I woke up early on a Saturday morning last month, excited to get some local produce. I don't know if I came on an off-day or what, but there were only about 6 booths, and only 3 of them had veggies/fruits. Most all of the produce was sold by a bushel, which would be fine if you had a large family I suppose...but with my household consisting only of my husband and me, it was a bit frustrating that we couldn't just buy, say, a few squash or a few apricots. Nobody had bell peppers, which made me sad, as that is what I was really looking forward to.
We ended up getting a bushel of the apricots and when we got them home, they tasted horribly. We thought perhaps they weren't ripe yet, but in a few days, they were just as nasty.
As we live and work nearby, I really hoped this would be a legit farmer's market. However, it was mostly just awkward and disappointing. read more
