The catering manager Melissa then began avoiding my messages and requests for my money back in which I finally had to reach out to the accounting department of the manteno glof club in order to get my deposit back for a mistake made on the establishments end. In the end I was thankful this occurred early on because it truly shows the lack of professionalism this establishment has and we would inevitably had many more issues if we went through with our reception at the Manteno Golf Club. I would warn anyone to stay away from this place unless they have new catering management/event coordinator becuae the one in charge now is a incapable of her job. Now it may sound harsh but I have worked in the service/restaurant business all my life and believe me, this kind of behavior does not happen unless an establishment is going under and hired uneducated staff in order to save a buck. In the end the customer suffers the most so stay away.

The staff is socially challenged at the very least and rude at the worst. What is in the water here that pp are so unfriendly? They are playing golf on a beautiful day and they appeared angry, definitely not friendly. Perhaps because we were not regulars? Not like any course we've ever been to before. Golfers have always been the friendly sort. So much potential here. Someone who cares needs to buy this course. The potential is amazing. The current offering is a fail.

The staff were super friendly, and they made sure you knew deals the were having and really emphasized to just have fun with the course. The course is a par 3 course so it shouldn't be treated like a ultra competitive professional course. You should have fun with it, and my group definitely did. The course offered enough obstacles to make you think how you need to pay, and the greens were a fun challenge. On the downside, there were definitely some bad divits on the Fairway and some bad patches on the green that weren't that big a deal, but when putting and there is bald patch on your line, it makes it that much harder to hit your putt. Finally the markers for teeing off were definitely moved around and the range to green was definitely not right fortunately we had a range finder. Overall though great experience, and I will definitely be returning to practice my mid range game.

Never once did I feel like my complaint was being heard because he was rude and argumentative. I suggest retraining the staff on how to be friendly in enforcing the course rules. The tone of voice and way my phone call was handled was not representative of the City of Joliet and their Park District. Did not feel at all welcome or like he appreciated the business... happy to take our money elsewhere, I guess.

In July we attended the tasting to try all the dishes and from there chose all the menu options for the reception dinner. It was very convenient to have the venue as the caterer, and as we had eaten at McWethy's, their restaurant, many times (including the night we got engaged), we knew the food would be good. Since our wedding was in November, we had both the ceremony and the reception in the Great Hall. There was another event there (baby shower) in the morning but we were able to take possession of the bridal room at 2:30 pm and the other group had cleared out by then. My now-husband and his team of friends who were helping set up said the staff did a good job of quickly flipping the venue from the baby shower to ours. My only quibbles with the venue pertain to the bride room. There was only one lit bulb in the chandelier, so lighting was poor; no hangers in the closet; they provided us with a samovar of water upon request, but it leaked all over the vanity (water bottles would have been better); the couch is very low (my maid of honor couldn't get up from it without help; my mother brought in a couple of dining chairs so we weren't just standing, because there was just one other armchair to sit on); and it started out freezing but ended up roasting hot in the room. It was a good thing it was just me, my maid of honor, my mom and my hairdresser, and we had already done makeup at my mom's house in the morning, because if there had been lots of bridesmaids it would have been too crowded! (The bride room is connected to the public ladies room, but it has a keypad lock; the lighting in there is quite ambient as well.) We went for a medieval sort of theme with our wedding, so the Tudor-style beams and large fireplace in the Great Hall worked well with this. Our photographer also took photos outside against the golf course and building, including a lovely but very steep bridge. Cocktail hour was in the Terrace Room while they flipped the Great Hall from the ceremony seating to the tables and dance floor setup. We had arranged for specialty cocktails (named after our cats!) and the bartender delivered! The catering captain, Betty, introduced herself to us and also coordinated the timing of things well (speeches, bringing out the late night snack pretzel wall, etc). All the staff that we interacted with were true professionals. The food was all delicious (we chose NY strip with garlic herb butter sauce, chicken with champagne sauce, and cauliflower steak with pesto sauce as our three entree choices), and it was very helpful that they could make accomodations for vegans, vegetarians, people with gluten allergies, and dairy intolerance. This was quite an affordable yet very beautiful venue for our perfect day! Everything went perfectly as far as I know and we heard so many times from guests how lovely the setting was. I would highly recommend Mistwood as a wedding venue if you are planning for your special event.

Wow did I feel so small and stupid! Nicole came up to me in the waiting area and I could tell she was a little shocked at my age. When she found out I have never played well all she kept asking is what sports I have played. When I said none, she replied with "not even bowling?" With such a condescending attitude i really wanted to walk out then. She made it VERY clear with her attitude that she was very annoyed with having me as a student. I felt SO stupid and will never go back there and probably never take lessons anywhere because I do not want to ever feel like she made me feel ever again!

Golf carts are electric, but have way too many ads appearing on the GPS screen. Annoying. Green fees are fair and they offer a small senior discount during the week. Restaurant: Food is really very good. Service varies from good to slow, depending on the size of the crowd. Breakfasts are excellent. The bar, unfortunately, only carries 2 brands of scotch, neither of which is very good. But they do have a large variety of beers, and other drinks. Accommodations: This is where I was extremely disappointed. The cottage (Cottage C) claimed to have 2 queen beds in each of the 4 rooms. That's quite an exaggeration, if not an outright lie. The beds are singles (and small singles, at that). Very uncomfortable sleeping conditions. If you can get the cottage with the king bed, do so, otherwise, skip the trip.
