I'm a casual disc golfer meaning that I go about twice a month at the most. This course seems to be set up a little more for the more avid disc golfers. Every time that I've gone, there has been quite a few avid players. I don't know if professional is the term for them but they are close to it. I usually feel a little out of my league when I play there. Two of the holes focus on a water hazard that for a casual disc golfer are a bit more challenging than I care to attempt. The first one angles across a decent size pond. The other one has the basket directly beside the pond. For me personally, I have no desire to get close to losing my disc in the water. If you want a challenging course, then this is a pretty good course. If you're a casual disc golfer, then I think there are some other courses in the area that might be a little more enjoyable. I'm just really not that big of a fan of the setup of the course. One cool thing about the course though is the fact that it does have 24 holes instead of the conventional 18 holes in case you want to skip the water hazard holes.

I enjoy walking in the park, taking pictures of nature. There's a pavilion with picnic tables, there's a tiny little playground for the little ones. There's also a little creek/river with a bridge that connects into a housing neighborhood area. The park is right next to train tracks, so to get to the walking area and the main part of the park you would have to go across the train tracks. A nice quiet place to go to enjoy nature (depending on time of day), if you're quiet enough you might spot some deer and any other wild animal. The other day I saw some pretty spring flowers!

I…read morehad never been here before, but my sister asked me if I wanted to go and take my kids for some fun. The entrance comes up quickly when you're driving, so make sure you don't miss it! We immediately went to the park, and my kids had an absolute blast. They're 3 and 1, but I saw plenty of older kids having fun as well. We checked out the lake, which was super pretty (watch out for goose poop!). I noticed some people fishing, and it looked like there were canoes around too! We then decided to have some lunch. There are plenty of picnic tables, so finding a spot to sit is not a problem. We ended the visit with one more trip to the park and then left. My kids were EXHAUSTED afterward, and I always appreciate a place that can tire them out. I'd like to visit again on a solo trip and walk a few miles around the lake next time!

There's a nearby park that has alot of activities for kids, decent restrooms and even canoe rentals. We hiked the entire trail around the pond and it was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. It can be really muddy depending on when you go. Structures are in solid standing. Trail features small slopes so it's not completely flat. Great place to visit.

Official 'holes' are setup with relatively good course markings. Arguably the first few holes are the best as they run along the beach and include nice grassy fairways surrounded by trees on either side. Once you get to the back 9 you end up with more 'field holes' where there is no distinct shape to the fairway. A few of the holes are in heavily wooded areas so bring a spare disk or be prepared to hunt.

Came out here and met a friend on the weekend. Lots of campers, I did not realize how many would…read morebe out RV camping, hmmm.. must be camping season. But anyways, that did not deter me, but the course does play along a few RV camping sites. Park at the camp store and hole #1 is up the stairs on the back side of the bldg. Hole #10 is across the street from the store, in the woods. Great challenge of holes. Some really long ones and not many short ones. Most averaged between 250-300 ft. I really liked some of the elevation changes and the general layout and use of the land. Definitely worth stopping here if you are close by or on your way thru the area.

The major kicker is that it's only a 9 hole course. Anytime you have to play a course twice to hit 18 holes, it's just not the same. Similar to Sims, you've got shots right along the lake, with hole #4 potentially a dangerous shot away from landing on the beach. The course has some elevation changes, though it doesn't utilize it the max. It can be quite windy, but a good singles score is 6-10 down on 18 holes with the longest hole being ~400 feet.

This is a park with a number of attractions including soccer fields, football field, baseball…read morefield, basketball and tennis court, a sand volleyball and a swimming pool with slides and other fun items for kids in the summer. Not only that, if it wasn't enough, but it is also directly on the lake. A short 1 mile path allows you to circle the park and walk right up to the precipice of the lake. There are numerous swinging benches aligned so you can sit an enjoy the view. Wonder local spot.

Tomlinson Run State Park offers breakfast at the campground on Saturdays from 8am-12pm, Memorial Day through Labor Day, and it's truly a hidden gem. The food was absolutely delicious--hot, fresh, and made with care. What's even better? It's all prepared by amazing volunteers, and every dollar goes right back into supporting the park. You can really feel the community pride in every bite. We'll definitely be back again before the season ends. If you're local (or even just passing through), make the stop. It's a great way to kick off a Saturday morning surrounded by nature and good people.

First time visiting this park. It is on the small side compared to other WV State Parks. This means…read morethat it is faster to get to where you are going in the park (no long road in). As you enter the park there is a road to the right that takes you to the campground (BTW, I have rated the campground separately under Campground at Tomlinson Run State Park). As you drive forward you will pass the Park Superintendent's house (on the right). Behind the house is a tiny building that serves at the park HQ. This is where you need to go if you want to stamp your VIPP card. Not obvious and you feel like you trespassing on the residence there but just drive past and then to your right and find the stamp. Along this road on the left you will find a picnic area and shortly after you will come to the edge of a small lake (on the left). On the right is the entrance to a road the winds up and around to the top of a hill (through the woods). There are two picnic areas. The first is off to the left before really heading up the hill. This one was buggy when I was there. At the top of the hill there is a parking lot and picnic areas. Nice spot! The road that goes through the park continues onward and then there is a parking area on the right above the lake. At the lake's edge are paddle boat rentals. If you continue on the road straight on the road you will end up exiting the park.
