To this point, it has been my practice that if a business does not meet my expectations, I will…read morecheck in but I do not go back and write a review. This experience is making me change my practice because it is one I need to share. I had an accident on November 24th, 2014. I called American Family Insurance right away and I wanted to take my car to Atchley Ford as their customer service and respect towards me as a customer has been top notch. My insurance company said "they are not one of our preferred vendors and the benefit you have by using a preferred vendor is a lifetime warranty on the work". I then asked them for a list. Great Plains Auto Body was the closest to home and work so I went with them. When I got to the body shop, I asked for just an approximate date of completion. I was told around December 12th considering that Thanksgiving was in a few days and parts may be delayed. This was acceptable to me considering the damage. On December 12th at 4:28pm, I received a voice-mail that it would not be ready and that they would keep me posted. On December 18th, I was told that my car should be ready until Friday, December 19th. On Friday the 19th at 3:07 PM, I received a voice-mail that the car would not be completed and that it was looking like Monday, December 22nd. I called Great Plains Auto back and explained how I have been very patient and that I was totally unhappy at this point and it was an inconvenience as I had made plans for having transportation that weekend. The male employee set me up to have a rental over the weekend at their expense. On Monday, December 22nd at 2:55pm, I received a call that my car would be ready at about 5pm. I got there at 5: and waited for about 20 minutes while they cleaned the car. The female employee came in and told me that the car was ready to look over. She then told me that the low tire pressure light was on and the air bag light was on. Note the air bag light was not on before the accident nor was it on after the accident as I started the car and let it run to check out any warning lights. The tire light was on since the tire was flat from the accident but it now has a new tire on. I then asked if they could not fill the tires with air, she said the tech was gone but she found a helper. He filled the tires but the light was still on, she said it probably has to be driven a while before the light goes out but that has never ever been the case. She then told me she was going to call the car rental and get me the rental back because they would probably have to take my car to a dealership to see what the 2 issues were and they would have to charge American Family for the work. HMMM?? When the rental car arrived, he said Great Plains is paying??? The female employee stated should it not be American Family? Car rental said the male said that he was taking care of the rental because car was not ready when promised. Another note, my deductible is $500.00 but when I got there, the paperwork said I owed $549.00. I am at such a loss with all of this as I have never ever experience anything like this before. Tomorrow is yet another day and I will update my rating when car is picked up, maybe I will be feeling better about this business at that time. Now to finish the rest of the story...My car was ready on Christmas Eve..With the consideration of everything I have gone through with this one incident, the quality of the work that was performed on my car is Excellent, so I am changing my rating to higher...The question for me...Would I refer a friend to this body shop for repairs?....YES!

From the check-in staff of Danielle and AJ, to Jimmy my service advisor, to Tre the wonderful guy that runs customer transport they were ALL so teriffic! I had a door dent on a crease that was no doubt obvious to see, but hard to get to. I was told up front that a simple dent pull may not make it 100%, but it DID! Well, that and some extra work. I received timely text updates throughout the two day service period. And when it was finished, Jimmy called to ask if I wanted to see it before putting things back together. I couldn't have been more pleased and satisfied! Tre was so wonderful in taking me home when I dropped off the Explorer, and then offered to return when finished. I got a ride to pick it up. And Tre made sure it was clean (spotless) for me, inside and out!!? It looked better than when I bought it 3 weeks earlier! Thank you Great Plains! You all are incredible, incredible people!

I cannot wash my truck at local car washes due to the gear I have on top of my truck. So, I'm relying almost completely on Gottsch Goo to keep my truck rust free. I do wash my truck in my driveway occasionally, but with the number of days below freezing, I'm not washing it often enough. Matt, the owner, has added options for free tha lt are pretty cool. They take pics of he underside of your vehicle to track rust history. Also, you can see what the coated vehicle looks like. They interface with CarFax as well. No extra charge for this and same pricing from when I went in last time. Matt and his team are awesome. I highly recommend them for their high quality service and attitude.

Which was fine as they did Uber me home and back to pick it up. Over all my experience was ok. Everyone was friendly and helpful However.... they left several spots of tree sap on the outside. I can scrape it off with a fingernail, but it still somehow got left behind. When looking at the windows, there are spots around the edges they didn't get clean. They also used Armor All on the inside. I freaking HATE that stuff. It leaves oily film everywhere and your hands end up coated. My clothes have it on them where I sat in it to drive. Had I known I would have told them not to. Sign says they use Chemical Guys products, but this is definitely armor all. As someone who uses CG when I do it myself, this is not their product. Further, they put it all over my leather seats, which is something Armor All specifically says NOT to do. As a pro detail shop they should know this. CG have a leather conditioner that should have been used. They also put it on the floor mats (weathertech) and I'm concerned I'm going to twist a knee trying to get in and out because they are slick as snot too. Inside looks nice and they got it pretty well cleaned, but I would rather they not have used anything at all over the Armor All. When I got home I wiped everything down with a towel just to pull some of it off. I can still feel it on everything though. Concerned I need to wash my seats again and just condition them myself. For the $400 I paid, I would have expected better than Armor All and definitely would not have expected tree sap to have been left behind. They did get the dog hair out and the inside is clean for the most part. 3.5 stars

However, I must admit that the actual service failed to live up to this billing in any way shape or form. I went there to get an estimate on some body damage on my bumper. The woman working there informed I would need an entirely new bumper for some relatively minor damage, and I thought this was odd given three body shops in town had told me it was clearly repairable without replacement. She gave me an estimate that is literally 68 percent higher than that I received at two other Omaha body shops. When i told her that, she said, 'Well you better get in line there as fast as you can then,' and 'We couldn't even paint it for that.' To me, this is a blatant admission that you charge much more than other and are more than willing to admit to their potential customers before sending them out the door. I just don't understand that business strategy. To top it off, this woman was extremely rude and seemed like she could take or leave my business. With so many other body shops in Omaha, you'd think they'd want to acquire more clients by treating them nicely, but obviously this is not a priority of West Omaha Auto Body. The reviews are good (at least four of them) on Yelp, but I've since been told endless horror stories about dealing with them when I went to find a better price and a business that cared about my needs. I would urge you to seriously consider your options wholeheartedly when considering using West Omaha Auto Body. I don't want to be treated like my money and car doesn't matter, nor do I want other patrons to be given the same treatment.
