If you're in a rush for something important, it's best not to try and slip in here first; even if the place is free of other customers.
I've never been to a post office where it has taken so long to get a simple money order. After 15 minutes of standing at the counter watching the franchisee tapping away at her computer processing my request; I politely asked how much longer it was going to take, (holding my 10kg baby was getting a tad painful by that stage). For my impatience I then received an equally polite lecture on the intricacies and difficulty of putting a money order through the system.
Sure, the franchisee is nice enough and she probably is trying her best, but I don't have the time, (nor the energy to hold my beautiful bundle) to wait 20 minutes for a money order - particularly when I was the only customer! Maybe my patience is all being used on my children, but I'd prefer to drive the extra five minutes to the Glenroy Post Office. You might have to wait in a queue for five minutes but even with the drive time added to the wait time, you'll still be ten minutes up and not seething by the time you're creasing up that money order. read more
