A review for a cemetery? Well, I suppose there's a first for everything!
Even though I didn't experience this cemetery first hand (*ahem* and hopefully not any time soon) I did spend enough time here to be able to share my experience via Yelp.
I've always been fascinated with history and cemeteries are chock full it! We decided to spend the morning roaming the older grave sites on the hill. It was apparent there was some much needed maintenance, to both the landscaping and the actual markers.
The grass was full of weeds, leaves, and other vines. Several of the large tree roots had pulled up markers and plots. One small marker was completely obscured by dirt and leaves that I nearly tripped over it. I cleaned it off, and the area around.
In many respects, this cemetery is beautiful. The quietness, the mountains around, and the overall feel is really wonderful. But the older markers on the hill could use better maintenance. The poor fountain, restored in the 70's, is in desperate need of some TLC.
Many of those laid to rest here died in the 1860s-1880s. One lady was born in the late 1700s and crossed the Plains! This area deserves our respect and that includes the necessary maintenance. Some of these lovely stone markers won't last very long, hopefully the good people of Healdsburg can figure out a solution. read more
