Brunch California style! Yay! I am so happy to find a restaurant in the hood that serves a brunch…read morethat's just as I remembered the years in SF (where brunch is the eighth sacrament - after Sunday mass). And yes, the brunch served weekends noon to 5pm is worth a detour towards the water. Two amazing salads (Caesar and a Mediterranean with beets and feta) with really fresh vegetables, Mac and cheese, chicken wings, American pancakes, amazing burger sliders, and poached eggs with seafood hollandaise. And of course you can end it with a very rich brownie topped with a marshmallow! The coffee they serve is strong and has the nice American flavors that I'd expect. Service is efficient and welcoming although it's just one server and a cook.

I have walked by the place many times but been a bit hesitant as it to me looked a bit like take on an American steakhouse so I got Texas Longhorn vibes. Still I wanted to give it a go so stopped by for dinner. They have jumped on the burger trend (which I guess is way past trend now) so serve up a few different burgers as well as some salads and a few snacks and desserts. The menu is short and to the point and I sort of like a place not having too many dishes. The beer menu is also fairly short but they have made a decent selection of beer but I think that they could benefit from adding a few more there. The wine list is actually surprisingly long for a burger place but I would assume that they will also try to get the afterwork crowd since they have a large outdoor area with evening sun (until around 8.30 or so) I went for the burger of the month , the poached egg and truffle burger and the royal with cheese was ordered by others around the table. The burgers come with fries but it is also possible to ask for a salad on the side. We actually went for one with salad and one with fries and split those. Was a good choice as there was a lot of fries. The patty that arrived was not really medium as they said they make them but it was still extremely juicy and flavorful. The egg and truffle burger was very good, although if I need to find a fault with it I would say it could be more truffle taste. The royal with cheese is a good cheese burger. The side salad was pretty good, a lot better than many burger places salads and the fries were also very good. So how does the burger compare to all the other burger joints popping up around Stockholm? It is not the best burger I had but it is definitely among the better ones. This is also more of a 'restaurant' burger than a 'fast food' burger so to me it more competes with the likes of Flying Elk and Oljebaren rather than Flippin, Käk and Svenska Hamburgerköket and as a restaurant burger it is one of the better in Stockholm. I would hold it above both Flying Elk and Oljebaren and also price-wise it is better as it is around 140 SEK (139 for the royal and 145 for the burger of the month). I will probably be back a few times but if I really feel the need for s burger I would probably still head to Svenska Hamburgerköket instead.

Especially if you're in the mood for steak. They have everything from a "ladies" (200g) to a "Bigass"(500g) entrecôte, New york cut Striploin in various sizes, lamb, surf & turf and whole lobster tail. Along with variations of hamburgers, ribs, chili, nachos, and fajitas .. something for everyone. My absolute favourite dish is the "Texas Chili", it's unbeatable. It's a traditional chili, served with salsa, guacamole, sour cream, black beans and wheat tortilla bread. The "Ugly American" is the only burger I've tried, it's a 220 g hamburger with bacon, served with coleslaw, chipotle drip and fries. You're absolutely stuffed when you've finished your meal. In Sundbyberg the restaurant is newly renovated, they have changed the decor on the walls and repainted, while also adding some tables by the bar. You cannot reserve a table though, but the wait is usually not that bad. It's a small restaurant so choose your seating wisely if you can. We sat right next to the window, which can be nice in the winter time. But in the summer, with the sun blasting in, it was quite unbearable. Since the restaurant is so small, it gets very hot when all the grills are fired up in the back kitchen. I really like that all beer and soda comes in the chilled Texas Longhorn glasses, and that the staff is nice and friendly. Definitely a place to visit, again and again.

For those who prefer a quieter meal where you can hold a conversation, I recommend arriving before the band starts or dining inside-- reservations highly encouraged! I started with the Herring Sample, which included three different styles of herring, and for my entrée, I ordered the dish my heart had been yearning for: the Swedish meatballs. As a huge fan of lingonberries over cranberries, I was delighted to see them served on the side. Overall, the meatballs were similar to what I've had back in the States, but as with all European meals, tasted more elevated and wholesome. It felt like a Thanksgiving celebration--Swedish style! The gravy was delicious, and the potato puree were comforting.

As it's quite popular, reservations are highly recommended - we made one just in case to ensure a table seating. There's nice local art around the walls of the restaurant, which adds an additional depth to the experience. We ordered the cabbage, meatballs, reindeer suovas, and the Swedish cheesecake. The cabbage was a sizable amount for a half order, nicely grilled and tossed with a mustard sauce - it is super flavorful! The meatballs are of high quality - I haven't tried IKEA meatballs yet but these are very delicious and satisfying. The reindeer suovas are crackers with smoked reindeer - the meat texture is so tender and chewy, with a hint of smokiness. It is definitely a more unique dish so the suovas and the meatballs would be my picks here if you were to dine solo. The Swedish cheesecake is way different from American cheesecake - give it a try! It's not too sweet, my favorite level of sweetness, but it nonetheless gives a nice cheese flavor to it.

I've long heard about Phil's Burger being one of the best in Stockholm, up there with Prime and Flippin'. I completely disagree. This burger wasn't bad at all. It wasn't offensive. It wasn't too small or tasteless. It just didn't have that *WOW* factor that I look for. I got the Phil's limited, which contained some sort of BBQ onion chutney, bacon, cheese, mayonnaise, and pickles. Lots and lots of pickles (the saltgurka kind, not the yummy dill kind). The patty was pleasantly thick. It was juicy and well seasoned. Another plus was that the bread was nice and soft and I was able to get everything in one bite. They didn't skimp on the bacon which I appreciated. The pickles though- how many damn pickles can one burger contain? 7? 10? My very last bite unfortunately had a stack of about 3 pickles which ruined it for me. So unnecessary. The fries were very average and they have bearnaise to dip; I welcome bea with open arms. Overall I had a good experience. I was very full and the prices were not extravagant. Will I go again? No, don't think so. I really don't feel the urge. With so many amazing burger places in the city, there's no need to.

I knew something was off when they didn't have a burger with bacon on it. So I ordered one with cheese but with two burger patties. My sister ordered a regular. We were almost alone in the place when we ordered and still the food was slow (although not unacceptably slow). Food came out and it was packaged in quite a unique manner (fries in a bag, burger in a sideways bag) which of course made it memorable in its own way. However, my sister realized after eating half of her burger that she was eating mine (the double). So apparently, without asking, they had given the 5' girl the double burger and the 6' guy the regular - way to avoid gender stereotyping! But seriously, they couldn't have asked "which one of you ordered the double?" when they came out with the food? Not a single one of our combined three burger patties were pink in the middle, so they clearly don't know how burgers should be cooked. Cardinal sin right there. The bread buns were pale - in fact so pale I found it less appetizing. Are they even done in the oven before they take them out? Of this is a "thing" I'm missing the point. Fries were unique but not in a particularly good way - they are generously seasoned which I like, but the potato strips are so thin that the frying procedure have shriveled them up completely. A quarter of the content in the bag of fries is just small, leftover pieces of potatoes that have been so aggressively fried that they're completely inedible. You can feel yourself getting cancer as you force yourself to try it. All in all, not a good burger experience - not at all. I would come back under gunpoint. Maybe.
