None of that 300 room hotel just off the freeway nonsense here. Just 12 recently remodeled rooms with a balcony view of the Mississippi just across the street. Rooms have a mini-fridge, microwave, Wi-Fi with great speeds and a strong signal. Owners are the greatest. Check-in was a breeze. We had left a fan in the room for white noise at night (which we never used). Received a text shortly after that we had left it behind. When we returned, we got the backstory of 'Coco The Queen of the Mississippi' The Inn's rescue cat. The Queen graced us with a visit while sitting on our ground floor deck on a couple of occasions. As others have noted, there are freight trains that come through now and then. Which for me, a guy, is a plus and is pretty cool to watch. We both slept through it without trouble. No horn, loud bangs, sparking wheels or any of that movie sort of stuff.

We'll things calmed down after lots left for the wedding. Fortunately it really was pretty quiet during the night. I was kind of ready for noise with people returning from the wedding. The bed was very firm so I didn't sleep too well but I guess that's the breaks of staying in a hotel. We did go to the pool and there was a funky smell and the water was greenish. I think it needs a good cleaning or something with the filter. Our suits did have a weird smell so I soaked them when we got home. Hopefully they'll be ok. We did appreciate the bottle of water we got at check in. Thank you. As for breakfast there was no where to sit so we decided not to stay. That was a bummer. We come over to Menomonie often so we'll see.

Specifically for the pool to exercise before we sit in the car again tomorrow. Upon arrival the smell in the lobby was strong.. propanish. I asked about it and the attendant didn't know what I was talking about. AFTER. checking in she tells me the pool and jacuzzi are closed because of chemical issues, I was disappointed and was told she couldn't discount because of the pool. It is advertised with pool, the sign out front says pool!!! Ugh! Out of desperation we stayed. on the positive side the room is huge and appears clean. The whole place smells aweful!!! The lobby, the hallways, the room. Ice machine downstairs out of order! Lesson learned... horrible experience! Would love to speak to someone who gives a damn! Also we travel 40 weeks a year, we will never....never stay at a Super 8 again.

There will not be a third year…read more The first year, we had a reasonably clean cheap room with a newer mini fridge, but the toilet didn't flush properly and the water pressure in the shower was awful. We were only there one night, so we wrote it off. This year, requesting a non-smoking room resulted in being given a room with a big 'no smoking' sign on the door, but the room reeked of smoke so badly that even requesting a second cleaning didn't help. There were plastic buckets full of sand to use as ashtrays outside EVERY room, right outside the window/AC. It was disgusting, all our clothes smelled of smoke, and the amount of allergy medication necessary to be able to breathe at all meant getting no sleep for most of the night. We would have left after the first night, but the other local hotel/motels were booked solid. Soap was not replaced, nor were toilet paper or towels, during the stay. If you request extra towels, they don't show up with the cleaning crew, you have to go to the front desk and hope someone is there. Water pressure was ok, but it took over five minutes for the water to go from cold to mostly warm. The fridge in the room was old and smelled musty inside. The freezer compartment was so choked with ice that it wasn't useable at all. There are no over During our check out 'look around the room for anything you've forgotten', we made the mistake of looking under the beds. Don't do it. The dust bunnies are so huge they've just about gained sentience enough to look back at you. I understand the concept of 'you get what you pay for' but if there had been any available rooms in the hotels/motels nearby, we would have left after the first day, because paying to have massive allergy attacks all weekend and having to launder even my luggage to get the residual smoke stench out is not my idea of a good time. Avoid this place. There's a Super8 across the street and another smaller hotel two blocks away. Heck, if it means you have to sleep in your car in the truckstop parking lot, avoid this place.

Everything in the room was so clean and tidy, it looks like there were recent updates perhaps? The king suite had plenty of space to lounge and spread out. Plenty of closet space and a large dresser for all your clothes. Lots of extra pillows and blankets as well. There are so many windows to let in a fresh breeze, and ceiling fans were a bonus. Outlets everywhere and alarm clocks have usb and charging outlets on them. Wifi is available and they will provide the password at check in. The kitchenette was small but functional with a mini fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee maker(kcup style) and a small sink. The bathroom has a full size vanity and cabinets of clean towels and extras. There's a separate fish cleaning room on site which was a huge bonus. Some cutlery, storage bags, cutting boards and a sink for washing up. There's also a small chest freezer that can be used to store the cleaned fish if needed. I saw some gathering spaces outside- a fire pit with chairs around it and a patio with a grill, cooler and plenty of seating. Many rooms also has glider rocking chairs outside the door and I really enjoyed using those! My only complaint would be that there's no coat rack. Not entirely necessary but it rained all weekend and we ran out of chairs to hang all our gear for drying. Edit to add that we met one of the owners this morning, Julie, and she's as kind as can be! Had a nice long talk about the Inn and future plans. Also our room did not have a true kitchenette, I was mistaken. those rooms had already been booked. However the space we had was useful and far better than most hotels offer. Hopefully we can book one of the kitchenette rooms next spring!
