This is not really a review of the school itself, but rather of its drama department and a show I…read morerecently attended. Watching a cast of students from all high school grades pull off "Treasure Island" was an absolute joy! I graduated high school a long time ago, and the school I went to didn't have a drama department at the time. Heck, when the football team would walk off the field at half-time, the band would walk out with the entire brass section clothed in football attire because they did double-duty. However, I remember what a bunch of doofuses we were back then, and the thought of pulling off a dramatic production of a story that hasn't really been a popular story for a number of decades was laughable. So imagine my surprise in sitting down and watching a show where the entire production, from direction to props to set to acting, was all done by the students with minimal involvement from teaching staff! The auditorium the show was performed in is your typical high school auditorium, with some amount of professional lighting but nothing spectacular. Sound is good, and the performers did not need microphones for the most part. The set? Wow... just wow. All of the pieces were appropriate for the show, and the costuming was really well done. As for the show itself, well... the lead role of Jim Hawkins was performed brilliantly by a tenth grader, whose multiple monologues were performed with beautiful inflection and nary a slip of memory. She interacted well with the rest of the cast, and to top it all off, she was also the one to choreograph all of the fights in the show, which included multiple one-on-one fights as well as a couple of mass melee's that are very tough to coordinate while still making them look good. The rest of the cast performed their directions admirably, and I have to give credit to all of them for pulling off an exceptional show. Their teacher, who has been teaching at Buchholz for decades, should take great pride in his students who have performed so well.

The Buchholz Bobcats lost to Forest Wildcats by a score of 61 to 59. The game ended tied at the end of regulation and went overtime. Their "Title One" program is poor and does not really offer help to the student, is more of a "detention" than learning. Homework and responsibility of learning are constantly being shoved to the parent because the teachers are busy teaching "the FCAT" so that they all can pass and the school can get a good score. There is not real care about the children well being and future by any of the staff, including the principal. When presented with the challenge of a student that cant "run with the pack", the teachers will immediately label your child as lazy, depressed, among other names. They will offer you no testing of any sort or any kind of assistance to try to determine if your child has a disability or does not actually want to do the work. My experience and my child's experience with this school were nothing short of a nightmare. I would recommend being proactive early if you think your child might have a disability and seek for an alternate school. I guarantee that you will not receive any support from anyone at the school to actually help with your child's learning.

We fell in love with the staff immediately after touring and joined that day back in March or so…read more It's been worth every penny to have a place for my husband to take our daughter during the week and get out of the house as he stays at home with her while I work. The staff truly loves children and wants them to grow and learn. They have so many activities to choose from for the older children and make every event as fun as it can be. The only reason I didn't give a five star is because currently my child is struggling with developmental delays and their class options do not allow her to continue to stay in the baby area to still learn more because of her age and that she's walking, but she's too small and not prepared for the next level they have. Just wish there was an area for those in between stages We love this place. The crazy, over exaggerating mother talking about the bathrooms not being safe needs to re-evaluate her score. First off, 1 stars are meant for extremely bad experiences, which she totally did not seem to have. Secondly, you should always accompany your child to a restroom or at least be close by no matter where you are. And lastly, although there is never any guarantee that there won't be another parent that could come into the facility that could hurt your child, almost every one of these parents we've met over the last year choose to bring their children because it's a safe environment and only want the best for their own kids... Most likely they won't have an urge to hurt others. Anyway, enough of that rant. We love bringing our daughter to o2b and she truly enjoys being there. We actually have fun at Morning Magic ourselves with the music and interaction from the team.

Their enthusiasm and spirit is contagious. Our children became better tennis players at camp, their swimming skills improved and their endurance levels climbed; but more importantly, they developed new passions, friends for life, and an incredible sense of spirit and adventure that I know will never fade. The variety of activities on A and B days is diverse, and always improving; from sports to arts, nature to science, cooking to fishing, there is something for every type of child.
