The Putney School is a great place to experience high school! The students are from all over the world, which adds so much to life and just to the way one learns about everything. From working in the barns and the dining room, and living in the dorms one learns about oneself AND about others. I love the mentoring experience, and that dozens of kids are from international backgrounds which lets me learn in new ways from both the faculty AND the students. A terrific place! read more

hello i had dinner at the KDU last night. Terrible service. Danny O'Brian was our waiter, he LIED to us about the origin of all the food. He told one of our dinner mates that the chicken was full of gluten and she could not eat the chicken. But later he revealed that it was in fact not glutenous. disappointed to say the least. read more

Nestled deep in the woods of Putney, VT is this ultra private (and seemingly ultra expensive) school on a vast tree lined campus. Absolutely beautiful upon first arrival. A friend of ours happens to be an alumni and consequently decided to have his wedding here. Now I don't think they generally have weddings here as it did not seem set up for weddings in a traditional sense, but the wedding really came out great and it was the perfect spot for a quiet and secluded wedding reception. The ceremony was held on the vast "ultimate frisbee" (?) grounds at the peak of a small hill overlooking the valley. From there we went over to what appears to be the gymnasium for cocktail hour and the reception. It was quite the beautiful building. The large sliding doors allowed you to sneak off and star gaze if you needed a break from the dancing. I'm pretty sure the food was an outside caterer, but regardless, it was good. This is definitely a great alternative spot for a wedding reception in the Vermont / Western Mass area. read more

I attended this school for 1 and half years before leaving for "health" reasons. Let me just say, for 40k+ a year, you'd expect them to do a lot better. First of all, this place operates on a star system. If you're not a prodigy who can already wow everyone and be a great website blurb or performance for parents/visitors, don't expect an art class with stellar instruction, or any instruction at all, in fact. And if you can deal with a class, flattery for bad art is abundant, and it's up to the other students to silently judge your artistic worth. I felt like just a walking tuition that fills in the spaces between the star kids. Because of my experience, I have now been convinced that I have no talent and should really find some other area of focus, but not to try to hard in that area, or everyone else will think I'm a delusional poser. Also, there are very few good, veteran teachers left. There are so many new/cheap teachers, that classes really aren't even up to most state standards in my home state. My Algebra 2 class ended a good 4 chapters before the state standards here end. I was also cyberbullied by a student at this school, and watched her do the same to other students. The school then broke state law by deleting evidence, and I eventually had to leave because the situation got so bad. They dealt with everything very poorly, and no disciplinary action was taken. Don't send your introverted, self conscious child here, they'll just crash and burn. read more
