I enjoyed my time here for a number of reasons. Before I count the ways let me inform you of a few tricks on getting here.
O Hotel is hidden, so you can easily drive pass it if you're not keeping an eye out. Because it's located on a Flower Street (a one way street in Downtown, L.A.) if you end up at Olympic or the STAPLES center, you've gone too far. But, because everything is located at walking distance (eateries, more bars, LA Live, the Pantry, etc.) you can park anywhere and walk over to the O-Hotel. If you were a hotel guest like myself, I recommend driving back around and find the parking structure immediately next to the O-Hotel.
There you go, my quick "how to get there" guide.
Onto the hotel...
The hotel staff, including registration and the kitchen, were professional and accommodating. I hosted my 30th birthday here and it's a great venue for a small group of friends. Keep in mind I said professional and accommodating, so the more prepared you are, the more accommodating the hotel will be.
The dinner was amazing. We started off with appetizers: Potato Croquette`s choriz with manchego cheese (my friend describes them as "fancy hushpuppies), Wagyu Sliders shallot confit, bacon, provolone cheese (he also called these "fancy, mini, sirloin burgers"), Eggplant Caponata goat cheese, toasted bread (which my best friend highly recommended alas I did not try) and Mexican Shrimp salsa verde, jalapeno. All of these small bites appealed to the taste buds of my hungry friends.
But wait, there's more! My friends also ordered dinner plates of Ahi tuna, sirloin steak, O-hotel special burger, truffled mac and cheese, gnocchi...and I can go on and on, but as simple and small as the hotel menu is, not one of my guests complained about their dish. Even the most quiet of my guests described her Wild Arugula Salad as the perfect blend of sweet and sour.
My guests and I sat in the mezzanine area, and although a charity event took place downstairs the same night, the hotel hostess, the waitress, and the staff (seriously, bless their hearts) were quite helpful to make sure our drinks were full, our meals were out in a timely fashion, and even brought out an extra table with plates and forks for a birthday cake my friend made for me.
Then, off to my hotel room. Small, chic, interesting bathroom, but comfortable. Granted, yes, my room also had a window that faced a brick wall, but it was still nice having a window.
When I wasn't quite ready to leave by check-out time, I politely asked the front desk if they were able to give me additional time in which he politely replied with a "yes." Sweet!
Anyway, the O-Hotel really started my night well and I am truly thankful for such a great night. This attention, the food, the overall ambiance of this location made for an amazing night. read more
