Ok, so, I had spent a fair amount of time on Marlboro's campus growing up: my parents (who were both CUNY Professors) had friends and colleagues who taught at Marlboro, I'd attended the Marlboro Music Festival growing up, I'd toured the campus numerous times, and had my admissions interview. I got in. I NEVER would have gone there. It's INSANELY small. Bordering on incestuously TINY. ALL the students knew each other and were up in each other's business. Brattleboro (a town I LOVE) is 20 minutes away by car, and there is literally NOTHING around Marlboro itself. I would have gone stir-crazy there. Even Bennington College was better (although not by much either), but Bennington seemed more academically credible and at least was IN the town of Bennington itself and had civilization around it. Amherst/Northampton was a BUSTLING METROPOLIS comparatively. Ergo, I chose Hampshire over Marlboro. I sometimes even found Hampshire too small and insular at 1,400+ students, so I would have found Marlboro COMPLETELY intolerable at 300. However, all that said, there were components of Marlboro's academic structure I found interesting. And the location of Marlboro is gorgeous. Vermont is gorgeous. However, Marlboro was TOO SMALL and isolated for me. Years later, a neighbor of mine in Brooklyn told me her son had gone to Marlboro and LOVED it. So, I guess it ALL depends on what you can individually put up with. I can't deal with not having culture and civilization around me, balanced out by beauty and nature and being outdoors. I need both.

I went here. Honestly, the students here are the meanest people I ever dealt with. "Performative…read morecruelty" was common and I was a popular target for it. I was older, noticeably different, not the best looking guy. I let it bounce off me as much as I could. Professors seemed to support it. I was basically iced out when I never hurt anyone or did anything to deserve it. The culture made me feel unsafe and uncomfortable. I kept my earbuds in everywhere to block it all out. Professors are ableist despite being "liberal". They'll make your disability a defining characteristic. They think people with disabilities don't belong in college. I honestly believe people like that don't deserve a job teaching anything but whatever. Zero stars.

The Putney School is a great place to experience high school! The students are from all over the…read moreworld, which adds so much to life and just to the way one learns about everything. From working in the barns and the dining room, and living in the dorms one learns about oneself AND about others. I love the mentoring experience, and that dozens of kids are from international backgrounds which lets me learn in new ways from both the faculty AND the students. A terrific place!

We can't even agree on where to vacation or a restaurant, so this is a great find. First, Jordana scheduled this directly with me, always quick to respond to emails. We had the price list ahead of time, so were able to check things out ahead. That was great. There were many different items to choose from, and we chose a paperweight, 2 vases and a bowl. Hubby started by making his paperweight. Throughout, Jordana answered questions (and we had many) and explained what we were doing. It was so cool just to be so close to the ovens. J and her helper (forgot his name) had their hands helping us when needed, and guiding us as we went through the steps. You turn the rod slowly, then you go pick up the colors you chose before we started, then you go back to the oven to get it hot again, etc. Was super. We were able to finesse what we wanted as we went along, too. So my daughter and I both made vases, but mine is a traditional straight sided vase in bright blues and hers is a triangular vase with a wide bottom in browns. So cool. We liked it so much we decided we would go annually for a family excursion. AND yelped helped us choose the Smoking Trout down the street for lunch, which we really enjoyed. I expected it to cost up to $500, but it was $375, including everything. I picked it up a couple of days later. This for us, was such a great choice. HIGHLY recommend this to families.
