    Cataplana
    Alexander H.

On our first night in Albufeira we've been to this place, just one side street away from the main drag in town. Service was fine, a bit basic maybe. But our dog was welcome here on a table outside, which was nice. Ordered a bottle of White Wine, some rice and a bowl of Cataplana. Prices were - for Albufeira - fair. The Cataplana was a good choice. The boiled clams, mussles, shrimp and fish pieces all fresh and of good quality. Tomatoes, potatoes and the herbs/veggies rounded up this famous and very good seafood stew. A bit annoying was the fact that the street has some traffic. And it's a narrow street, so the cars will come close if you sit outside. Very good food though - but the next two nights we've found an even better place.

Apparently no one uses Yelp here but still want my yelpers to know this restaurant was so good. Prices were extremely affordable with a whole grilled sea bream that paired with fries and some steamed veggies came out to be just 10€. Everyone loved their dish and was worth the wait. The table was a bit tricky, they told us 20-30min and ended up being closer to an hour wait. Feels like a local spot and the service was attentive and all workers wore masks. When in algarve we will definitely come back to this restaurant.

Fish Cataplana for 2! Was delicious!

The food was not authentic Portuguese food. Over priced and subpar is never a good combination. I would not recommend.

Everything we ordered was delicious from the clams bulhao to the arroz marisco to the Algarve tart (best algarve tart we had on our trip). Even the homemade garlic bread was good. Seafood all tasted fresh, staff was pleasant, and the restaurant had a catchy playlist going too. Only downside was how long it took to deliver our main course after starter. We were seated at a table near the front door; perhaps sit at a table closer to the front for better attention.

We spent a month in the Algarve and ended up dining here at least 10 out of 30 nights. We kept trying to find another restaurant that could compare--and never did. The food is authentic Portuguese cuisine at its finest. The clams, made from the owner's grandmother's recipe, are hands-down the best I've ever had in my life. Honestly, it doesn't matter what you order--everything on the menu is exceptional. Be adventurous. You won't regret it. The restaurant is family-owned and family-run, which adds so much to the experience. Vitor runs the kitchen and delivers incredible food every single night. His wife Ines runs the front with grace and warmth. Luan and Joah were there every evening we visited, offering some of the best service we've ever experienced anywhere--professional, kind, and genuinely caring. The ambiance is casual, quiet, and cozy--it truly feels like home. Every guest is welcomed like family, and this incredible team goes above and beyond to make each night memorable. If you go (and you absolutely should), tell them the Fanellas from Florida sent you. Jardim Rústico is a gem, and dining there was one of the highlights of our trip.

I went with a large group of coworkers around 11 of us during this dinner. The staff were all very attentive. They have excellent Sangria. Too bad I couldn't drink more than a small cup as I have medicine that keeps me from drinking too much. Anyways, I reviewed the menu and they have many good choices. At this point in the week I was feeling a bit tired of seafood so I decided to order the Portuguese Steak. Also I had what is a must try appetizer the fried sardines. OMG fresh sardines are amazing. If I had these at home I would certainly eat many more sardines. The flavor was great, and the cracker breading very tasty. The steak was very tasty with a topping of ham and a good juice it was cooked in. I would guess more garlic and olive oil. Also they offer the usual olives and bread to eat before your meal but you need to request those and they are worth requesting. I finished my meal off with a piece of coconut cake. It was quite good as well and wasn't to sweet. It was pretty unique and hard to describe other than a cake with lots of coconut but not frosted. I loved it. The restaurant may offer the best views in this area of the ocean as well. It was getting surprisingly cold after the sun set but they offered guests blankets to stay warm. It was a great dinner and note it may be slightly hard to find so use google maps to get there if walking.
