If you want the bottle of your wine stolen by the staff in front of your face, please go to this restaurant. I noticed our empty bottle of water and half-filled bottle of wine being taken away in the same hand. It was clear that the waitresses were cooperating as our wine bottle (which still had a lot of wine in it and was one of the more expensive on the menu) was taken away and words were subtly exchanged between them. At the time I thought they were bringing it to the fridge, as they give temperature ranges for the different wines on the menu. However, a moment later when my boyfriend asked for a top-up and to see where the bottle had gone, the waitress went into sheer panic and couldn't articulate that the wine bottle was empty and went from fluent English into strange, nervous, circles trying to say it was empty. This was the most obvious bold face lie that I have ever seen in my life. I have never been treated like this at a restaurant ever. If you speak English you are an absolute target for the fake wait staff at this restaurant. Also the steak sauce was far too peppery and the duck was over-cooked. This is a real shame as our family and friends have been coming to Portugal for 30 years and have frequented this restaurant many times. A slip up in the food can be forgiven however theft cannot. Porches Velho, Vilarinho, O Pescador Benagil, and A Tasca in Armação de Pêra are far better options with great food and service for less money in close proximity. read more
