We were both walk-ins and they had a wonderful system of checking in (COVID regulations and all). I brought in my husbands signature in his handwriting, and they just used that paper. They copied it and enlarged it a little bit, but it still was the cute dainty signature I wanted. Overall the communication about it was very clear the entire time. I had my tattoo done by Sam. He was so kind! He kept the conversation going, and answered all my questions. Since I plan on coming back to get another tattoo, and I asked for his recommendation on covering up a stick & poke I had done on myself... lol They used a Saniderm bandage (clear & very sanitary). They also touched up another tattoo that my friend had gotten somewhere else in grey ink, but didn't like the faded look. (She thought she would). But somehow Sam managed to go over it without making the ink look thicker at all, it was still a fine line and dainty. I can't wait to come back. 10/10 recommend.

I asked for an ancient latin style font for the words that were supposed to accompany my piece and he suggested times new roman.... at that point with how long i had waited I said I no longer wanted the words. Since then, I've ended up having an allergic reaction to the second skin that was put on, and when I sent a picture, he said it was totally normal. I've spoken to a nurse since then and she confirmed it is in fact not normal irritation. I just feel like my time and requests were not respected at all. The piece itself turned out beautifully but the professionalism was pretty non existent unfortunately.

After losing my best friend in July 2016, I decided to honor and remember him as many ways that I…read morecould. One of those methods was a tattoo. Although I had never gotten one before (and had always been a trypanophobe), I figured that any pain that I endured during the process would be nothing compared to what my friend suffered for the last several months of his life. Despite the ubiquity of PDX tattoo artists, I spent several fruitless months attempting to schedule my tattoo. Some artists responded but their schedule was not conducive to mine, and most artists didn't respond at all. (Terrible customer service!) While visiting Spring Creek Coffee House (which features the work of local artists), I was intrigued by a new display of cards. When I looked more closely, I saw that the artist had left several business cards next to the cards, and that she performed tattoos. I contacted Tanya and was able to set up a consultation fairly quickly. Every step of the process (initial consultation, art approval, actual tattooing) was handled perfectly. Tanya created a beautiful design that made me cry the first time that I saw it (that's a good thing). She was very specific about my preparation (no alcohol or caffeine the day of, a protein-filled meal app. two hours prior). I had some last-minute jitters a few days before the appointment, but Tanya gently calmed my nerves via email. Some might have been condescending, but she understood my anxiety and defused it very well. As to the actual tattoo, although I have no frame of reference [because this is/was my first tattoo], it hurt a LOT less than I thought it might. I have heard and read that some tattoo artists are more heavy-handed than others, so perhaps Tanya is less heavy-handed which I consider to be a good thing. She gave me some simple tips to stay focused throughout the process (most importantly breathing), which were very helpful. Tanya provided detailed after-care instructions, which I followed carefully. It went very, very well. At one point I was uncertain about the scab (once again because this is/was my first tattoo), so I contacted Tanya to ask. She graciously assured me that my tattoo was healing exactly as advertised, and so it has! The experience went so well that I am planning to have Tanya do another tattoo of my best friend on my other deltoid. I highly recommend her services!
