fresh fruit and peanut butter, granola, and açaí made this the perfect combination. I really thought I was going to get a bowl, but it is in a smoothie cup and the granola is layered within the smoothie. They'll sprinkle a bit on top with, maybe, a quarter of a banana, but that's it. I ordered the Pistachio. The quality of the acai and the pistachio was excellent. First off, location is good, on second street so it's convenient. Secondly the staff members were very nice, professional, efficient, and helpful. The açaí bowls itself were meh, we got the 16oz, we ordered the crazy for mango and the crunchy bowl. The açaí itself was watery, it came out of a machine felt like a smoothie consistency rather than actual açaí bowl consistency. We got peanut butter in ours and the peanut butter was flavorless and watered down. I love açaí bowls but this has got to be one of the least favorite places to get it from. Pretty pricey for the quality, unfortunately will not be coming back here again. If you're looking for good açaí bowls I wouldn't recommend this place sadly. I decided to treat myself to an açaí bowl and tried Oakberry for the first time! Their sign outside almost persuaded me to get a matcha but felt it was only right to get an açaí - after all, it's their specialty! BUT - I did go the non traditional route and ordered a Pistachio Bowl. At first, my taste buds didn't know what to make of it, but the closer I got to the granola bits, the more I loved the combination. I appreciate that the pistachio cream doesn't overpower the açaí. I have been waiting for Oakberry to open! Perfectly located on 2nd street, where parking can be difficult, I lucked out with a space close by. This is a smaller location with just a handful of stool bar seats at the window and a couple tables outside. I ordered a custom bowl (12oz) which comes with unlimited toppings. Besides the acai base, I also had peanut butter, dry milk, cocoa nibs, goji berries, chai seeds, banana, blueberries and strawberries. It was very good! Nice balance of flavor and texture. Service was great, fast and friendly. I ate my bowl shortly after it was made, and the only thing I wish was better was the consistency and thickness (or lack the of) of the acai. Of all the locations I've been to in the States and Internationally, the acai has always been thicker to start and may thin out on a hot day. My order was pretty much drinkable right away. I was able to attend a Yelp Elite Event at the Sports Basement in Long Beach. Oakberry Acai was one of the participants and was handing out some samples. I have to say out of all the samples there, this was my favorite. The acai was sweet and flavorful and the creamy peanut butter was delicious. Drink came not filled to the top, the "blue smoothie" was a watery nothing on the top of a watery açaí slush underneath. This "smoothie" disintegrated into frothy nothingness. Flavorless. Tried Oakberry for the first time while walking 2nd street -- i heard great things about this place and had to try it myself. Loved the build your own option, price is decent for what you're getting. I really liked how it all tasted, but I wish the acai base didn't melt so fast (it wasn't that hot outside), it was getting watery within minutes after receiving it. Not literally, but I recognized the best Açaí bowls place on 2nd street immediately from the location they have in Greece. Went in on a sunny morning and the place was empty. The cashier wasn't too helpful or didn't ask questions about what I wanted. I ordered the medium with peanut better, granola, and fruit. The protein powder is its own layer, which is just strange. I had to mix the entire cup so make sure I wasn't scooping a bite of powder. I waited about 10-15 minutes, and only then she started making my order. The beat açaí I've had in my life and I'm not exaggerating. I would drive all the way to Huntington Beach just for this & I'm so thrilled there's one in Long Beach. This açaí is the real deal and authentic. My go to order: granola, peanut butter, coconut, strawberry, bananas, and my favorite topping....dry milk! I know what you're thinking like dry milk But this completes my açaí, I feel some people get thrown off with the consistency of the açaí because they're used to the sorbet type but this is not what they have, it's a more liquid texture which is so much better and the authentic way anyways. I love it so much and that Eduardo gave us a small side of it (shown in the picture). Place is small but that's how it is in like in the other locations I've been in. They sell their granola, have merch like shirts, and other beverages.
