We walked into the most friendly staff member (I'm guessing owner!) who quickly explained how the process worked. They have a wide selection of crafts to do for a variety of price points. The owner was very transparent with my friend and I how prices worked and was incredibly friendly. Once we choose our crafts, she helped us set up and let us go at our own pace. The price point includes everything you need and no time limit! She also was kind enough to show us her book bedazzling class list and explained to us how it worked in case we wanted to come for it! She also explained how her classes are on the website which we later reviewed! I will say, this is a perfect craft for kids with grandparents or for people waiting out weather. I would totally come back the next time I'm in Manchester. The staff member also took time to listen to our feedback and ask for any possible suggestions of crafts as my friend and I are both horse people in Manchester for HITs Vermont. This past summer I had the opportunity to take a writing workshop with Gabrielle Danchick and Alice Smith Duncan. The workshop leaders spent six full days looking at book outlines for three separate genres: Middle school fiction, historical novel, and memoir. A very practical, hands-on approach, with time built in for writing and critique, made this an exceptional experience. In the setting of the SAW environment, we were able to choose different venues to read aloud, make suggestions, and work as a group or individually. I highly recommend this workshop for anyone striving to write prose and complete a published work. Food, coffee, tea, and other offerings are healthy and plentiful. Lodging available on site or in area establishments. Fee of $50/day was very resonable for the amount of attention I got for my writing project.

I am a graduate of Vermont Academy and a parent of a rising senior. VA had been a life altering…read moreexperience for me, but I had not planned to send my children due to the expense and wanting to keep them at home. However, my son went to VA his junior year after, thanks to Covid, spending far more time in isolation with his mother and looking at screens than any any 16 year old boy should have to. VA has been a fantastic experience for him socially, emotionally, academically, and physically. He participated in soccer, which he had never played before, and really enjoyed it. He played on the hockey team, and while he has played on southern house teams for many years, he was one of the least experienced -- and his discomfort there was probably the only negative experience. This spring he participated in climbing and really loved it. He also missed a lot of school due to the flu, mono, and a death in the family. Teachers were very supportive and, while still holding him accountable, helped him to get caught up. He recently returned home and is already looking forward to fall and all of the opportunities that the fall will bring. As a parent, I have enjoyed being involved with the VA Parent Association, and as a graduate, being involved with the very active alumni associaition.

I saw the cabins - they were brand new, decent, not crowded. So much better than what I had at summer camp as a kid. The grounds are beautiful, peaceful rural Vermont. Kid said the food was wonderful, and he's kind of a picky eater. Loved his trumpet teacher there, loved playing in brass quintet, wind ensemble, full orchestra, and singing in choir. Mostly, he said it was just the nicest, friendliest place he's ever been, with kids and staff who love classical music as much as he does.
