Driving along the dusty road we came upon a stunning, old-fashioned, small town white church with a tall steeple. As the realty agents use in their ads "Honey, stop the car!", and I did. What a beautiful church, built in 1898. Interestingly, its bell was ordered from Montgomery Ward & Co and rang once for Mickey Rooney and Ava Gardner, who were married there in 1942. John Forsythe, best known as Blake Carrington on "Dynasty" married his 3rd wife, Nicole Carter here in 2002. The church has since become a funeral chapel, but continues to be used for weddings. At the edge of town a modern church serves the area. Okay, the donkeys are waiting for us, so off we go!

The father,mother and there son were a real team that made their retail operation very successful . They had there share of problems just as I did . Of course time and our lives moved onward . Over the years they sadly passed away . Due to not being completely in touch with them ; I was informed of there passing by family members . This was about 25 years ago . Today was the day I finally followed through with my desire to visit their burial site . Not knowing where to start , I visited the cemetery office . This is where i met Chris and was completely assisted with directions to the correct section that I needed find . We spoke briefly and I could tell he was very knowledgeable with his line of work . He did mention (after asking him) that he has been a caretaker here for 26 years . I was happy to meet him ; He made my visit successful and memorable . If you need help on anything ; Chris is reliably the best to speak with !

The grass is dead, there's weeds growing, the corner has a big pile of dirt, you break the stuff around people's headstones, you throw flowers on the floor, the list goes on. There's literally an elder gentleman out here right now cutting the weeds around their loved one's headstone with little scissor tools. Is that the service you provide to people? Do you enjoy having loved ones out here slaving over their family's grave after spending an arm and a leg to just have them here? When you charge a MAINTENANCE FEE to even do that?! Unbelievable. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. If you're going to charge this much with a maintenance fee the least you could do is take the time to make it look nice out here for when loved ones come to visit. We should be visiting, not maintaining the graves when there's employees who could be doing their jobs. Do better.

About a week ago today, We traveled to Santa Maria to attend the Memorial Services of a family…read moremember. No one, that I spoke to, had a cross word to say about DHCC. All the services began as scheduled and without a hitch. Albert, One of the Attendants, was very polite and courteous as was the other Gentleman whom I'm sorry to say, I didn't catch his name. He was so busy tending to new arrivals. At this Memorial, all went smoothly, but as in all Public Services, things don't always run as planned.
