My husband had the Steak Meat pie- it was delicious. I had the Classic Burger, it was satisfying and I walked away "so full" and it didn't look that big. Our waiter was very kind, friendly and professional. I'm sorry to say...I just cannot recall his his name (he wore a pearl chocker type necklace). He was very nice and answered all of my questions. Interestingly, there were Tea Cups hanging from the ceiling! I thought that was a brilliant decorating idea. Food was good and the beer was great.

This was my favorite part of our whole trip to Scotland! We had amazing food, clean accommodations, and everyone was super friendly. Would return again!

Love love love the table ordering system!!! Super efficient. We had a veg burger and veg curry and both were good. The curry was hot so just be aware. The location is fantastic especially if you've just walked up Conic Hill and have an appetite. But it's pricey. The staff are nice and helpful. Give them a try.

Nice lunch Balmaha in summer is a pretty busy place. We were surprised it's more packed than Balloch, where we just came from. We planned on having a good lunch before talking a walk along the Loch. Dogs are welcome outside and we were lucky to get a spot at a table out front. The menu has some interesting items. I just simply went for a Burger with fries and my wife for a smoked salmon plate. Local beer to go with. The beer was really good - nice flavours and cold! The Burger was really good, topped with fried onion rings. And sweet chili sauce on the side (only used a little of that). Salmon had nice smokey flavour, tender....good quality. Given the location prices were fair and service pretty fast. A good place to fill your stomach before or after a walk and get your well-deserved beer.

    The chickpea curry. Delicious!

Just returned from my honeymoon in Scotland, and we stayed at the Oak Tree Inn the first two nights. We loved it here! Perfect location for views of Loch Lomond, hiking Conic Hill and taking a boat ride across the loch to Luss. Our room was more "cabin-like" than a regular hotel room, but no biggie. First of all, it's literally in a cabin, so it's kinda part of the experience. It had everything we needed and was very comfortable and quaint. (Plus, views of the loch out your back door are a bonus!) The staff were friendly and accommodating, and it was always a relief to have the Inn to come back to for a pint after a long day of hiking in the rain. The decor of the restaurant and bar very much fit my idea of an "Inn." The bar area is cozy with a working fireplace and the restaurant side is decorated like a tea room. The food was top-notch in my opinion and included a host of traditional British favorites--think meat pies, haggis, curry, etc. Mmmmmm. A full Scottish breakfast was included with our accommodation plan, and it did not disappoint! I think I stuffed myself with haggis, roasted tomatoes and mushrooms both mornings. :) The Oak Tree Inn was bustling with locals, hikers and tourists alike, and we felt very welcome there. Highly recommend for accommodations in Loch Lomond, or just to stop and have a bite and a pint!

With the sun creeping out from behind the clouds on Sunday we headed out for a drive with no real destination in mind. As we approached Drymen I remembered this cracking wee pub and turned left to head for Balmaha. Sidenote: You can walk from Balmaha (up the Conic Hill first) then back to Drymen in an afternoon, mostly paths, a lovely wee walk!). The Oak Tree Inn is right opposite a large car park at the base of the Conic Hill, so parking isn't an issue. It's a cosy wee place in the winter, low beamed ceiling, stuffed animals and other bric-a-brac adorn the walls and ceilings, and in the summer it has plenty of outdoor benches. We grabbed a table, got some drinks and perused the menu. With a fair range of pub food, burgers, pizza, and more traditional dishes on offer we ended up choosing the Oak Tree Burger (for me) and the Giant Mince filled Yorkshire Pud for her. Despite it being 4pm the kitchen was obviously still going full pelt as it didn't take long for our meals to arrive. First impressions are very important and the towering burger that was placed in front of me looked delicious, if not a little imposing! Equally the Giant Yorkshire pudding was the size of the plate, filled with mince, mash and garden peas... had we bitten off more than we could chew?? The burger was quite a feat of engineering, with a lightly toasted bun, the usual lettuce red onion and tomato base, on top of which was placed a massive double onion ring, the 6oz cheeseburger, another large onion ring (within which lurked a generous dollop of sweet chilli sauce) before the top of the bun, all skewered through with pickle and tomato on top. The side order of chips looked positively puny in comparison!! Of course, all that engineering comes at a price, and for this was a few ingredients too far for the poor bun which struggled valiantly but ultimately was defeated, the bottom section giving up the ghost a few bites in. The burger itself was ok, I'm tempted to suggest it was bought in due to the shaping but it tasted good if a little over cooked and under seasoned. The downside was the onion rings. One onion ring would probably have been enough, especially given the size of them and the fact they weren't quite as crispy as they could've been so I was left with quite a greasy plate. Thank goodness I didn't 'double up' and get two burgers in mine (I was VERY hungry). I ate it all mind you, the chips were pretty good as well, but it felt a little like the burger was more for show than for flavour, trying a little too hard. Meanwhile, the Giant Yorkshire Pud to my left was being quietly devoured although Clare did pause long enough to tell me that whilst the mince was very tasty, the mash potato was a little too gloopy, I tried a bit and have to agree. Was it made from frozen perhaps? Overall it was ok, the location is as much as selling point as the food though which maybe isn't the best sign. A little less style over substance (or taste over towers!) and they'd be a recommendation for sure.

I really love this place! Our room in Loch Sloy was a dream! Spending my holiday here for 10 days last summer and enjoyed every minute in the pub. I miss the wonderful staff - friendly, professional, very obliging, etc :) - Auktumas - you were the best man there and enriched our stay. the ambiance of the pub is authenic and romantic We have tested nearly the whole menu and day specials :) my 4 favorites: never eat Haggis before - after I tasted it the first time, ate it every morning for breakfast :) - so delicious! black pudding - also my first time - of course not my last! Pulled Pork Burger - first I must say: all of the burges are great because they're not trying to score points by unnecessary supplements! - the pulled pork burgers I know from Berlin are good, but - the pulled pork replaced the beef paddy - not at the Oak Tree Inn - here they're forming an unity - a marvellous unity!! Banoffi Pie - toffee, banana, cream - any questions? the only drop of bitterness is the offer of beer - I am German and I love our Pils - ale and I will no be friends ;) we'll be back next year :)

This is a pretty busy place, but it's not what we call a "tourist trap". It's my fifth time here and the food is always great. It's nothing sophisticated but real good pub food. The beer battered haddock is great, also the burgers. Try the clansman burger... it's perfect!. They have a wide choice of local ales. Unfortunately they only have one lager, but that's a good one. Staff is friendly even if it's busy.

We ate here after an hiking to the conic hill. The food was nice - not too fancy- our waiter was great and helped us to choose the dishes. Do not seat next to the outdoor door. It opens all the time...

The entrance very confusing. The restaurant was lovely but some staff more attentive than others. We asked for the bill twice before having to go up ourselves. The portion size was out of proportion e.g. my husband had loads of hummus left because he only received a few crackers. The leisure facilities had no staff there - you were left to your own devices to find out how everything worked. The lockers were complicated - again signage very poor. Nothing flowed properly. Quite disappointing really. We got this as a gift - not sure if I'd go out of my way to return.

Service upon arrival was fantastic and and were quickly checked in and given directions to our room (thank goodness!) The room was spacious and had its own sauna which was super cool. Each room had a balcony and the shower/sinks had an interesting layout without a door, but somehow fitted well with the design of the room. It was quite rustic in terms of design and I've rated one less star because the room was dusty (I pulled up the blind and heaps of dust fell on me) and the walls appear to be paper thin (10pm and I could hear conversations through the wall and children carrying on in the hallway). The views from the room look directly over the lake and mountains in the background which was utterly breathtaking. So onto food. We were seated by the window with great views of the lake again. Service was prompt and friendly which was lovely. For starters: bread with oil and balsamic, and scallops with black pudding. Both pretty good and the scallops were cooked well. Mains: beef burger and the rib eye cooked rare. Again, both good, not amazing though. Dessert was the peanut butter parfait which was clumsily plated but tasted good. Overall it was... good. There was really nothing that stood out or wowed me though. Breakfast the following day was good, we had the classic Scottish breakfast which was hot and tasted good, but again nothing remarkable. Overall a lovely stay due to the views of the lake. It was generally peaceful and relaxing and a really great gift idea.

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of our hike of the West Highland Way, and had the best time here! The staff was wonderful (although it's obvious that they were all horse thieves, pirates and highway men in an earlier life, they were so friendly and helpful, they made us feel very welcome). The food was great (I'm still dreaming about that delicious steak and Guinness pie). The atmosphere made you feel like you'd stepped back in time-- lamp light and muskets and stuffed puffins and a bear in a Drovers t-shirt and kilt. OK, maybe not TOTALLY historically accurate, but history mixed with wit and a sense of fun. They tell me this inn is haunted. It must be by friendly, fun-loving spirits. On our first night there was live music at the bar. We enjoyed the singer/ guitar & harmonica player very much, but it all kicked up a notch when he got the whole room to join in on the singing. Everyone was clapping, stomping and pounding the table, while belting out a rousing rendition of "The Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond". I can't remember enjoying a meal more. On our second night there, the power went out (thank you, Hurricane Amy). The staff showed that although they are retired horse thieves and pirates, they take their current jobs in hospitality very seriously. They could not complete cooking of the evening meals, so it was a quick pivot to sandwiches for all. They handled it with professionalism and grace that made the inconvenience part of the adventure (as one staff member quipped, it was all part of the haunted experience). Breakfast, too, was pulled together with what was available and ingenuity, as they made instant coffee and tea with water heated on the wood stove, and we feasted on cold cereal and granola bars. But as the staff met the challenges with good humor and made the best effort to make it a good experience for the guests, we walked away with an abundance of good memories and an enduring fondness for the Drovers Inn (and its resident horse thieves, pirates and highway men).

We stopped in on a rainy afternoon for some lunch in October of last year…read more We checked in and then were seated by the fireplace and brought menus. We opted for a burger for Morgan, and a steak and haggis pie for me, with sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Service was polite, and pretty quick. The only minor complaint we had was when Morgan ordered a whisky that he could clearly see on their bar, they had no clue what he was asking for. The food was phenomenal. The burger was really tasty and cooked well, and the steak and haggis pie...I could eat that every day of my life, it was that good. If you're in the area and looking for a good spot to enjoy some really tasty food, I highly recommend the Loch Lomond Arms. If we find ourselves back in Scotland, I will absolutely eat here again.

There's plenty of tables - but be sure to make a reservation, on weekend it's full. Menu has some really good options on it. And then there are daily specials. Inside it's a nice pub/restaurant. Very comfy and cosy. Our English Bulldog was welcome as well. Then they got a nice selection of drinks at the bar with lots of different and also local whisky. We very much enjoyed the Loch Lomond brand. Here's what we had: Pot of Mussels - very nice and very fresh Cheese plate - nice selection of scottish cheeses Haggis with sides - the BEST haggis I've had so far; fantastic 1/2 dozen Oysters - amazingly great oyster; really a must-order homemade terrine - very enjoyable, but not the best starter on the menu Sunday Roast set menu (once with ham, once with lamb) - quite good, but the meat a bit dry Haggis balls - my favorite starter, could eat these all day every day Cured salmon - sadly not that great Steak Pie - a good choice; hot, crispy and creamy Burger and fries - a very nice, fresh burger; good quality meat Fish'n'Chips - very nicely done, fresh and crispy...and stays crispy to the end All in all they got a really good menu. What's standing out seafood-wise are the amazing oysters and wonderful mussels. Meat-wise it's definitely the delicious Haggis - as a starter or main. Equally great. Surely a place to come back to one day. We enjoyed it.

Afternoon Tea Experience…read more Came here to have a nice Afternoon Tea. We did stay just half an hour away for a couple of days and the Afternoon Tea looked excellent when we checked online. Made a reservation (a must) a few days before. Our Bulldog was welcome here as well which was great! There are several parking lots on the grounds, so we took one a bit further away from the building to enjoy a bit of a walk on the grounds before heading in. The Afternoon Tea is served in The Lobby Bar. Which might not sound exciting, but actually has a very comfy and classy setting. Some tables (which were taken already) with wonderful views. Got our table and got the Afternoon Tea explained. Then ordered some pots of tea - there's more complimentary tea in case one or two aren't enough. You even can switch to other flavours. Dilma tea is served here and has some excellent flavours. "Italian Almond", "Blueberry/Pomegranate" and "Rose, Marzipan & Mint" were all great. First served was Leak & Potatoe Soup, Haggis Bonbons, Vol-au-Vent, Quiche and various Finger Sandwiches (Scottish Smoked Salmon with Dill Butter | Roast Chicken & Cranberry | Cream Cheese & Cucumber | Brioche with Egg Mayo & Cress). All fantastic items. Nothing store-bought, really tasted housemade and homemade. Then Strawberry Pavlova, Chocolat Religieuse, Victoria Cake and Lemon Poppy Seed Cake. Third and last then the Scones with clotted cream and jam were served. This really is an experience and you won't go home hungry. Don't plan on any big meals later on....or before arriving. The quality is really high, it really rises above any other Afternoon Teas we've had in various places. Even a big name in London wasn't as good as this one. But not just taste-wise it was excellent, but also the presentation. All pieces of art. As great in taste as they look. Amazing. Service was nice and friendly and working hard. Just at the start there was a bit of confusion. First the tea didn't arrive. And when it did, there weren't any cups yet on the table until we've called. But that was a very minor issue that didn't bother our great experience here. And really: at 50$ pp it is fair priced. You get a lot of wonderful dishes and items here. You can also upgrade to an Afternoon Tea with Champagne or Sparkling Wine if you'd like to. Surely the best Afternoon Tea we've had so far. Highly recommended. But checking in at the front desk, we encountered a woman too busy to give us much information about the hotel or whether we needed reservations for any of the restaurants or activities. She rushed us through checkin and told us to read about it on the tv from our room. When we found our room, there was a lovely welcome platter of chocolate on the table that I had pre-ordered to surprise my daughter for Christmas. But next to it was a half-empty small bottle of milk. And in the fridge was a half drunk bottle of water. Then we tried to pull up the dining options on the tv as the woman told us to do. We scanned the QR code which took us to options. We clicked on room service and tried to access the menus, but we received error messages after trying multiple times. We dialed the extension "2414" it gave us to call room service. That line was dead. Again, we tried multiple times to no avail. We then called the front desk and asked if we could have unopened bottles of water and milk and if someone could take away the half-drunk bottles. We had to call twice to remind them since nobody came after the first call. The front desk then connected us to room service and the guy said he could try to walk us through the menu over the phone. I asked if we could have a physical menu to look at. He said he'd send one when he had time as he was working on five orders ahead of us. I told him we just wanted to know what was on the menu so we could decide if we were going to go to the pub, try the traditional Christmas dinner or room service. He said it might be awhile. I expressed my unhappiness about not being able to get information about our dining options and he was rude but said he'd send a menu when he could. The woman who brought us water and milk for the chocolates was friendly and tried to get the menu on the tv to work, but it didn't work for her either and she said the number they listed was wrong and suggested we try another number "2411" I think. By then my daughter was upset with me because I was becoming frustrated by feeling like the hotel staff was too busy on Christmas to provide information or service to us. With that, my daughter went to the pub alone to find food and I'm going to sleep. Christmas night is ruined after us being so excited to finally get here. It's too bad they don't have working QR codes or enough staff to help their paying guests. Seems like other people come just for dinner and maybe they are getting good service but as a paying hotel guest, this was perhaps the worst checkin experience I've ever had. Probably what we should've expected for traveling at a busy time of year like Christmas.
